@@jeremyhayes6585 I'd argue Sheeva. In MK3 her basic kombo was 7 hits, and it's only been worse since. Plus she's always had wonky buttons, like in 3 her ground stomp was back down back hk. It's like the devs took joy in making her take more steps to accomplish the same thing.

Lesson here kids! Get good with Johnny Cage! If Ed Boon would truly take the time to balance out his characters and some of the combos with some characters weren't so stupid hard to make work and so unforgiving, maybe there would be less broken controllers?

Johnny Cage being ridiculously frustrating to fight against is very on-brand for his character.
You missed one very major thing with mk11 Johnny that a lot of people aren't really aware of unless they main him/fight him a lot. His hitbox when in crouch block is astonishingly small. Even just crouched in general a lot of mid projectiles just go over his head, but in crouch block like half of the stuff you can throw at him whiffs entirely.
It's a thing NRS likes doing with characters, but especially early MK11 Johnny was probably the worst example of it they've ever done. You basically couldn't touch him in crouch block.
The first time i ever broke a controller was playing mk9 against Cage... Glad to see I'm not the only one.

I remember using Nut Punch in MK9 and following with Forward+4. It wasnt a real combo. But you wont believe how many people online didnt know you could block it while your character is clenching their nards.

To add insult to injury, I'm pretty sure that MKX string also leads into a brutality, so not only will you be getting hit by it the entire match, you'll probably get finished off with a flashy brutality if you don't die to chip damage

MK9 Johnny had the most satisfying XRAY. I literally never whiffed with that x-ray against more inexperienced players who wanted to button mash or be too aggressive. It was perfect
When it came to MKX I loved using the Stunt Double variation the most, It may not have been outright as strong as A-List or Fisticuffs, but as soon as you got the doubles activated it led to some decent pressure potential and combos. for example. you could do a jump in, a string that jailed or hit mid then go into the stunt double's version of rising star. While Johnny couldn't actively move for a brief moment as it activated, assuming he had meter he could spend it to trigger the overhead followup so you had to guess it and stay standing, you could try to challenge it but I think on CH it was a bounce launch (Pretty sure its hard knockdown now? can't remember honestly) So you generally didn't wanna challenge it. which led to Johnny just usually doing another string for chip or going for a cheeky low afterwards on block, free hits or mini combo on hit and If he knocked you down, he could just refresh the doubles in most cases and start it again.
His only real issue I remember was he had no reliable method of dealing with the likes of Grandmaster Sub's Ice Clone. Stunt Double was his only reliable method of beating it. Otherwise he needed meter to armor through and etc. Fun times.

challenging EX rising shadow is a straight up mistake; pre patch it was plus enough to jail a jump-in punch; post patch it's a bit more finnicky, but still can be jailed from - and it has always been and stayed a launcher, which is what created the infamous corner hard-to-block setup)
I've never played mk9 and I felt second hand frustration when you were discussing Johnny.
It's a great game everyone broken so only some were so absurdly broken they were broken I played reptile and johnny reptile was so fast and yet only mid tier with 40 percent meterless combos slide cancel for free cross ups slow moving projectiles that comboed

As a Johnny cage loyalist, I approve of all of this. I did all these things and enjoyed it.
So for mk9. I found a cheap way to win as johnny on max difficulty, just hold B2 until it's fully charged and it does an unlockable attack which you can use to combo with. And don't worry about getting hit the CPU just stands there blocking lol

MK9 Johnny Cage was a thing of nightmares. Man would push you all the way to the corner and keep you there til you lost or more likely quit
What’s funny is I played A-List in MKX and did this with the less cheap version of the combo in the corner. It just made sense for juggling when I was lagging.

One thing I didn’t see was A-list block pressure mkx. As an A-list main, the amount of pressure you can create with run cancels has gotten me so many quitalities.

Sup Dawg! Here's a video idea for you! There's a game which seems that MK was influenced by and that most people don't know, which is World Heroes 1, a game that came out 2 months and some days before MK1 (let's remember that MK1 was made using filmed actors, which is faster and easier than making animations).
World Heroes 1 has a blue ninja and a red ninja similar to Scorpion and Sub-Zero (Hanzo and Fuuma); it has a char that shows a cyber eye like Kano does ("Brocken", when his face gets... Broken, after a fight); a Bruce Lee/Liu Kang-like char with a flying kick as his signature special move (Dragon); one single female char that's blonde like Sonya (Janne); a stage with bald monks in the background in front of a chinese-style temple like in "The Courtyard" stage; a stage with *spikes* like "The Pit" (on its corners and in Deathmatch Mode, and maybe that "Death" part sparkled some ideas as well); and... *A final boss that morphs into all the other chars!* Those are all the ones I found, I don't know if there's more.
Not gonna lie hearing about this character makes me forgive how annoying scorpion can be in mk11.
yeah as someone who only played 9 (and every mk before) with friends and family without looking anything up I managed to realize knee kicks knee kicks was busted and boy, we banned him eventually because everyone would pick him, but before that my mom (avid casual mk player, so she's not your regular mom exactly but she's not like, labing combos and shit or even knowing terminology) not only would do knees into kicks into knees into x-ray punish into juggle into ball i think it was? every once in a while but she was the one that came up with it in our playing group, it wasn't just a masher does thing by luck situation, kinda shows you how you didn't need a rocket scientist to figure it out
In my opinion kung lao is the character who broke the controller because of his long combos. and Im so extreme about this opinion.

Ima be completely honest. In mkx i personally prefer a list Jhonny. Its probably worse than fisticuffs but the pressure is pretty good and the run cancels are hype.

he wont have meter after his parry so you won't get another EX force ball so you're not going to get ALL the damage, but a lot of it.
I love the rising star I hope its in the next game. It's one of his coolest moves besides his green force kick.
