Osku is the Bowler that I try to learn from more than any other. At first it was Belmo but Osku and EJ both have an approach that looks like art.
Thank you for the physical breakdown of his game. Osku's game is what inspires me to enhance my physical game. The raw power and rev rate this man generates is almost unmatched on tour, let alone from a two hander. Of course, Belmo has perfected his technique as well. But for what I want my game to become, is more like Osku. I'd guess his game really overpowers an oil pattern and wreaks havoc on the track other players would usually play on.
From what I've seen, he can very easily overpower an oil pattern. There are benefits and downsides to that as you would imagine as in the end, you need to play the lanes the way the lanes are telling you to play.

I wanna point out osku no longer throws at spares with 1 hand. He switched to 2 hands at spares cause he said it made him more consistent.

He got so many complaints and now that the stringpin is becoming more common he has switched to 2 hands completely to avoid breaking the strings.

This is brilliant for me as my form is similar to this, do you know why he used to start his 2 handed approach with his right foot? because that's what I do and its rare to fin two handers who start on their right foot
Osku used to take more than 5 steps.
It's all based on that. If you're right handed and have an odd number of steps, you start with your left foot. Even number, right foot.

so what's wrong with osku even though he's been there for so long and have not won that much in this sport? maybe he'll be richer doing blogs on youtube lol
Honestly? I think osku just overpowers the majority of oil patterns.
He is an excellent bowler, don't get me wrong, but when I look at him and compare him to belmo - belmo has more versatility as a whole.
@@BigSkyBowler yeah it's a balance of everything and you can't teach new tricks to old dogs as d saying goes hehe
@@BigSkyBowlerVersatily, not so sure, I got plenty of that. Better on Tour environment, for sure. Belmo was/is great wheeling it when most people weren’t, got some big wins and got comfortable and then even more versatile afterwards.
Now back to bashing me. I was good at hooking it, but then short oil came. And this of course was prior new wave of “urethanes”. I stank at it, so wanted to master it, well not suck at it, and forgot how to hook it. My body got even more efficient, too efficient that slowing down is now super hard if not impossible for me..

I have a youth who is a very decent two hander, but he likes to throw it hard and is very used to doing that. He plays mostly on the outside part of the lane because of this.
Trying to get that kid to slow down and shape it is very difficult.
