Who is this amazing translator? ...I’m not at all familiar ASL, but I had to drop a line & say ...She’s the most impressive translator I’ve ever heard, ever.
Leanne is beautiful, inside & out. She’s got a great head in her shoulders & taught me a lot in this interview.
Thank you for this upload, Krista😘

Beautiful insight from Leanne Rumley❤️ Captured exquisitely by Krista Loughton❤️ Opens eyes/hearts to misery of homeless. Our sick society creates drug war, poverty, housing crisis
    ...criminalizes poor, homeless & drugs
    ...creates barriers to solutions

If this was filmed in late September, I wonder where Leanne is now... if she was able to secure some sort of housing....for less than 800$ per month....And I wonder what the weather is like. Everywhere that I say, "The Government needs to build housing sufficient to house those who are on social assistance and therefore are living far below anything resembling a living wage", people say, "They won't build housing." This is a false economy to me. How is building apartments and maintaining them, with a social worker on staff, any less affordable than numerous trips to the emergency ward and sticking people in shelters...or paying police and by-law officers to chase folks off the land who have no money... I believe that at the end of the day, all those things cost more than basic housing.... Thank you Krista for finding Leanne and giving her an opportunity to be heard and seen. Thank you for being the soldier that you are, fighting for folks who have nothing and are criminalized for it. I cannot wait until this next film is released, and will support your efforts in any way that I can.

Hi Leissa! I agree with you completely. The shelter allowance in B.C. for people on social assistance, and for people with disabilities, is $375. We need enough housing at that rate to cover the numbers. If we don’t provide it, as you say, we pay for it in a myriad of other ways. It makes no sense whatsoever.
Leanne is still sheltering in the park, but fingers crossed that housing is coming soon. We’ll post again when it happens. Much love to you!

It’s u fortunate the way this initial was brought to public’s attention was through my step sister who only looked at it as a chance to gain attention and money. Unfortunately that’s a typical Psychopathic trait= Narcissistic. She gave absolute no warning to other kids what her intent was and according to the other kids at JHS? She was zero abused and in Fact some point to Ginnie as a abuser.

This is October! She is still out there in Beacon Hill??? How dangerous! I have a blind friend and she is CONSTANTLY victimized by the drug addicted deviants who accuse her of "faking it". Which is ludicrous! There needs to be a hotel for women like her and others who have kids and DONT DO DRUGS OR HAVE SEVERE MENTAL ILLNESS!!! To keep these HOTELS SAFE!

Also don't ever say that you could tolerate living outside and it's like camping excetera, that just sends a message to people that you want to be outside and you don't mind it, the point of being homeless if it's in the summer in a way it is like camping cuz of weather is nice, but the point is it's having to Bear up under that situation because you still don't have housing, the end goal is to get in housing, you do not want to stay outside, it's nothing fun, it's just that there's no other option for the meantime, but you're always seeking to change that. There's a lot of people who dismiss homeless people and don't want to bother with them because they justify it by saying they want to be outside. And when you speak with that kind of language it makes it sound like it's true, then it's going to just make your cause way harder to advocate for housing Etc

OMG Leanne for Presidente of the Galaxy !
I am one million percent politically aligned with her. I have lived in Montreal Center South part of downtown which is where most of the homelessness is located for 20 years. I have worked many years in a homeless shelter and now I help fellow survivors of prostitution. I live in the same neighborhood where I was a teenage prostitute 20 years prior. I chose to never leave it because my goal is to stay and help make it better. Sadly here too our policies and lack of funding for outreach work and housing causes similar problems. We had our first year with a major summer tent village (by the Notre Dame highway) this year. It was dismantle just as winter was starting. A lot of the help is inadequate and people like me don't easily get in an advising position (not for lack of trying :P ).
I also wanna say that I felt super privilege to have witnessed one of the best interpreter I have EVER heard. Oh my god did she GIVE A VOICE to Leanne, with all the tone and inflections that felt so right, it was so amazing to hear that I re-watched it a second time right after.
Everyone should see the interview and share it profusely with a personal comment telling people Why they need to see this.
I so wish you all the Best Leanne and Bravo to the team, Krista + interpretador, this is a gem.
    Love,
    Valérie - Legal Tender
