Hello there. I'm 62 years old and was around when Hotel California was first released in 1977. So I've always been aware of this song. I have always played the guitar a "bit", licks and riffs and stuff. Recently I met a guitarist for jams etc. He suggested we learn HC. I had to kiss a lot of frogs before I came to you!! I learnt HC from your great tutorial. I think that your tutorial is the best. I must admit, I didn't realise that HC was all finger picking patterns. Never the less, I have learnt HC but of course I will now have to cycle it hundreds of times before I can say that it's fluid. Keep up the great work that you are doing!!!

Man, I saw like, literally 634 Hotel California tutorials here, but yours has no rivals... It's enlightening. The details you revealed of that wonderful acoustic progression are unique and unprecedented, not even Don Felder ever explained the original arrangement in such a generous way. Thank you so much!

Please never stop doing these lessons!!! I have tried lots of other tutorials for various songs but you have an awesome way of explaining each part to the point that even a total novice as myself can get this and play it half way decent and I love that you even show some alternate ways of playing some chords if they are too hard for some us! Also love your pick of songs from my era.. Bleed to love her, Rain Song, From the beginning.... or this one, Hotel California was a hit when I was in the 8th grade and this song brings back so many memories! Thank You! My Latest endeavor is to learn " Opening Farewell" From Jackson Browne.. I Know you don't have this song in your collection of tutorials but because I have learned a lot from you I hope to try to watch the vids of covers and Live vids and make a go of learning just from watching.. Thanks again for spending your time to teach us!!!!

Top notch as always. We are thinking of trying this in our 3 piece band, trying to figure out if I can make it sound good enough on one electric guitar. Was attracted to the solo, in particular those famous harmonized arpeggios at the end. I got them self harmonizing with an appropriately set delay, sound pretty good actually so think it could work. Then I look into how to really play this main riff here thinking it would be simple and it kind of blows my mind, didn't realize it would need a capo. Gonna be a masochist and see how close I can get it without the capo, left hand will probably fall off by start of solo. Never really paid any attention to Don Felder until this week, only ever heard a lot about Walsh, now Felder is kind of blowing my mind with his play here and the unplugged version.

Aside from the totally excellent music lesson, I really need to comment on the video presentation. It's all about the fretboard,, the left and right hand, and the strings. The lighting and camera angle are perfect. Also great is how you capo so we can see both hands in action. Nice touch. And that Taylor is sounding so sweet! I just got my first Taylor, which is also my first 12-string, a couple of weeks ago. I'm using your vids to blow away my friends with some sick Eagles tunes!

Thanks!!When I first started playing about 8 yrs ago i went to a guitar teacher and the VERY FIRSTsong he wanted me to practice was Hotel California!!I didnt even know all the open chords yet...I think that started me off on the wrong track.Hell at that point I wanted to play ANYTHING and be able to play it.I would have settled for Mary Had a Little Lamb just to have 'success' at first...As time went by and I got better and I knew the chords I never could find a 'good lesson' on playing Hotel California...I'm sticking my tounge out at my 1st guitar teacher right now(actually it involves 1 of my fingers)
