Kaela Redman You should go to the Vaganova Ballet Academy in St. Petersburg. You need to work on your arms and hands. Or apply for summer internships at the Paris Opera. Try... Work on your expressivity too. Show them how much you enjoy dancing. There seems to be a problem with your balance. Maybe it would be wise not to look at yourself in the mirror. Chad Spar91 At 14 they just want to check you’re strong enough to go on pointe, to roll through demi correctly and to be able to balance correctly on one leg. They’ll do the rest when you’re with the school. Schools like to stylise their dancers to their own style. It’s kinda best not to show too much as you might have a style they don’t like and it’s harder to train someone out of a style than it is to train them into one. If that makes sense :)
A very good back; hence a lovely arabesque. Good turnout and feet. Unfortunately, she's hyperextended in the knees. Before I get jumped on by angry, but less experienced, ballet fans, this is NOT a technique issue. It's just the way you are born, like the height of your instep or length of your neck. Unless the extension is extreme (which it is not, here) it doesn't affect your dancing. It's a visual issue. It makes your upper legs look out of proportion to your calves. Most important, it can be difficult to show that your legs are straight. When you're hyperextended, your knees may actually be totally straight and the dancer completely pulled up -- but to an observer, your knees don't appear fully stretched and legs straight, even they actually are. Her legs do look better en pointe instead of demi. And she's only 14, and clearly in a growth spurt. So we don't know what will improve and even out in a year or two. She's talented, for sure! Quick note to young dancers making audition tapes: Consider it a performance, not a class. That means *get off the mirror. * Watching yourself in the mirror distorts your movement, especially your port de bras and epaulment. Film away from the mirrors, or cover them.
I danced ballet for 18 years and my knee hypertension actually led to a lot of alignment issues that lead to a very bad shin and calf injury. I had to completely retrain my body to not hyperextend on any standing leg(s) and use core to support my legs more. As for the knees not appearing straight, never had that issue!
Actually I think hyperextension isn‘t necessarily a problem 🤔 My favourite ballerina, Marinskij‘s Olesia Novikova, has extremely hyperextended knees/legs. At the Paris Opera, the competition is ruthless, many young girls have this level, some are 12 years old. She was indeed accepted for the internship (3 months), which precedes the official acceptance, but she declined due to injury. However, this young girl was 14 years old at the time of the video. The average age of entry into the Corps de Ballet is 15, with a few exceptions. I speak as a professional.
I wish her to find her way. Pain accompanies Dancers throughout their careers...
I wish her the best. She deserves it.
Igor Rudolfovitch Noureïev
Excellent but her en dehors, her knees roll outwards they're not aligned at all. She must take care of it. Beautiful at all.
Arms:(
i think you could work on control of the upper body and arms... and not looking in the mirror so much (i know its hard because youre beautiful!)
good job! i hope you got in!!
The knees though :/ not alligned properly when she plies because she cant hold the turnout from the top.
Obviously the Paris Opera saw how good your technique was at such a young age. Congrats! Ignore the trolls.
顔、右横向きすぎじゃない?
Thought only French citizens could belong to the Paris Opera Ballet? The school I do not know about.
She was auditioning for the summer program, which international students go to.
