Lou Barlow is such an underrated musician. He really doesn't get enough love, Emoh stands as one of the greatest Folk records ever and few bands can even compare to Sebadoh.
If I could only ever listen to one artist it would be Lou. He has everything for simple one man and a Ukulele to snarling seBADoh Indy rock. All that with a time for his audience. I am so glad I found his music, and thankful to him for the dozens of truly great songs he has given us. None better!
Lou Barlow, Ryan Adams, Jeff Mangum, and Elliott Smith are the few singer/songwriters that consistently draw me to whatever emotions their songs contain, no matter what mood I'm in beforehand. There need to be more like this; but they're all so good, I guess it's asking too much.
Jesus God! Lou Barlow was on the O.C.? That makes perfect sense. Just like him performing on Fox Rox. Anyway, I've been a devout Sebadoh fan since 91. I was 15 and first heard Weed Forestin. The Noise Pop show at the Great American the other night fucking killed. At 15 or 31 Lou still touches the same undying, unhealing sore. Thanks, Lou.
how could i do any thing but smile, reenact your legendary tragedy and do to me what has been done to you, is that the only point to all this misery, is there any reason i should cry. there is deep meaning in these words.
davvero bravo!questi sono artisti...non come in italia ke vanno avanti solo i raccomandati e si ascolta la solita musica pop-dance o quelle tamarratee napoletane!!
July 17, 2009. Happy Birthday, Lou. You and I have the same birthday, but I have you beat by 4 years, though. I'm sure you don't mind, do you (heh-heh). I hope yours is enjoyable.
Well Songs for Polar Bears was released after the name change to Snow Patrol, I love that cd, I havn't heard anything from the Polar Bear era and I havnt heard anything from them new that isn't depressingly commercialized, but it's all personal preference I guess. Obviously some people like it just like I like the old stuff, and some people dont, like you.
Great sound ! I've just heard something new that gave me the chills : The song "Have oppressed our plains" by Nikö Laetailleurs". You can find it by writing *"Have oppressed our plains - Nikö Laetailleurs"* in the youtube search bar. Hoping my own feeling can become yours...
Yep Snow Patrol sure are influenced by Lou. Check out Reindeer Section (Snow Patrol side prject) for more obvious and unashamed Lou influences. In fact Reindeer Section was formed at a Lou Barlow gig
The Great LOU Barlow .......so what .......Who cares ???? SO you got dumped by some girl . It's not hit song material . Just common everyday blah blah blah
Traded gas station corn dogs for steaks. Can't blame the man. Life is about eating good food and traveling the world. I'm sure it's easier to do those 2 things with a little bit of cash coming in steady instead of playing shows for damn near free.
After several years I'm still astonished how many great songs the O.C. brought up. WOW!!
Their soundtrack is such a gold ❤

Lou Barlow saved my life!
The last few comments here were made 13 years ago. I’m revisiting this after a decade. It makes me smile.

Fox does not rock, but this song does. In fact, it rocks so much that it brought tears to my eyes. That's actually a high compliment.

I can't find the guitar! SOMEONE help me!
A small distortion effect with high tremelo
You gotta admire indie musicians, read an article recently that a lot barely have enough money to live, or they have some menial job on the side
I saw them in 1997 when they were still called Polar Bear. They were even worse than now.
HEY. WHAT KIND OF SYNTH IS THAT?!?!?!?! ANSWER ME!

Marissa and Ryan 💔
as much as i love lou as an artist, i must say he reminds awfully of nick drake, even in a creepy way.

Soo sad
he changed his lyrics a bit i think...but anyway, a good song
pragmatika to agapo auto to tragoudi...
makes me think of my ex, jesus
The Great LOU Barlow .......so what .......Who cares ???? SO you got dumped by some girl . It's not hit song material . Just common everyday blah blah blah
Lou sold out just like every other significant 90's star

I hope after 11 years you've realised how wrong you were.
