If these government companies are making so much profit then why privatise them? If earning from these companies is at all time high then what is the necessity to increase taxes each and every year

conomics is weak. govt in order to fulfill its liabilities like salaries, pensions, infrastructure schemes needs funds.... since govt is mostly in deficit... needs to borrow from market in order to fulfill liabilities. but excess borrowing is generally considered bad so the govt also employs other ways of getting revenues like disinvestment......
since the companies are making huge profits and shares are at all time high disinvestment at this time will fetch govt fair market value for the shares.... and hence disinvestment
Well the taxes have increased a great deal in the last few year and there dosen't seem to be an urgent need for huge funds.Selling some shares of government companies is okay but when you privatise a profit making company completely your dividend yiel and profits become zero and all you get is a one time price. And when the profit and market value of companies go up you make a lot more money through divident yields and direct profits each year; therefore it creates a balance. Whereas if you completely privatise the value you get may be invested in some other project but the profits completely vanish from the budget of the following years
@@maanas6543 privatization and disinvestment are two different terms. Privatization is done for a loss making company as it takes taxpayers money to run those sick companies so its better to call private players as they have good efficiency and funds to turn an entity and turn them profitable example : Air India which was privatized since it was making losses since ages.......
Disinvestment is selling stake like 5% 10% example : LIC . why would govt privatize a significant profit making company like HAL....policymakers consists of bureaucrats and specialized Individuals they have not lost their senses to take incompetent decisions don't worry. They are far learned that us
