I feel like John Mulaney is THIS close to writing a straight up broadway musical about his fictionalized childhood. Like the movie A Christmas Story, it would just be a bunch of odd vignettes about stuff that happened to him. Every song would be funny/sad like this one.

My grandfather died very early on in my mother's life before I was born. My grandmother never remarried or dated or anything. She just focused on raising seven kids and then being a grandmother. Its weird how I never gave that a second thought until now. She never talked about him and neither did my mother. Gotta loved traumatized, closed off, Irish Catholic families from the 60s.
