Saint Barthélémy: the chic island, but not only ;)

- Often described as a destination exclusively for the rich and famous, Saint-Barthélemy has much more to offer than the celebrity magazines and real estate agencies would have us believe.
During our visit, we discovered an authentic and warm island where "everyone knows everyone else" and where you quickly feel at home.
Contrary to popular belief, Saint Barth (as we say here) is not only made up of luxurious villas and brand name boutiques. If you venture off the beaten track, you can discover small, quiet neighborhoods and beautiful beaches with crystal clear turquoise waters.
The airport welcomes small planes from neighboring islands as well as a few private jets, but the atmosphere remains relaxed and friendly. For shopping, you can go to the Super U, the only supermarket on the island that offers a wide variety of traditional French products at very reasonable prices.
If, like us, you are traveling by boat, you should know that St. Barth offers only two anchorages, including Gustavia, which can be turbulent depending on the weather conditions. Prefer the Colombier anchorage for more tranquility.
Despite this, many people choose to live on their boats, attracted by the well-paid jobs on offer but aware that accommodation is scarce and extremely expensive. Some boaters come only for a season before heading south during the hurricane season.
Finally, unlike Barbuda, the island of St. Barts has recovered from the devastating passage of Hurricane Irma in 2017. Everything has been rebuilt and the island has regained its charm and natural beauty. All in all, St. Barts is a destination to discover for its hidden treasures and preserved authenticity.

J'ai été surprise de voir dans ce reportage beaucoup de végétation sèche,dans l'anse de Colombier, alors que partout ce n'est que luxuriance .
On comprend Johnny d'avoir choisi cette ile pour dernière demeure. ça reste une tombe sobre, pas un mausolée, au milieu des autres, à l'image de la simplicité des habitants.

Slt les matelots, vous avez vu des bébêtes ? Des baleines ?
Coucou! Pas vu de baleine non! On est parti trop tôt de St Barth, une baleine et son petit se sont aventurés dans la rade, 2 jours après notre départ !!
Sinon en Guadeloupe on a nagé avec des dauphins et à St Martin on en a vu au loin.
Et pour ce qui est de gros poissons il y a de temps en temps vers le bateau des barracudas, thazards et tarpons 😱 Ils font souvent 1m de long et font un peu flipper...! Bisous les copains
