Many years ago a female coworker and I were made honorary bros. It was Bosses Day. Our employer had a no alcohol under pain of expulsion rule. We managed to sneak a case of beer into the building. We gave it our department manager. The look on his face was a combination of horror and delight. He grabbed the case, put it in a box, and shoved the box under his desk.
About an hour later another office manager came into our office. "What? No flowers? Not even a balloon?" Our boss grinned and let him look in the box. Eventually all the bosses came by for a look. Come to find out the managers had a betting pool for who got the best Bosses Day gift. Our guy won $40. 😂

My wife couldn't understand why we travelled 90 miles to the coast, after working a 12hr nightshift, to go Sea Fishing, although I am not, in any way, shape or form a Fisherman!
I'll tell you why, PM, was violently seasick and passed out and me and Wheatabix, White Tshirt, Red Braces, Levis, DM's, Ginger hair, couldn't stop laughing at him, Bix said he was going to take a nap and laid down at the stern of the boat snd never moved again until we hit shore, with the whole side of his face burnt tomato red and the otherside green!
I caught the most fish, 'kin loads of Mackrell, PM caught nothing at all and I had to divvy up some of my fish, so that his missus didn't think there was something "Fishy" going on. I gave Bix a load of fish as well to make up his numbers. I had to drive PM's motor 90 miles back home because he was out it! So much for going Deep Sea Fishing in the English Channel with two hardened Fishermen!

You know, I'm female (and happy to be so) and I just watched this, and guys? It's not that different. A few of them made me go Blargh but the rest sounded like shit I and my female friends would do, and we would DEFINITELY throw a toilet off a cliff. (And then we'd go down, clean up the broken pieces, and see if we could make arrowheads out of them. Bet we could.)

More like pagan superstition on your part, coupled with the photography of the day. It wasn't digital, obviously, wasn't nearly as clear and accurate as it is today---and there is no such thing as a dead person becoming a ghost, and certainly not of anyone "watching over" others. Jesus Christ Himself makes that VERY clear in the Bible!!

Likely went looking for the bodies once doggo came home. Most people living in rural areas would want to know what their dog(s) accomplished when it came home bloodied, its tail torn/bitten off, its eye all swollen, so they go out searching.

As one commenter noted, the window in the truck is actually to allow drivers of such high trucks to see cars beside them. It's a bonus for the mutt that it's small enough to sit there and look out, but many big-rigs have them, so nothing special in that sense.

This is from the largely vertical trees hiding their shadows behind them. You see only the sunlit side of the trees. Right and left, some shade is visible behind the trees.

I believe that's a rather skilled form of hunting game for food, and that the rider wasn't in some sort of competition. I watched a documentary on Mongolia a few years ago, and I saw that very form of riding---the boys learn it at a very young age---but it's done only when hunting, not just to have fun. It's rather hard on the horse to have his rider leaning way over for any extended period of time (I'm not a horse person, nor have ever ridden, just recalling what was said in the video).

No, they don't.
Most of the miners live very close to the mines, typically within walking distance, and it's likely Dad walked home, got the boy, and they walked to the local ball field/stadium (whatever). It wasn't a big league game, and the locals are all in the same "keep the promise, don't worry about appearances" mindset.
Dad likely didn't have time to change clothes first, depending on the time the game started. Miners have to work very long hours, but he'd obviously made a promise to his little guy to take him to the game, and so he did the right and honorable thing---and didn't think for one second of your "standards" of what he "should" do first.
