Sometimes I forget that the G&N was once a tourist line until the 1278 incident in 1995 before the place officially closed down in 1996, at least the line is still used today for freight.
@@evanf1293 Well my son is glad to hear that he hopes and prays 🙏 that comes to pass. And he thinks Doodlebugs and Budd RDC'S are highly underrated rail transportation vehicles and all should be preserved, restored, and put back into service on lines that are not used anymore or don't get passenger service carrying both passengers and mail. He also thinks that Siemens, Progress Rail, or any other company that builds railroad equipment should build full size working replicas of them with modern features like recycled ♻️ aluminum bodies & chassis, Plexiglas or safety glass windows 🪟, Cummins, Caterpillar, or Genset diesel motors with mufflers and catalytic converters that run on biodiesel or renewable diesel, LED headlights, ditch lights, taillights, & strobe light, rechargeable batteries 🔋for the electrical systems, Wi-Fi, and electromagnetic emergency brakes.
Great little shortline that primarily hands off cars to csx..they have alittle yard with a wye where they drop cars for CSX and on other side of why CSX drops cars for Gettysburg.. they lock up engine each nite in a enginehouse...international paper is their biggest customer having a loading dock and inside the building place to unload cars and pick up cars...there is a trans load facility for the covered hoppers to trucks with a 3 car siding and then at the end of the line a fertilizer plant that sees covered hoppers..on that end is a interchange with NS although I dont see much traffic from them..I railfan this road about twice a week since I live less then 30 minutes away..their 2nd engine is a GP9 in Red with yellow Chevron stripes on the noses...it is Gettysburg #107....pretty sharp looking..train runs daily and is at a on call notice with its customers to move cars for them to unload or load..
You should come back! GETY 107, a high hood that is painted 1/2 in the world, and it has a great horn. 1001 is also here still. It makes for a great duo. Check my channel for the most recent and up to date footage of 107 since it returned. I'd love to see you chase it
Nice one!
Enjoyed it!

Well my special needs son thinks that they should run passenger trains on it again with RDC'S or Doodlebugs.
@@gretchenchadwick8343 They do have plans to bring back passenger trains, but as far as I know nothing regarding RDC's or Doodlebugs.
