I actually kinda enjoyed this movie. Was hoping they would make more like this. I didn't take this movie too seriously when I first saw it and I didn't compare it to the other two Halloween movies. That would be foolish.
The funny thing is according to Good Bad Flicks that infuriating Silver Shamrock jingle was a placeholder! They couldn't come up with anything else so they just sped up the crew member singing the song to make it sound like an ad XD
For some reason the third film is my favorite one of the series. It just had a creepy atmosphere and theme music and much gorier death scenes. There's only so many times that you can watch a masked killer slashing his victims with a knife before that act gets old.
I agree. It's weird, creepy, has great effects, everything I want from a horror movie. I like that they took chances rather than make another slasher movie that, atleast now, has been done to death.

I think it's funny how my perception of this movie has changed over time. As a preteen I refused to watch it because I knew it didn't have Michael Myers. Years later as a teenager I would end up seeing bits and pieces of it on TV and ended up enjoying what I saw, so I rented it and watch the entire movie and loved it. As an adult it's incredibly cheesy but still has a level of Awesomeness to it.
I really do feel that Halloween should have kept going the anthology route, because I think it would have been a lot better and a lot more interesting than the majority of those god awful sequels and the two Rob Zombie remakes we got.

I honestly like Halloween III, and I'm glad its become more popular in recent years...I kinda wish Carpenter's plan of turning Halloween into an anthology series had worked out, seems like there'd be so many more storytelling possibilities with a setup like that. Oh well, at least Michael Dougherty gave us Trick R Treat decades later, and here's to hoping the upcoming Halloween reboot/sequel will be worth the effort of reviving Myers once again (certainly helps that they got Carpenter back to handle things once again).

Yeah, this movie reminds me of a cross between like Phantasm, Prince of Darkness, and a Twilight Zone episode. It's not that bad, it's not good either but I think it's 'just okay'. Prince of Darkness is one of my favorite movies though.

Honestly, I still don't like this movie. Call me weak all you want, but I just don't like killing off really young and innocent kids in horror movies. Aside from that, the plot just tries to get me to accept a little bit more bullshit than I'm willing to. It having nothing to do with Michael Myers isn't even a problem for me.
I feel that's a bit strange. Are you saying that if the kid that died in that scene was just four arbitrary years older (he was exactly twelve at the time of this movie), it would suddenly be totally fine to watch his head ooze out creepy crawlies? It's totally okay to kill off innocent old, middle aged, young adult and teenage people? I get that children (especially babies) are seen rightfully as especially helpless, but thinking logically here, plenty of horror movies are designed specifically to watch people that are less powerful and more helpless than the killer get killed. A *big* part of legitimate horror is the genuine feeling of peril the protagonist and supporting characters are subjected to, and though some horror movies are designed to be entertaining and fun, other ones aren't meant for that. They're specifically meant to make you horrified. They're dealing with the subject of murder and death. I mean look at A Nightmare on Elm Street. Practically nobody stands even a tiny bit of a chance of surviving against Krueger. It's terribly unfair and just because someone _has premarital sex_ or smoked a little weed then they are worthy of slaughter? That's a warped justification for thinking it's okay for someone to die, but people seem to mention it a lot when discussing horror movies. Obviously it's just a movie and some of my favorite slasher flicks just have all sorts of innocent deaths like Friday the 13th: Part VI, but this critique comes off as a bit nonsensical just because it happened to make someone uncomfortable. I mean, that is the entire point of the horror genre - to get under your skin. Is it not? There's a few other rather good horror stories and films that have kids die in them. Stephen King's IT comes to mind. Even R.L. Stine didn't shy away from a child death every once and a while and his stuff was generally campy fun and made specifically for kids.
Alright? I love Prince of Darkness! All the classic Carpenter parts, with Alice Cooper randomly murdering people in the background. At least until he went back on tour or why ever he stopped showing up
To tie this movie in with the others I like to think that Michael's mask was made by silver shamrock and gave him power or invincibility or whoever puts that certain mask on becomes Michael. Just my head Canon obviously

I absolutely love Season of the Witch. I watch it every year. It sucks that the mindless public ruined this anthology. Halloween 4 was supposed to revolve around Vampires. Now we are left with Michael Myers schlock from now until eternity.

Yeah, this movie reminds me of a cross between like Phantasm, Prince of Darkness, and a Twilight Zone episode. It's not that bad, it's not good either but I think it's 'just okay'. Prince of Darkness is one of my favorite movies though.

Honestly, I still don't like this movie. Call me weak all you want, but I just don't like killing off really young and innocent kids in horror movies. Aside from that, the plot just tries to get me to accept a little bit more bullshit than I'm willing to. It having nothing to do with Michael Myers isn't even a problem for me.
I feel that's a bit strange.
Are you saying that if the kid that died in that scene was just four arbitrary years older (he was exactly twelve at the time of this movie), it would suddenly be totally fine to watch his head ooze out creepy crawlies? It's totally okay to kill off innocent old, middle aged, young adult and teenage people? I get that children (especially babies) are seen rightfully as especially helpless, but thinking logically here, plenty of horror movies are designed specifically to watch people that are less powerful and more helpless than the killer get killed. A *big* part of legitimate horror is the genuine feeling of peril the protagonist and supporting characters are subjected to, and though some horror movies are designed to be entertaining and fun, other ones aren't meant for that. They're specifically meant to make you horrified. They're dealing with the subject of murder and death.
I mean look at A Nightmare on Elm Street. Practically nobody stands even a tiny bit of a chance of surviving against Krueger. It's terribly unfair and just because someone _has premarital sex_ or smoked a little weed then they are worthy of slaughter? That's a warped justification for thinking it's okay for someone to die, but people seem to mention it a lot when discussing horror movies. Obviously it's just a movie and some of my favorite slasher flicks just have all sorts of innocent deaths like Friday the 13th: Part VI, but this critique comes off as a bit nonsensical just because it happened to make someone uncomfortable. I mean, that is the entire point of the horror genre - to get under your skin. Is it not?
There's a few other rather good horror stories and films that have kids die in them. Stephen King's IT comes to mind. Even R.L. Stine didn't shy away from a child death every once and a while and his stuff was generally campy fun and made specifically for kids.
