So many thanks for explaining the words from the Bulgarian!!!! I am a native Spanish and French speaker and the pronunciation is not too different!! Spectacular!! Thank you🎉🎉
Thomas, you are the best music composer in the world. The diversity of genres you have is unprecedented. Celebrating 6 years of listening to TSFH. I wish one day I would attend the live orchestra of your music.
I come back to this song often. There is something spiritual and energetic to this song - the buildup, the voices, the sound scapes. It lights up my heart and fires up my imagination - to imagine a better life and a better world for us all. May the eternal spark within you shine bright, always
As some of you comment, yes, Thomas used lyrics from the bulgarian folk song "Zakukala e kukuvitsa" I have search and found the "Phonetic" of the bulgarian lyrics, but Thomas made a mix of the verses, is not as the original and it repeat some phrases and words. I took the job of listen and select the phrases according of this masterpiece. Here is the result. Note: "mislae" and "na" is not from the original song I tried to found by ear what words might be and those two might be wrong (and yes "cuckoo" like the bird, the original song have a cuckoo impresion in the lyrics). Greetings from Mexico from a big, big fan of Thomas Bergersen. Really hope you like it, as a Thomas B. fan I know what is to search and search the bulgarian lyrics of some of Thomas songs and no results on the "latin" phonetic :P I made my best to get this. (At the end of the song, the choir repeat some phrases and parts)
Bulgarian here. First of all i am astounded by the fact that you've made so much effort in order to make it latin alike. And in the verse where you wonder what the words mean - its kukovitsa e, not kucko misae (кукувица е) where "e" is the 3p.s. like "she is" (the bird). Also the word is pronounced differntly in order to rhyme. Sorry for my bad English :D i haven't been using it for the past few years. Have a good day!
Alex Kotsev Wow! Thanks a lot! I was making the lyrics just by ear with the original text on hand not knowing the real meaning of the lyrics. Now with your help and with the comment of +TheNexusChronus I can find a meaning of the text and the correct way that the lyrics should be. Now with knowing the meaning and the correct phonetic, the lyrics would be like this (sorry my bad english): In Zakukala e kukuvitsa (TheNexusChronus put kukuvica but in the original song written in english phonetic they used the "s" and I use that one because I can hear the choir pronunce the "s") so: Zakukala e kukuvitsa (Uh -or- Um -just for rhyme-) Rano mi, rano za Gergiovden Kato kuka, kakvo li duma? So its a song for St. George's day? How lovely - IMO St. George can be patron for all of our nations in Europe. :) Blessings and Warm Wishes to all of you my fellow Europans - esp my Slavic brethren :) God and St. George ! Sainthood and knighthood ! Honor and Motherland !
Thomas Bergersen has been my favorite composer for years. Something I love about his music is that each song is very unique, yet I can recognize his work almost instantly. This song just started playing automatically, never heard it before. Immediately knew it was Bergersen’s work.

You take lyrics taken from a Bulgarian folk song and derive music as a variation to the Greek composer Vangelis'es "Conquest of Paradise" and insta-hit 😄
This songs brings me on top of a high mountain, singing with thousands of people at the end of times. We look upon the world, how we made it to be. We sing about leaving it behind and embrace better times to come.
I hear beautiful voices from bulgarian folk song from Bulgaria, who telling about the "St. George", feast who we celebrate of May 6 in my country. Congratulations for the music. :)
Bergersen and Phoenix will always be my top favorite composers, followed closely by Hans Zimmerman. All three create such awesome music, this track is awesome!
Great beyond the stars and light, Darkness roam in ever sight. Rocks and fire, matter alike, With planets born and meteor strike. Giver of life and snatcher of death, Barren worlds or sustainable breath. The colors were there, with hate or love, To those that stare the stars above.
Experiencing this song was pure magic. Its notes washed over me, bringing an incredible feeling of freedom that took my breath away. I can't thank you enough, Thomas, for this unforgettable moment.
TSFH is a whole other world. A world that cannot be understood by everyone. Im following their work since my childhood and their music feels way different than other musicians'. I can't imagine any other studio to make such music. That's when you know, what you're seeing is totally unique. When you can't find any similarities with other songs. TSFH's songs are FULL of emotions. Every second, every moment tell a story. A story, figured out by ones brain. These masterpieces greatly helped me when I started writing my books about drama, fantasy and romance. Books that are fully about emotions. A huge thanks for Thomas, your songs always help me with my personal problems. Im writing this comment from my homecountry, a small country in Central Europe, between the Carpathian Mountains, Hungary.
It's not wrong that a picture tells a thousand words. But a great piece of music inspires emotion, enthralls its audience, conveys a meaning that is wholly different to each and everyone to hear it, and stays with a listener long after the last note plays in a way no other artistic medium can ever hope to achieve.
As someone who usually doesn't like Bulgarian songs being interpreted in any form different from the original, I have to say that this piece was very nice to listen to. If you guys like the sound of ancient Bulgarian music, make sure to check also the Mystery of Bulgarian Voices.
I only sense and feel happiness all around me when i listen to this song.. The peace i feel is like walking into paradise and seeing all these happy people devoid of hate and filled with peace. It changed my soul
The most beautiful song in my life. I always remind myself that I listened to this song on my birthday on 8th of December in 2014, it was like 2 o'clock in the morning...ahh the memories.
dang... i'm only an English speaker (with a fairly simple understanding of some Latin) but my goodness if the vocals aren't amazing...reading through earlier comments it seems to be Bulgarian, seems like a beautiful language.
How can music be so wonderful. How can the world we live not be as wonderful. Why can't we all have a fanatic life, who is stopping us, for not livening our life to the wonders?.
......behold the Father's glory-the 70 nations that are now 209 nations.....behold the glory of all the Sons and Daughters of Heaven......I bear witness......Gary Hinchman
That's the payoff! Most music can't pull that off, most songs don't try to build for a payoff and those that do don't always succeed at it. It's one of the things that make this song a great, and one of Bergersen's best.

Thomas, you are the best music composer in the world. The diversity of genres you have is unprecedented. Celebrating 6 years of listening to TSFH. I wish one day I would attend the live orchestra of your music.

Just beautiful! If somebody wonders what they are singing about- it's the 6th of May- Gergiovden (St. Georgy) , early in the morning...
one of best music ive ever listened .love from egypt to Bulgaria💙🙌
I come back to this song often. There is something spiritual and energetic to this song - the buildup, the voices, the sound scapes. It lights up my heart and fires up my imagination - to imagine a better life and a better world for us all.
May the eternal spark within you shine bright, always
Me too; it’s trancelike
As some of you comment, yes, Thomas used lyrics from the bulgarian folk song "Zakukala e kukuvitsa"
I have search and found the "Phonetic" of the bulgarian lyrics, but Thomas made a mix of the verses, is not as the original and it repeat some phrases and words.

Now with knowing the meaning and the correct phonetic, the lyrics would be like this (sorry my bad english):
In Zakukala e kukuvitsa (TheNexusChronus put kukuvica but in the original song written in english phonetic they used the "s" and I use that one because I can hear the choir pronunce the "s") so:
Zakukala e kukuvitsa
(Uh -or- Um -just for rhyme-) Rano mi, rano za Gergiovden
Kato kuka, kakvo li duma?
Mladi momi i nevesti
Кato kuka, rano mi rano
Kako duma na Gergiovden?
Na Gergiovden, rano mi rano
Rano mi rano
Kato zakukala e rano
Rano, zakukala e rano
rano, za Gergiovden rano
Kukala Gergiovden
(Thanks a lot +TheNexusChronus for this correct part of the song)
(Orchestra)
Kato zakukala e rano
Rano, zakukala e rano
rano, za Gergiovden rano
Kukala Gergiovden
Zakukala rano mi rano
Zakukala rano mi rano
Rano rano kukovitsa e! (Thanks a lot Alex Kotsev for the correct word)
Rano kukovitsa e kuko rano
Zakukala e kukuvitsa
(Uh -or- Um -just for rhyme) Rano mi, rano za Gergiovden
Kato kuka, kakvo li duma?

You take lyrics taken from a Bulgarian folk song and derive music as a variation to the Greek composer Vangelis'es "Conquest of Paradise" and insta-hit 😄
So the song is about St Gorge’s day?! I’ve never thought of that!
Thanks
Thanks so much. You’re a gem. 😂🤣👍
Много впечатляваща музика, не мога да спра да я слушам, перфектно,силно,красиво!!!
I'm convinced after hearing the full album, that Bergersen has the potential to become the new Zimmer, if not better.
i dont want him to be the 2nd Zimmer, rather 1st Bergersen!
Technically, It's just TSFH I prefer to put them in one group, that they're all in so none are left out, and all are the best.

This songs brings me on top of a high mountain, singing with thousands of people at the end of times. We look upon the world, how we made it to be. We sing about leaving it behind and embrace better times to come.

Stunning - also mad for his epic "Empire of Angels" ❤❤❤
Empire of angels is my current fave TSFH track.
Great beyond the stars and light,
Darkness roam in ever sight.
Rocks and fire, matter alike,
With planets born and meteor strike.
Giver of life and snatcher of death,
Barren worlds or sustainable breath.
The colors were there, with hate or love,
To those that stare the stars above.
Music awakens the mind and livens the muse :D

OMG... For so many years this song is given me pure joy. Thanks Thomas! ❤
Every time i listen to Thomas's music i believe more and more he is the greatest modern classical composer that has ever lived.
Warm wishes and all the blessings from Poland 💜✌🤝

It's not wrong that a picture tells a thousand words.
But a great piece of music inspires emotion, enthralls its audience, conveys a meaning that is wholly different to each and everyone to hear it, and stays with a listener long after the last note plays in a way no other artistic medium can ever hope to achieve.
Amen. Music is life.
There are special places in heaven for those legendary individuals that made such music.

Hi krasioizgrev90, what ceremony or event does Zakukala e kukuvitsa usually used for? and what's the back story of this song?
It's a folk song about 6th of May - St.George's Day (Gergyovden).
I only sense and feel happiness all around me when i listen to this song.. The peace i feel is like walking into paradise and seeing all these happy people devoid of hate and filled with peace. It changed my soul

This man is such a genius at composing music that gives me goosebumps.

+smackedinthejaw AGREE !! But this moment, of "perfection", just becomes to what it sounds like, due to the 4:56 min before. :D
+smackedinthejaw Amen. One of the best bits in all of TB's music.
That's the payoff! Most music can't pull that off, most songs don't try to build for a payoff and those that do don't always succeed at it. It's one of the things that make this song a great, and one of Bergersen's best.
