As an African American, I say that we struggle with an identity crisis in general. Some of us don't want to be called African or have anything to do with Africa. Some of us embrace our African ancestry and uphold our African retention through foods, music, culture, traditions, and rituals. We change our names, fly to the Caribbean, and to several African countries, and we even relocate there. Africa is in our DNA. We have taken numerous tests to find where we come from and where we belong.

Thank you for such a thought-provoking comment, Barry. The African identity is elusive, and we all struggle to grasp it (even African Africans). This could further expose the level at which the African identity has been tainted and detached from its people; we are all struggling to reconcile with it and doing that journey together might assist in bringing all the pieces together.
