AS Began in 2009 and ended in 2018. They released their first record in 2012 (Boys and Girls) with the hit single Hold On having been nominated for 3 Grammys. Sound and Color was released 3 years later and debued #1 on the Billboard 200, winning three Grammys. It all ended in 2018 when the lead singer, Brittany Howard, decided she wanted to go solo and forge her own musical direction less any band members interference. I got to see them perform at The Pavilion in Portsmouth, VA on 9-16-2016….. very grateful for that. The band was ON POINT! Brittany Howard was great. I felt this was the best band that had come along in a very long time and was devastated when it all ended after only 2 records. They had it all, but sadly let it slip away. Some must listens: Hang Loose/ I Don’t Wanna Fight/ U Ain’t Alone/ Gimme All U Got/ Future People/Be Mine/Hold On. Great reaction, TY.
