If you don't know what you are doing, please do not just try and do this. Some older battery cells (and newer ones) contain cadmium and cobalt which are extremely toxic and can kill you if inhaled (you are drilling it).
Only Can use specific power to make it turn.

It works with any cylindrical objects. Don't mess with batteries, use something like a PVC pipe instead.

This is a alkaline cell it will not burn or explode if it was a lithium cell this guy was dead

How to make a drill...
Step 1. Grab another drill...
This is really cool, but all you actually need is a rubber band, you wrap it around the bit and then put it into the chuck with the rubber band wrapped around, lock the chuck to it and you're good to go, no need spending money if you already have a drill lol
now that is a pretty cool invention.
Never, and I repeat NEVER drill Into a battery no matter what kind and especially lithium batteries, the stuff inside these batteries can be toxic and if you do this with a lithium one, you're genuinely putting your life at risk as the battery can catch on fire and explode.

He says to use safety equipment. If you take the necessary steps to prevent any dangers, it's safe, even lithium ones. Only do it if you know what you're doing though!!!
Dismantling those alkaline batteries is just messy. Fun little project but easier just to use a piece of PVC tube from the hardware store.

If you want to make a really cool little drill like this use brass or copper tubing those will patina and look awesome or if you need it cheap as can be use pvc pipe

This video does not specify what type of battery you should be aiming for. It is very misleading because if someone would try the same thing with acumulators or lithium batteries, they would be welcomed with self-made disaster instead of a drill.
