Hi David, as the publisher mentions, Many game enthusiasts will rightly notice the similarities between this game and Click Clack Lumberjack (CCL). This game was inspired in many ways by that game and is considered the "spiritual successor" to CCL. While the rules and theme are different, it certainly was an influencer to this game's development.
This game is a ripoff. The publishers lost the rights to publish Click Clack Lumberjack/Toc Toc Woodman and Bling Bling Gemstone in the US, so they made made their own version and don't have a license from the original designer. Do not back this!
@@TheGameBoyGeeks Who considers this game the "spiritual successor" to CCL? That sounds like some fancy language for saying "buy this instead of CCL because we updated it but don't want the original designer and publisher to make any money from their game." Does the fact that the Bamboo Bash publisher was the former U.S. publisher of CCL who developed this reimplementation after their contract to publish CCL ended inform your thinking at all? What do you think about the fact that the original designer and publisher of CCL are upset about this and opposed to it?

Wow Brett, you get around, posting this same comment on all social media and everywhere you can find all in one day. If you'd like to discuss this directly please email sleevekings at gmail dot com and we can talk. Please take a step back and think about this. The name is different, the theme is different, the scoring is different, the rules are very different, the pieces are different, the way the pieces lock in place, the height of the tower, the hitting part (paw) is different. Other than the fact that we took inspiration from Toc Toc Woodman, what exactly is the same? If you knock off pieces you score points, if you knock off middle pieces you lose points. Other than that what is the same? If this is a "ripoff" then are all the deck building games since Dominion also ripoffs? Did you come out so strongly against Thunderstone when it was released because it has players draw 6 cards instead of 5? There is such a thing as direct ripoffs, just go to walmart and look at the Jenga and the "no definitely not Jenga" toys for sell there. Those are clearly ripoffs, though actually legally done since they change the name. But Bamboo Bash is about as far from a "rip off" to Toc Toc Woodman as any deckbuilding game is to Dominion. If you disagree please move along and don't support us, but understand that innovation in our industry frequently comes from mixing old ideas with new ones to create something new and different. Please wait a few weeks until our new project is launched and see if you don't see this as an innovation rather than a ripoff. We respect your right to disagree but legally and morally this is not a "rip off" in any sense of the word.
@@sleevekings9492 I think the fact that you're using Click Clack Lumberjack/Toc Toc Woodman in your promotional materials and even referencing reviews of that game to support this new, slightly different version, puts lie to that. The original designer is not even involved with this version, correct?
@@BrettMyersGameDesigner We specifically quote SU&SD as saying: "So there is one big problem with Jenga, which is that the game ends as soon as anyone makes a mistake; a heart beat of elation that it wasn't you that screwed up, followed by the sort of dissatisfaction amid the ruble of the game. That's not ideal." We then immediately reference the exact quote and link to it. Yes that is from a review of Tok Tok Woodman by SU&SD. The entire quote says NOTHING about Bamboo Bash OR Tok Tok Woodman, it merely points out that the mechanic of Jenga is flawed and that dexterity games that do differently are more appealing. You trying to turn that into some nefarious thing or say that somehow means our game, Bamboo Bash, is somehow infringing on Tok Tok, either in terms of its intellectual property or even morally is just hyperbole and factually incorrect. If you have some legal or moral claim as to how we are INFRINGING on Tok Tok please state it. As we stated above, the name, art, rules, gameplay AND scoring are all different from that game.
It appears Kickstarter's website had major issues yesterday at the time of launch (like showing $0 raised even though it had 100 backers quickly after launching, as well as not showing up at all on the search or explore screens within Kickstarter). It will be re-launching again in March, so stay tuned to the Game Boy Geek Facebook and Twitter pages for when it relaunches.

This is being made without credit to the designer and without his approval (he is actually vocally opposed to this project). It’s a complete reimplementation of Click Clack Lumberjack. The US publisher lost the rights to make it and is trying to put it out under an imprint of theirs and pass it off as a new game. Gross. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
This is the exact same game as: Tok Tok Woodman / Click Clack lumberjack / Bling Bling Gemstone.
