    Finally got round to doing this job. Your video made it really easy. It was amazing how corroded my cables were, yet still partially functioning. Cheers.

    thank you man, it helped me reinstalling my old defy shifting cabels. it was in a mess and inner pipes are not there. By watching your video I see what it was supposed to be like originally

    Brilliant video, putting a new group set on my TCR, this helped so much, especially in replacing the cable guide for gear cables. Thanks

    Wow! I literally just bought this bike with a view to strip the Ultegra groupset (already pre-sold the parts) and replace with campy 12 (or Di2). How incredibly timely - thank you for all you do! 🙏🏻

    I hate internal cable routing. Your video was very helpful running new shifter cables.

    Good job on the vid. I've been there with Giant's liners developing holes and cable not going through. Major PIA.That's one thing that can go wrong. So many others also. At least the weekend warriors feel like champs with the internal routing saving them watts🤣. But it sells bike. What once was a 5 minute job can now take an hour or more.

    Thanks so much for this tutorial 💕
    Saved me a lot of time trying to figure out how to change my shift cables
    Interesting how the spliced cable outters at the BB were warn through ! I always learn a lot by watching your work 👍

    Wish you'd posted this video a few months earlier, when I re-cabled my Defy last year I had a bit of a struggle with that bottom bracket cable guide all bent up with holes in 😬😄

    Hello, thanx but, you didn't show, around 17:45, how you put the barrel on the cable before you attached it to the front shifter. This is my 1st go around with this type of bike and that would have been helpful, otherwise everything is A1 stuff. Thanx again and keep up the good work!

    Would love a tutorial on changing the wheel bearings on the velo rl50 carbon wheelset, sold through sigma sports, great videos,I have learnt a lot over the years from them.

    Great video and a massive help. Thanks. How did you attach the jagwire slick tube liner to the head tube "bung" and the little white plastic stoppers?

  • @mrmmccready
    @mrmmccready ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is very helpful - thanks! Having tried it now the problem I have is feeding the new tubes through the guides beneath the bottom bracket without kinking them multiple times. Does anyone have any tips on how to avoid that?

    • @stefanopassiglia
      @stefanopassiglia 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just went through that. What I did is to keep the old shifter cable inside the tubes so they don't bend too much and get pinched

    Thanks for the detailed video! I’m adding a front derailleur to my Giant Revolt (currently in a 1x setup) which has the same routing system to your defy. Do you happen to have the length of your outer cable housing that runs from your frame to the front shifter? I have no point of reference to measure the new housing to as you suggested, since the front derailleur cable was removed

    Useful video! Any recommendations for the tube I need to insert into the chainstay to capture the plastic inner coming down from the head tube end? Seems to be quite a specific size 🤔

    • @davidridge5639
      @davidridge5639 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Spoiler: tried to sleeve the old inner with a bit of electrical sleeving but it was too soft (and old inner too mangled). Decided to wing it... Offered the aforementioned sleeving in to see if the new inner would 'find' it and it did. Job's a good 'n.

    Hi. Great video. I am about to do this on my Defy. Can you tell me, is there a sleve along the rear stay for the rear mech cable

    • @FreeToCycle
      @FreeToCycle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nothing in the chain stay!

  • @c0olcast

    Thanks for the super informative video. Where can you get the replacement cable "sleeves"? I've got Defy which needs new shift cables and the "sleeves" are worn through, just like in your video. THX!

      I used the Jagwire "Slick-Lube Liner" for replacement outers. Seems to be available from tons of places online

      You can get the part from Giant Spares UK. I have just bought some.

      In a few years they won't be available and the bike will be junk. Thanks Giant.

    Really helpful video 👍 Do you know what internal/external diameter the replacement outers are for inside the down tube?

    • @jordanmasters41
      @jordanmasters41 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used the Jagwire "Slick-Lube Liner" for replacement outers. There is a shift (1.9mm OD) and brake (2.4mm OD) version so make sure you get the right one

  • @stefanopassiglia
    @stefanopassiglia 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Giant has done a crappy job with those inner tubes. I replaced both of them and ran the back shifter tube also inside the chainstay, otherwise there's no way to run the back shifter cable up to the shifter.

      Is it possible to drill a larger hole in that headtube plate to fit a normal thick outer cable all the way from handlebars to the rear derailleur as one piece? This would be a lot more reliable in my opinion
