    VR is immersive enough that you'll sweat your ass off, throwing absolute haymakers at opponents. The fact that swinging harder does more damage gives you all the more reason to go all out. • @akagordon
    @akagordon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +60

    I love Thrill of the Fight! It's the primary reason I got an Oculus after having watched several boxers use it and 95% of what I do in VR is virtual boxing. One thing worth pointing out is that the difficulty can be customized if an opponent is too hard or easy. For instance, handicaps can be added in the forms of weaker punches, faster opponents, or greater stamina for opponents. The number of rounds could be the simplest way to adjust a workout; just pick an opponent you have trouble with, then add a round or two. The flexibility, and portability, makes TotF in VR a serious choice for cardio.

      Honestly I noticed a substantial difference in my cardio for sparring when I started playing this game a lot more. I treat it like a real sparring session and only use really techniques, not attempts to exploit the AI or anything. Like Stephen kept squaring up to the ai opponent (which you can do without consequence in thrill of the fight) but I always keep an orthodox stance (unless I've slipped in which case I always square up then anyway).
      It has helped me tremendously in my real fighting. It also works really well for increasing your reflexes, which cannot be trained with traditional shadow boxing.
      Vr boxing does a tremendous job of bridging the gap between real sparring and shadow boxing. I'd consider it to be most similar to shadow boxing on steroids.

    Another thing that makes this tiring is the fact that you are punching the air the whole time. When you hit a bag or a person, your hands forward momentum is stopped by them and you can just retract your hand. But when you box the air like this you need to stop your own punch’s momentum and then bring it back.

    Think the first fight when Thompson had full energy, just shows how good he is and how he would literally kill any normal person in a fight.

    I put the headset on a traditional shotokan Karate blackbelt with the very same game :) after 10s he went totally berserk and shouted "take it off, take it off" :D It really showed him the difference in sparring with a boxer and the close/midrange distance fighting, compared with the bouncing one point long distance fighting :) I think Its a great workout, but he hated it :D I would probobly look just as weird if I had a one-point game, or one point sparring on his club :D

    Wait. If you have a cage and a ring and you are playing VR boxing…..why are you not in the boxing ring? Also if they had a bag it would probably really add to the immersion to actually be hitting something solid.

    They just announced the sequel, which will have online. Imagine coming home from a rough day at work and wanting to get a few rounds in online, and you get matched up with wonderboy or max holloway.
    Games gonna have real life sweats.

    It always surprises me how much of a workout some VR games are. I play one shooting game where you move down a track shooting targets and dodging bullets (it’s called pistol whip), it’s a crazy arm workout because you’re constantly lowering your hand to your hip to reload and raising to aim as fast as possible, and it ends up being a crazy workout for the arms after 10 minutes of playing. I gotta try a boxing game though this looks fun

    I am the man at this game. Thought I would knock someone spark out in real life with my skills. Boy was I wrong! Got into a fight with a rolling 20's crip. long story short, he whooped my ass and his homies packed me out. I'm in heaven now......man I wish I never got a quest.

    Crazy thing is, if you own this game you can actually just stand there downward slapping the top of the head in a circular motion, in the most casual way without breaking a sweat.
    It kind of breaks the game but it's a thing.
