Well said. I know many new money that contribute to charities but expect a huge payback in the form of recognition and attention. It is for publicity. Anonymous giving by “old money” is understated. It is hard wired in from how you are raised that you need to give back and support others less fortunate. It is simply the right thing to do. It does not need to be monetary-donating time and effort is free and priceless.
I used to like new money, because I've always been poor, so as soon as I got more money, and could finalyl afford stuff, i wanted to take the most of it but now, the more i "grow up" (bc I'm already well in the adulthood haha), I tend to be more and more attracted by old money like things, but that's because I have very strong values and principles, and I'm not willing to change them, and old money families that I know hav most of them, so I think raising myself like that makes me identify more with them, idk how to explain this correctly (+english isn't my first language and i'm tired rn XD)
