    When ever you have to take it off you should put 8" solid cinder blocks under the legs. that will give you more clearance and have to do less cranking. Also you can get electric leg with motors that will eliminate having to crank by hand. I hope to see more videos soon.

    • @LostRenegades
      @LostRenegades  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      we will 100% be splurging for those electric legs lol we have a couple more months to save up for them

      I agree big time and the electric legs are awesome and they also make with self leveling

      Take the leg jacks off and put them in the garage !

    Great upgrade on the truck!!! A 3500 Diesel with dually tires will carry the load and take you where you want to go. Some will say that an 8 ft bed is better but the shorter wheel base when off-road can actually be an advantage. Good to see the two of you back and look forward to seeing the build make it meet your own needs. The smiles were nice also 😁

  • @IEnigIMa
    @IEnigIMa ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You need a cab over mount kit to secure you camper to the bed. It needed to be installed first, then load camper. Turn buckles to secure it. Invest in electric jacks with extensions. You needed an 8 foot bed,…blah blah blah blah….lol. You guys are awesome. ❤❤❤

    Fyi and someone has probably said, when our camper is off the truck for any length of time we keep something under the main body of the camper so the jacks aren't carrying the full weight of the camper.

    Ok my Loved ones ,, Next time sit it on blocks and rig you up something high to set it on ! Also make sure the blocks are high enough to give you plenty of room to slide it into 5he truck . Don't ever feel stupid about this, I know lots of guys who have made this same mistake ! ! I'm just so stoked to see a new vid from you guys .

    • @LostRenegades

    Saw that video when you bought the truck -- sorry, I knew immediately there was NO WAY that was gonna work. I also knew you would figure it out VERY soon -- it was that far from workable. I've also gotta suggest that the lift you're currently sporting, while fine for serious off-roading, is something of an issue for hauling an overhead camper. I'd recommend dropping that lift by at least 2/3s -- you won't likely miss it off-road and you don't really want it the rest of the time, with or without the camper. Cool that you two are rolling coal, though...Love the DuraMaxx!

    A couple things, I noticed water dripping when the front of the camper was tilted down, you may have to chase some leaks, and im not sure but i think that camper may be for a full 8 foot box, which will put your campers center of gravity around another 9 inches further back if that box is 6'5"

    • @LostRenegades
      @LostRenegades  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That water was from the rain in the morning on top of the roof lol it scared me at first too! We really didn't want an 8ft bed as the camper will mainly be off the truck and the truck will be a daily driver so hopefully it works out this way

    much better choice of truck for sure! i would have gone with a 3500 myself if you plan to travel all over with it but that will get the job done! keep in mind that diesels cost a good bit more to maintain and to fix when they break. be sure to have a financial cushion built up in case something breaks!

    Do you know where that camper's center of gravity is? It looked like as the camper sat down on the back the front raised up, meaning your center of gravity is behind your rear axle. That's could be a problem with drivability and stress on your frame.

  • @Porky46
    @Porky46 ปีที่แล้ว

    yes... you definitly need electric or hydraudic legs for this monster - special if one will work inside and the other is using the picup (truck)... but how on earth can the dog go in and out easy??? (a lift for dogs?)

    • @LostRenegades
      @LostRenegades  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha we are definitely looking into electric jacks for sure! We will have steps for the dogs when the camper is on the truck and when it’s off it will be at its lowest so the dogs can walk right in

      did you put the camper on blocks in the truck bed . big no no camper must sit on the bed of the truck very unstable on blocks it could roll off the blocks then well not good @@LostRenegades

    • @furchaser

      and for the 8' bed the camper is made for 8' bed not a 6' the anchor points are off and will make the camper unstable could come lose and fall out of the truck on uneven roads especially on the blocks @@LostRenegades

    Wrong truck again. Too much rear over hang you are going to bend/crack the frame. Also why the 4x4 fence post?

    • @LostRenegades
      @LostRenegades  ปีที่แล้ว

      The truck is rated for twice the weight of the camper I would be shocked if it damaged the frame. And the 4x4 is what we needed to raise the camper about the side of the bed

      @@LostRenegades you'll learn. I did. I used to go chevy too. Then I got into towing. The line goes Ford, Dodge, Chevy when it comes to trucks. Dodge would beat Ford if they'd figure out how to build a transmission. Chevy is the cheapest for a reason. My F550 was a monster that pulled Chevy's out of the ditch every day. Chevy cars are cheap too. They rattle, they break. A Chevy is one step above a Chinese made vehicle.

    Do you happen to know what year this GMT900 body Chevy Silverado 3500 HD crew cab with the 6.5' bed & the 6.6 liter Duramax V8 diesel engine is? I found out that the previous truck was a 2020 model year, but this one is a little older.
