I've been a Django Reinhardt collector for over 55 years, and know his musical qualities from the inside out. While this collection has some interesting AI attempts at capturing the style made popular by Django and other real players, I did find one track that best approximates the sound of a real player of Gypsy Jazz swing music: cue the video at 2:11:22.....title unknown, but it was fun to hear this one for a more fresh, realistic guitar sound and improvisation approach. Then find the real Django Reinhardt music and have your mind blown--Try the songs "Coquette", "Embraceable You", "After You've Gone" (1949 version) and "Just One Of Those Things" for starters. Cheers!
This is a very fun and interesting performance "for an AI". I'm a guitarist since 1970, and I love this video, especially the section that starts at 2:11:22.

Thank you very much for those four hours of Django. He's not only an exceptional musician but he's an exemple, a model of resilience after his dramatic accident when he had to play with only two fingers of his left hand: th-cam.com/video/aZ308aOOX04/w-d-xo.html
This AI crap is ruining music, because: 1) Many novice ears don’t know the many human qualities missing, which undermines their musical sensibilities and cultivation 2) It removes the social dimension of music, which has been fundamental to music for millennia, turning everything into the equivalent of disembodied mechanical “drum tracks”, void of any actual enjoyment by human players. 3) It violates copyrights, pays no royalties, and undermines the human profession, artistry and creativity needed for this to exist in the first place. 4) It completely warps and destroys an accurate historical memory of human culture. 5) And simply making this comment will help this channel make money
this painting of django is somewhat wrong. he lost two fingers on his left hand due to fire accident in his place of living so he could only use two fingers so i would say that in the least it is not an accurate painting. his fame came much later in his life and career
No humans played music for this recording. It is AI generated fake music. No musicians were paid. No musicians will earn royalties. This is noise pollution, not real music, made for fools and idiots by someone motivated solely by greee and willing to steal ideas and time people should spend listening to other people of talent instead of this garbage.
It is quite remarkable. The first reason I got suspicious, was that the recording quality was too modern, and the very high end of the Guitar sounded pinched, like it’s beyond the register of an actual guitar, and that some of the virtuosity seemed beyond the capability of Django himself, let alone any imitators. Usually this stuff, AI created music, is crap, because it is lowest common denominator within genre. The philosophical discussion gets more complicated when the music starts to swing. I’m a professional musician, I’ve traveled around the world, I’ve had the opportunity to play with a great many truly wonderful musicians. Yes, this stuff is threatening, and there are many discussions to be had. To play, devils advocate, let’s assume the creator or creators of this track don’t have musical talent, maybe even envy it, or maybe have a deep musicianship, but no facility with any particular instrument. Do they not have the right to create something like this? What about when creators of synthesized scores from the last several decades -who would painstakingly put together a film composition, or even the great Les Paul, slowing down the tape deck so he could accomplish superhuman playing? Is it artificial and vapid? Or is it bordering on Intelligent, by genuinely predicting what Django might have done in a different situation? Does it make a difference when you are synthesizing new music in the styles of musicians whose work is now public domain? There is SO much to address here.
Now, this is starting to get chilling! When did you become aware that it was fake? And before you were aware, did it seem to swing for you at all, was it in any groove? The part that’s getting extra chilling is that the responses from the original poster seem like they could be a bot. I guess it’s possible that a bot is responding, but if you hypothesize that the bot is the ACTUAL original poster, this becomes a twilight zone. Who is the prime mover for creating this content? I’ve been a professional musician For nearly 50 years. This is a strange new world. I’ve survived drum machines, I’ve survived synthesizers and sequencers. Only two days ago, I was playing a 9 foot Steinway concert grand in a beautiful venue that has played host to Tony Bennett, and many others. How soon before I am merely another spectator?
I’ve spent my life studying practicing and performing guitar music. Years of listening to Gypsy Jazz and my attempts to copy various numbers tells me this is fake. #1 No dynamics with right hand technique #2 Guitars are WAY too clean. Real swing is full of snaps and pops. #3 Tempo has absolutely no pulse or rhythm variation.
