Yeah, that's one of the most dangerous fights in the run, and it went really badly there, with all the misses at the beginning. I was lucky to have survived it. The longer it takes, the lower the chances of survival, especially when key attacks are missing. The difference about this fight and the final boss is a matter of improvisation. Final boss is pretty linear, easy to practice. Basically can go two ways, one is really good for me (happened in the run), one is really really bad and almost guaranteed to stop the run. Chances of the second scenario happening around 15%-20% I think, glad I had not to deal with it. Scenario one still had a chance of failure, but really small. The paladin is way more random in his attack patterns, so reacting to his actions is a bit frantic, and requires a strange mix of caution (trying to mitigate damage away from the summons, but not too much so he does not target the rogue) and recklessness (as the window to kill him is pretty small, with summons dying, people wandering in, him healing or sheer dps when focusing on the rogue). Think he killed me around 35% of the time. That's about on par with the difficulty of traversing the dungeons after jumping into the hole at the end, which was probably the part of the run I was most nervous about. So, the odds of unavoidably dying were approximately 35% Paladin, 35% Dungeons leading up to final boss, 30% Maerwald, 25% Last Boss. Everything else was "just" a matter of execution. :)
Is it possible to get 100% of the trophies in 2023? There is a trophy that is from kickstarter and i came form PC last year, does that mean i can't have 100% ?
Just 2 hours ago my TCS wizard (in fokin sanguin plate) died in act 3 fnd 11 lvl top geared from fokin lion in galawain quest (FOKIN SANGUIN PLATE!!!!!) thx for the video. dont want to start all this again
Sorry to hear that, even tho it's 7 months and 2 hours ago now, I need to check my notifications more often I think... Hope the fokin lion at least chocked on the fokin sanguine plate. ;) Wizard was a top contender with rogue for my run.
What is the version of the game without add-ons? And then I play a more recent version and the balance does not match your video in terms of gaining experience, the duration of skills, the same 3 ghosts of which you can summon live much shorter than in the video. Yes, and I can not find the skill "Combusting Wounds" from the adventurer . . This is a google translation as I'm from another country)
As of now Perception gives Accuracy. How would you change your Build around now? I try to beat the Game on a TCS run with your build but havent succeeded so far. Im temped to go low int, or some lower str since I think that the real dmg comes from deathblows.
+dangdung1337 I'm a bit out of the loop at the moment, so I don't know how good my advice is. If Perception now gives Accuarcy, I would go for 18 Perception and 3 Resolve. This might make it necessary to solve some of the quests differently. Most notably, the "Poison the Tribe Leader" quest needs Resolve 20 to finish it the way I do (you get attacked if resolve is lower). Deathblows is just a damage multiplier, so lowering STR will lower your damage output quite substantially, and lowering INT will decrease the timeframe in which deathblows can be triggered. That's why I would advice against lowering those stats. As a side note, I'm not using Deathblows in this run, as my final level is 10 and Deathblows gets unlocked at 11. :)
hey i just finished the game , and i was wondering is potd epert mode , no triple crown archivement able too beat solo wizard? or is thaos fight too damn hard?
+Chronosphere Steen Every class should be able to get the Triple Crown Solo archievement, they mostly differ at which character level it's possible to advance through certain parts of the game and / or beat Thaos. Wizard is a very good choice. At least it was, when I was doing that run.
At Maerwald, why don't you run around into the next room, past the armed soldiers and press the button to open the hidden door? This causes the armed soldiers to attack Maerwald and you can invis and hide until it all blows over, then loot and bolt.
ShadedgreySA True, I could also get the spiders to help, but killing him on my own is just a bit more satisfying for me. :) The soldiers don't really have anything of value to loot, either. Generally the fight goes a bit better than here, so getting help won't shave off that much time. It's a good tip tho. You don't need invis, just guide them close to him and run for the door. Sneak 7 is sufficient to pass them by, Sneak 5 initiates combat but you can still trigger the floor tile.
Ah ok. Was more thinking along the lines of keep your total kills low. Did a run (not speed) while keeping my total kills under 20. I think I got to the end with 8 kills, but couldn't kill the boss. The fact that mobs has to walk up to you before moving back to their start location really messes things up. Will maybe give it a shot again in the future. Got a lot of tips from watching your vids. Pro plays.
I think my first casual full story playthrough was around 100h. Then I thoroughly re-explored every map, that took around 60h. After that I was optimizing / practicing certain key aspects of the run, for another 60h, including my 6 part TCS run. A few failed speedrun attempts + this run for another 15h. So approximately 235h I would say. :)
I don't have hands-on experience with all classes for TCS runs but I saw some pretty sick wizard videos. But in terms of combat also barbarian and fighter.
evilmiera Gloves of Manipulation from the chest in Lady Readric's room (23:05), lootable on Day 2 of the Month. There is more information about Loot Table Manipulation in the video description. You also need the Boots of Stealth (Day 20 of the Month, 17:32). The first 40-50 minutes of the run are heavily optimized to reliably get many useful items.
+Byanca \o Hello, there are three reasons why the run will not work as demonstrated, with the newest versions. 1) The stealth mechanics got changed, it should be harder now to stay undetected. 2) The loot tables are different now, so the techniques demonstrated in the video/description will not result in the same items. 3) There are a few balancing changes that might make it harder, but I'm not certain of that, as I only know of the expansion content from other people. Didn't get around to play it myself yet, got a bit burned out preparing/doing those runs. I will probably come back to it once all expansions are out and the patches are kind of "final".
+Byanca \o Heya, I could not resist to try Sebastian run (because rogue is so awesome!!) and I made a few modifications so you can still run it under patch 2.03. I'll release the video in a few days. Btw Sebastian, that's a real great run :-)
Nicely played, to bad this build is not possile anymore since perseption now gives acc, stelth been somewhat nerfed and what not, some items from certain boxes have been changed etc
+Andizlack The problem is that I didn't even get around to playing the new expansion yet. And what you see in the video, has about 20x as much time in preperation and practice. I'm not certain I can invest that, until I am certain that Pillars won't change again through another expansion or balancing patches. It might happen once it's clear that Pillars is kind of "final".
+EvilNecroid But if you push for more health, you lose, say, damage output/sustainability. Now you have more durability, but you do not kill as quickly, meaning you get hit more often in the time it takes for enemies to die. In the best case scenario, it's a 1:1 trade and does not matter. In my experience, damage output is superior to more health. But the expansion might have changed things up, I didn't get around to playing it yet.
MsNoodles29 It's funny that you ask, I've just realized 5 minutes ago that I got the Relative Pacifism achievement for the run. So yes, it's below 175. :) I will add the information in the description.
Was really nerve wrecking, I think I did almost 100 practice battles against him so I knew everything that could go wrong without any way for me to influence it. :)
Yeah I can imagine. You normally see that kind of AI manipulation & RNG with extreme save scumming :) Kudos to you doing it legit. Was laughing a bit with all that stun-locking :)
what the fuck,i tried to play trial of iron on path of damned and i died in second zone on fucking bears in fucking cave, after playing it like for 15 fucking minutes ,.fuck this
This doesn't count. You loaded a save. If loading saves counts, you could have just loaded one at the last boss and been done. Good attempt though. Better without reloading.
Record yourself doing that, and finishing the game in a single segment. (Don't forget to include the part where you load the save though, so we can see how long it took you.)
+MaynardKeenanX No need to apologize, but let me assure you that all you see here, has in fact been, a consensual experience between me and the game. The game is deeply aware of my appreciation, demonstrated by 120+ hours of thorough enjoyment, in my first playthrough.
+MaynardKeenanX Sorry but I gotta downvote your comment. You should be aware that this kind of achievement requires an extensive knowledge of the game, both in terms of mechanics and story. This is obviously not a first run and I'm fairly certain Allanon played this game the way it was supposed to be beforehand.
+Orion I value time, as well as new experiences. After finishing the game (~100h) for the first time and exploring everything it had to offer, just repeating that particular experience with another character, seemed a "waste of time". So I set another goal.
Why no perception?
Wasn't useful back then. Got changed later.
Gotcha
One of the greatest runs I have ever seen. GJ!
kind of ironic that you're a stealthy rogue and your face literally glows in the dark.
O_O this is amazing
in at 80h and only now got to the end boss ;D
1:17:17 that was a close one, i like how you were spamming your potion like "OH SHIT im dying" while you barely broke a sweat for the final boss
Yeah, that's one of the most dangerous fights in the run, and it went really badly there, with all the misses at the beginning. I was lucky to have survived it. The longer it takes, the lower the chances of survival, especially when key attacks are missing.

this is self abuse
+Renny Ren Self abuse can be fun, not taken to the extreme, and with success as its reward. :)
You have to be a genius to come up with something like this. Well done
Nice build.. a little narration of what is going on would've been nice though.
+Arthur Kay Ty. I agree, if I ever find a good "format" for future videos, voice commentary will definately be included.
Narration? Ain't nobody got time for that!
Bro, you got insane skills! Massive 🧠
Hope you're taking the challenge man
Makes you realize how much time is wasted loading in this game
You are very skilled
Você é o cara! parabens!
Wow! Amazing! True hardcore!
During the character creation interface at the very beginning, your rhythmic clicks coalesce into a charming piece of percussion music! :D
Not quite in rhythm tho, and the high bpm attribute solo is way sloppy, need to practice more I guess. :)
Have you considered submitting this for a run in GDQ or rpglimitbreak? This is an awesome game and a great run
Hi do u can play with monk or cipher? solo or team dont matter i just want do see they, thanks
i have no other words than : wow!
What kind of key combination did u press to quickly hide items into your storage?
Shift + left click on items to transfer them to storage. Double left click to equip.
Moon godlike masterrace
Personally I find fire godlike to be more powerful but then again, who am I to argue with a guy that solos the game in two hours on POTD :-)
Is it possible to get 100% of the trophies in 2023? There is a trophy that is from kickstarter and i came form PC last year, does that mean i can't have 100% ?
How people can come up with the method for these runs is insane. What's your iq??
you're a beast!
Just 2 hours ago my TCS wizard (in fokin sanguin plate) died in act 3 fnd 11 lvl top geared from fokin lion in galawain quest (FOKIN SANGUIN PLATE!!!!!) thx for the video. dont want to start all this again

How many kills did you have at the end? I know you had less than 175, but do you have an exact number?
Fircasice Total Enemies Defeated: 88 (50 with the Rogue, 38 with Minions)
Sebastian Orth Ah, thanks for the insightful answer! :)
An even more amazing accomplishment. Even though this makes me want to go out and do it myself just for the achievement :(

yeah i saw later on youtube everyone with solo can do it with each class.. its just u gotta use summons alot too tank LOL "solo"

Crikey! How are you so accurate with such low Per?
Why not take backstab?
How many hours have you played this game to be this good?
I think my first casual full story playthrough was around 100h.

In terms of combat - not speed running proficiency.
You obviously got a solid grasp on this game :)
I don't have hands-on experience with all classes for TCS runs but I saw some pretty sick wizard videos. But in terms of combat also barbarian and fighter.
For solo? Paladin or druid
nice tactics!
Loot tables changed I guess.
this makes me feel inadequate
Are you wearing some kind of mechanics enhancing stuff at the start there? I must've missed a bit :(
evilmiera Gloves of Manipulation from the chest in Lady Readric's room (23:05), lootable on Day 2 of the Month. There is more information about Loot Table Manipulation in the video description. Sebastian Orth Aww crap. I was trying to emulate the run, guess I'll be having some issues then :(
Oh wow!
................ SURELY not....
Hello!! Why this run don't work in newest version? Ps. Your run is amazing!
+Byanca \o Hello, there are three reasons why the run will not work as demonstrated, with the newest versions.

just admit you guys are jelly, awesome work, great game
Nicely played, to bad this build is not possile anymore since perseption now gives acc, stelth been somewhat nerfed and what not, some items from certain boxes have been changed etc
+Andreas Edvinsson Yeah, too many things have changed with the recent patches and expansion.
+Sebastian “Allanon” Orth Any chance on an updated build / video? :) I came from your post on obsidian.net
+Andizlack The problem is that I didn't even get around to playing the new expansion yet. And what you see in the video, has about 20x as much time in preperation and practice. I see. Thanks for the reply and the awesome video Sebastian Orth , even if it is outdated build-wise now :)
im confused about character creation
+EvilNecroid about what?
the stats. i mean with those stats wouldnt u have hardly any health and die easy?
+EvilNecroid But if you push for more health, you lose, say, damage output/sustainability. very well done
That Thaos fight :D

This needs a lots of new tweaks as of 2x as the stealth and other mechanics have been nerfed in terms of requiring more points to be invested.
Sebastian Orth -> aus Ger?
+Primordan Einer davon, ja. :P
+Sebastian „Allanon“ Orth
Weißt du wer ich bin? :-)
+Primordan Ich glaube nicht, sollte ich?

+Primordan Das ist unwahrscheinlich, vor ca. 18 Jahren wo ich das letztemal Geschichtsunterricht hatte. :)
what the fuck,i tried to play trial of iron on path of damned and i died in second zone on fucking bears in fucking cave, after playing it like for 15 fucking minutes ,.fuck this
How many people have this achievment ? like 2? :D
Am I the second one ? I got The ultimate too ;-)
wow

cheater
why bother, not enjoying the game, and just rushing through it.
Do you know what speed runs are?
a waste of time IMHO
+Orion I value time, as well as new experiences. After finishing the game (~100h) for the first time and exploring everything it had to offer, just repeating that particular experience with another character, seemed a "waste of time". So I set another goal.
+Sebastian “Allanon” Orth That and also its the whole point of speedrunning
+Orion The irony of commenting on youtube starting with "why bother" and then "wast of time".
Sebastian, magst du dich kurz per Mail bei mir melden? Vielen Dank! :)
