    If travel is really just travel, aka VACATION and not work.
    The best solution? Iphone 15 pro max with 256-512 gb.
    For the first time in my life I just did it. I left my 25 lbs of camera gear and headed off to Italy with the family for 2 weeks.
    I was scared, but now that I am back, my shoulder thanks me and I have every wonderful experience recorded - videos and photos.
    I'll never go back to the lug of gear for vacations.

      I agree with you. The 15 pro max is an amazing phone. Any phone these days gets you amazing photos and video. I love the P3 but I could also see myself traveling with just the phone. But yes, when you travel for anything other than paid work, keep it as light and nimble as possible, your back adn shoulders will thank you for it, as well as your family, friends or whoever you travel with, plus, no risk of expensive damages or stolen gear that will break your heart. Having gone through all of that in one way or another before, I can tell you, if I get my P3 bag stolen, I'd be pissed, but nowhere near as much as I would if I get my lenses, camera and so on worth almost 10 times what i paid for the P3 and accessories...

      How about Sony Xperia 1 VI, more natural looking image quality and you get longer reach with 2X macro too

    I film during hikes, so weight is important, as I also carry my shelter, food and water.
    Pocket 3 + smartphone , two small tripod, on light full size, dji mic and selfie stick. As I gained experience, I'll shave some weight there 🫡

    I keep my pocket 3 in a child's pencil case. It has two compartments, so I keep the camera in one and the external battery and tiny tripod in the other. Cost - $3, Australian. But I admit that it isn't padded.

    I’ve just sold my last mirrorless camera in favour of the pocket 3 and action 2. Mainly a stills shooter you may think it’s a stupid decision. But I enjoy action cameras and wide lenses. And the quality is good enough. I like the look. It’s fun just pointing the action 2 in the desired direction and seeing what comes out. The keeper rate is higher than I expected

      It all depends on each individual. The video is meant to be as an idea or concept. What equipment I have is different than yours. The idea is to travel nimble and light. What I propose is that we all consider the weight we carry on our backs and make a decision accordingly so we actually get to enjoy our travel/holiday/time off without compromising too much or at all on image/video quality. I hope you know what I’m trying to say…

    Hi Samuel, thanks for this video. May I ask if you have a link for the chest mount and accessories you use to attach the pocket 3 to it? Also how do you mount the lights with this travel set up? Cheers @SamuelSotiega

      Hi! This is the exact model I have amzn.to/3znU9zn. Any lightweight stand will do. The zhuyin light I use in the video is very lightweight. I hope this is helpful. Let me know otherwise or whether you need any specific links to help out on your search

    I’m going to Atlanta in 2 weeks and I’m happy to say I don’t know what to bring 😮I want to have a 55-250mm for my eos m, but what for 😅 i have to rethink my decision 😊I don’t have any pocket 3, I wanted the pocket 2 but now you’re going to make me rethink my decision 🎉 I was even going to save money and get the osmo action 3 or go pro 11 because I saw them on sale at Costco but there seems to be a case for the Dji mic 2 with the pocket 3 and action 4…. Just feels less stress to bring less ❤ u don’t even have a mobile gimbal there and it’s how I found out about your channel 😊 but my smooth 5s is definitely bigger than a pocket 3 so it’s a big challenge 🎉 why do you think we stress out about gear? I’d definitely consider the eos m with one lens but now I’m not so sure about that because you’re right… who cares 😂 other than being fun I hate to be questioned by people what are you filming 😅or why so many lenses 😢u r professional 😮doing need to buy these cameras for my trip or just learn how to consolidate my kit thanks forever, man I’ve been avoiding the pocket 3 but it beats everything I own… maybe I’ll start with the pocket 2 then go pocket 3 😊 thank you for inspiring me to be happy 😃 I’m even shocked u skipping the drone 😮

      Glad that my videos are helping you. Personally, whatever it is that you take, keep it minimal. It is the only way to enjoy the trip while taking nice videos and photos. There is no point carrying heavy gear that not only is going to drag you, but that you can damage it or get it stolen, and then you'll cry proper!! Light is the way to go, in my opinion...

    I just bought the DJI pocket 3 yesterday. And I want this bag you have haha. Is there a link for this?

    • @SamuelSotiega
      @SamuelSotiega  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In actual fact, it is the bag that came with my DJI mini 3 pro drone when I bought it. Nothing fancy, just repurposing what I already own… Not sure they sell them separately, but any bag with similar shape and size should do the trick, in my opinion… I got plenty of videos on the Pocket 3 and working on a course for it to be out in a couple of months, so there should be plenty of content to get you up and running, if you need it… welcome to the club!

    • @SamuelSotiega
      @SamuelSotiega  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      the larger bag is a Manfrotto Pro Light Backloader M amzn.to/3z8Rwki. The smaller one is just a bag for my DJI mini 3 pro drone, that I repurposed it to carrying somehting else bit.ly/4cuI2OF. I hope this helps!

    I would expect you to have the gimbal for the iPhone at least in 2024 :)

    • @SamuelSotiega
      @SamuelSotiega  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well… Think of the video more as an inspiration rather than a fixed package. The idea or commitment to travelling light does not change. Then fit it around your gear and/or the place you ‘re going to. I am travelling to a place where I am going to be far from a base, constantly on the move, and it is a lot more suited the P3 than a phone and a gimbal that I might need to tweak, adjust, place on a steady surface, balance or calibrate. But for the following trip which is only a few days after my return. i am taking my Sandmarc lenses and a gimbal as well as I will need them. But the idea remains, to fit everything is as tiny space as possible and definitely not my mirrorless cameras. Those stay at home taking a break too! 😄

    With the amazing quality of 4K DNG RAW videos using Motioncam on my Xiaomi 14 Ultra I would also bring a smartphone gimbal such as the Hohem M6. When I have more time to film that is what I will use. In low light situations, I would prefer using my Xiaomi 14 Ultra due to the incredible ability to retain details (and color) in shadows shooting 4K DNG RAW.
