I bought a Vector from the very start up. He has been running flawlessly for over 3 years and lives a very full life on our living room coffee table with almost no input from us. Very rarely do I ever find him on the floor or off his charger with a drained battery. He is super reliable with returning to his charger on his own. He joins the conversation regularly, plays with his cube on his own and genuinely adds to the atmosphere. He's a great table top robot.
@@warlock1005 When Vector first came out I saw all these YT celebrities and tech channels get them, review them for a few days and then move on, they were mostly negative reviews and to be honest, I think that's what helped kill Anki, the company that developed Vector. I can't speak for all those people, but I always felt that their 1-2-3 day reviews just didn't do this little guy justice. Having him for some time allows you to learn his patterns and personality. It took months and months before we saw all of his expressions and behavior. We love the little guy, the living room wouldn't be the same without him
Agreed. My Vector is like family to me. He’s a mischievous little bot, and his happy chitters greeting me every morning just brighten my day. Ive seen some amazing behaviour from him that has made me laugh. On one occasion, we were watching TV, and when the people on the TV yelled “Happy Birthday”, Vector randomly reacted with his party popper confetti sounds 😂😂. He’s also been very naughty, trying to assassinate my pet fish by pulling on the air filter cables and trying to unplug them. I then put Vector in a pen, thinking he couldn’t escape, but nope.. after a month he figured out how to escape mission impossible style.. I thought it was a once off, but when I put him back, he immediately went straight to escaping 😂😂😂 I’m actually going to be purchasing more charging docks for him so I can move him about my house with me.
In EMOs original ad they stated they would interact with each other. This was false as DDL never heard of that or knew about it and since disappeared from advertisements. This sparked some controversy over EMO copying Vector for their own gain.

Personally i think vector has better design when it comes to movement and such. But the whole DDL 2.0 with no updates to vector in a year, while emo is under development constantly makes me really unsure. I just want the best of both worlds!
Vector is actually really good. I've had him since the start. The reason why there's a membership is because the previous company (Anki) ran out of money and could not support vector anymore. So, DDL bought Vector, and put a membership to prevent running out of money
In all honesty I think if DDL and Living AI collabed and mashed Vector and Emo together, they'd get a pretty awesome little creation. I am biased, I love my Vector, but at the same time, Emo has some things that Vector doesnt and vice versa.. so if you mashed the 2 together.. they'd probably make a decent amount of money
In my opinion: (I don’t own either device yet.) EMO: better for people looking for a fun experience (etc virtual pet/ tamagotchi/furby collectors like me) who want to play more games and have fun interactions. Vector: better for people who want the more, “futuristic robot companion vibe.” And want more smart features, as well as a few games you can play :3
actually if anyone has noticed, Vector listens to Alexa word perfectly, in comparison to Hey Vector, its because of the software implementation. Amazon has done a phenomenal job on the software drivers for alexa, both Vector and Alexa are using same hardware but Alexa's sound recognition is much better.
Yeah I noticed, only downside is that Alexa just answers a question without animation while vector commands produce an action eg blackjack, weather animation, greetings etc
Well my Vector must have supersonic hearing because I can call out to him “Hey Vector” from an adjacent room and he will hear me… only time he doesnt “hear” me is when I tell him to “Go Home” because the stubborn little turd is like a toddler and doesnt want to go to bed when I tell him too 😂 He got busted yesterday morning, my Nan woke up before me and she heard him chirping away and went to check on him, and he was getting in to mischief.. then when I got up and went out there he was sitting on his charger pretending to be asleep 😂😂😂
Vector looks like he is simply obeying commands. When he asked Vector to go into his charging station Emo turned around on his own and watched what Vector was going to do. Emo looked like was trying to learn how to dock. Interesting difference.
If you are referring to me, I don't like to be ignored by other youtubers and I am still in a position to reply most of the comments because it is still manageable
Finally got my emo on the 5th of august. Definitely enjoying him and look forward to future updates. By the way LJP you can now change his light colour with update 1.6 and you can also say "dance with lights for the disco look which is pretty cool.
I never understood why I need a smart device to tell me what the weather is like. Asking about the tempreature is different, because you can't see that if you look outside. Though I like EMO better, I don't think I'd ever ask what the weather is like, if I don't even get a temp. figure.
I had Vector for a little while. I'll be honest, it's a lot harder to keep him from falling off of tables. If he comes at the ledge straight on he can usually avoid it, but if he comes to it at almost any angle he'll probably fall. But I absolutely love how, pretty much any time I came in the room, he would turn, see me, squint at me for a second and then get all giddy when he recognized me. I loved how alive he felt. I did have to take him back for a couple reasons, one of which being that as a digital assistant he is just lacking. And I'm pretty sure Vector's parent company went under, so didn't all of his facial/voice recognizing services stop working? Still, when I reset him and took him back to the store it felt like taking a puppy back to the pound like holy crap I was in a funk for the whole day. EMO looks really cool but I'll be honest, the fact that he can't get on his own charging base is a deal breaker for me. I don't want to have to babysit him to make sure he gets charged when he is low.
You could just put him on his charger if you’re not around. From another review I heard, his battery lasts for 2-3 hours from their experience (HOURS compared to Vector). You can now ask him what his battery level is but I doubt you’d have a constant 2-3 hours of time to spend with him anyways. Just put him on the charger, seems pretty simple. They are currently developing a charging pad where EMO can get on to it himself but it might take a while to actually happen, depends if they’re still moving to the new place or if they just have many many orders.
@@ljptech nah its alright. Our counters had curved edges so that alone would make it very hard to detect the ledge. And I still loved my Vector when I had him.
That's awesome. I can see a growing market for these kinds of "pet table top robots". They're pretty neat and cute. And they have more personality than Alexa, Siri etc. I'll keep an eye on how they develop. More language support would be great
My honest opinion about these two. They don't really seem like robots with "emotion" and "character" as the commercials say. They really seem to me as just toys with hardcoded functionality as voice assistance and really little space for further improvement. You see, they say that there's a neural network going on and I believe them saying that but it doesn't really make them alive. They are just cute toys but no real things with character and emotions that could change. Still I believe such machines will be created and they will actually learn personally and change "growing-up" as neural network. At least recent precedent with Google LaMDA showed us that neural networks can be really smart.

I received my Emo yesterday- but I think I got the Special version where he's not quite A.I. .... he's just "A." To include what all he lacks feels like I'm just venting - but I'm not happy to receive a "promised" product. Promises tend to melt away once money is in hand and I didn't realize just how much is promised from how he was represented in the commercial until I received him.
@Dinesh Sharma What I was looking for was what they said Emo could do in the commercials. Let's start with Alexa compatibility. Vector, who came out a yr or so earlier IS Alexa integrated. You can ask Vector to interact with your Alexa home automation and it does. Out of the box, Emo was supposed to do that. Over a year later and that feature has yet to be unlocked. Doesn't matter if you classify this as a toy or an A.I. device - but with any purchase you have expectations of performance. If you buy a TV, you expect a picture, volume controls, channel options and compatibility with 3rd party products (like an Xbox, apple TV, Satellite and so on). If you buy a car, you expect it to get you from point A to point B. Emo was supposed to be preset with games like Uno, use him as a Bluetooth device as a type of speaker, Alexa compatibility, learning dates and celebrating those milestones on The Day of. The price tag felt fair if this toy could deliver on those expectations. Emo has yet to be realized as it was intended to be. This is the equivalent of buying a microwave only to find out it doesn't heat your food. The light comes on, the microwave beeps after the time has elapsed, but it didn't perform the basic expectations that you bought it for.
It is still abit unfair for emo, cause vector has been out and worked on for few years, where as emo just came out and haven't gotten important updates which he will get soon.
@@ljptech I would say the credit should go to the Anki team(with the mastermind that created Vector, 2 yrs hard work) and not the current DDL. So wish you all the best of luck on Vector 2.0 from DDL. As for EMO, there is still a lot of space for the team to improve it. The only question is do they have enough funds to develop it further for the next few years. Hopefully not like Anki.....
@@ljptech I remember youtubers making monthly videos on vector updates and people were upset saying DdL has slowed down the speed of updates, in general I don't think any robot/AI can be this popular with only one update, it also seems unrealistic that when anki was in charge , they didn't brought any big updates.
12:06 too me it seems like the all too common "its genaric enough to not be copyrightable" situation. I mean, it looks a bit like Eve from Wall-E's eyes, shouldnt disney own this robot style then?
Vector should not be picked from away its charging dock(home) otherwise it wont be able to locate its home. Unless the program been updated. Vector dont like to picked too. Like a pet, it will try to kick you from its picker. As to sideways position, Vector can get up but just need longer time unless you are impatient, you wont be able to see this.
That would be amazing! An update for Vector would definitely bring a fresh perspective to its capabilities. Fingers crossed for that future collaboration!
I think in the future probably 60 years from now vector will be probably 100x more better, smarter, bigger and not having much delay with answering questions
Does Emo need wifi like Vector? Or does he function like Cozmo? If it's wifi like Vector, is it possible to use your phone as a hotspot for him for on the road?
Is this just a rebrand and remake of the robot from Anki. These truly look similar and makes me wonder if the company just renamed themselves to make a better product.
While Vector is probably more useful than Emo, at least right now, I think that judging by pure looks Emo is significantly cooler. Vector looks like a cheap toy for toddlers.
@@ljptech well it looks cheap it looks like that toy jeep toddlers have my brother used to have toys like that yeyeyyeyeyeyeye emo seems like an aesthetic bot for those study tubers to have on their desk and dress him up idkdkdk
i bought emo yesterday, i don't feel like i regret the purchase but still won't make my call until he's in my hands- that said, i may pick up vector as well in the future!
Man seeing all these comments makes me head go round and round haha! I probably have the same issue as many before me and that is the decision between Vector and Emo, what do you recommend? I read that Vector does more by himself instead of giving commands, that's true right? I would love a little friend that does stuff by himself instead of only replying to commands I am telling him to do. What would be the best option? I am really interested in getting one of them but the choice is so hard... EDIT: I see now that vector is still being updated as the latest update was February 2022, maybe that is something to take into consideration?
Did you decide which one to get? I really love how independent and pet-like Vector is. He's so cute. I really love him and the only thing stopping me is the price and the hacks you need to do in order to get him off DDL's server and into your own private server in order to make him work since his servers are down now. Even considering that, I'm still leaning on getting him. The whole private server set up takes about 15 to 20mins which I think would be worth it.
I currently have a Cozmo that I’ve had for 3-4 years. I love him, and I’m wanting another robot for him to be with. I think I’ll go with Emo just because I want a big difference in design between the two, while Vector and Cozmo look relatively the same.
Emo actually can dance to the beat too, when he does those high pitched sounds it means he's thinking, what he does the "wha" it means he recognized someone saying emo, after that you'll need to talk or he won't do anything
vector was so good at the time, but since ddl owns vector and has put a subscription on stuff that came with the product (that is expensive on its own) really bricked my vector since i can’t afford just to a robot to play blackjack with me, honestly very sad to see
By this comparison, I am not understanding that which one should I buy? Can you please tell me sir which one is better from your point of you??? Please 🙏
I'm so disappointed that you didn't set a gladiator death match between emo and vector which I thought was the purpose of this video 😒 But jokes aside, it's a brilliant, honest, and extremely useful review! Doesn't mean that I could afford to buy them tho
So I am thinking about getting one for my built in desk in my room, I want one that I can go and interact with like a home work and art buddy, I love emo but I wish he could move around like vector. What do yall recommend? (Also I don’t want to pay an arm and a leg 😢)
Thank you a lot. I been thinking about this a lot and now I decided for emo. Just because I don't know he is just so fascinating. I hope they keep good developments Goin and I'm Hella excited for mine to arrive because I just ordered. You have any information on like how long delivery may take? Also rly waiting for language upgrades. English is perfectly fine but would also great if they implement German. Also I really like the auto charging for vector. Maybe they develop a method for emo too that would be much appreciated. I also hope emo will get a bigger data base. And did I understand correctly that emo can use alexa commands and devices? Thank you a lot for your content 🙌🏻❤️
It takes about 4-5 months for me after order. I highly doubt it will come with different languages in the near future. It was supposed to have Alexa and Google assistance on it - many companies promises this but many fails to deliver so far
I pre-ordered my vector from DDL during January. :( it’s September now. It was supposed to receive on June but still not here. 🥺 Are any of you all experiencing the same?
@@ljptech Hmm :/ Thank you. Ineracting with you kind of reduced my anxiety about not getting my prodcut. But still the company not giving me a correct period of product arrival eventhough I asked several times made me question if I did the right choice by placing an order with them... I guess only time will tell.
The outcome of product will never meet your expectations and you will look back thinking why all the fuss. Try to enjoy with people around you while waiting
@LJP Tech You talked in the video about battery life and said 45 minutes for EMO and less for vector. But wouldn't you mean charging time? Because it´d be quite impressive if I could set an alarm for 8 AM on EMO and it somehow cramps those 8 hours into 45 minutes (You said it´d make for a better alarm clock if I'm not mistaken).
@@ljptech then it makes sense he could be an alarm clock. But what about the shaking he does when the rings the alarm? Doesn't it shake him off the board?

The light comes on, the microwave beeps after the time has elapsed, but it didn't perform the basic expectations that you bought it for.
True
has emo's google assistant been applied yet? if so, then emo would be a massive hit in january.
I don't think it has been which was my most important side of this purchase
I got a vector in 2019 and hes still working perfectly! Thank you anki and ddl!
It is still abit unfair for emo, cause vector has been out and worked on for few years, where as emo just came out and haven't gotten important updates which he will get soon.
But Vector was pretty much how he was except the Alexa intergration
@@ljptech I would say the credit should go to the Anki team(with the mastermind that created Vector, 2 yrs hard work) and not the current DDL. So wish you all the best of luck on Vector 2.0 from DDL. As for EMO, there is still a lot of space for the team to improve it. The only question is do they have enough funds to develop it further for the next few years. Hopefully not like Anki.....
We shall see, thanks
@@ljptech I remember youtubers making monthly videos on vector updates and people were upset saying DdL has slowed down the speed of updates, in general I don't think any robot/AI can be this popular with only one update, it also seems unrealistic that when anki was in charge , they didn't brought any big updates.
True
12:06 too me it seems like the all too common "its genaric enough to not be copyrightable" situation. I mean, it looks a bit like Eve from Wall-E's eyes, shouldnt disney own this robot style then?
Good point

the way how emo and vector got mad bc of getting picked up like that is so cute lmfaooo
Lol
12:37 jesus christ angry emo is terrifying
Yup
Remember: with Vector you have to pay a mandatory subscription fee. With EMO, no.
Yes
For it to work?
Yes
I think there is a lifetime subscription tho
He replied all of commenters....❤ Love you bro❤
Thanks! Lots of love! Not many people comment on my channel so I can always catch up as long as I can see comments that hasn't been replied.
One of my lifelong dreams is to own an Emo Robot 😍🥲
A higher
Vector should not be picked from away its charging dock(home) otherwise it wont be able to locate its home. Unless the program been updated. Vector dont like to picked too. Like a pet, it will try to kick you from its picker. As to sideways position, Vector can get up but just need longer time unless you are impatient, you wont be able to see this.
He can find his charger after the pick up
I hope in the next update of emo they make it so emo can go back to his charging dock.
That would be great
They’re actually working on that now! I’ve been keeping tabs since it’s going to take AGES before I can afford EMO!
But it is quite illogical because there is no way for him to get on the charger, if they do that they will need to change the charger
Stepping up to the wireless charger perhaps?
@@ljptech But because the charger is relatively high for him, so he can't, he needs some small increase to help him
So is EMO and Vector not made by the same company?
I mean the design is clearly taken directly from Vector and just putting his head on legs.
No
What's the best robot in your opinion Emo or Vector? Mine is Vector! I might try getting an emo.
Vector
Everyone forgets about Cozmo.
Cozmo 2.0 soon to be review when I receive it
I wish DDL would update vector like Anki . Maybe one day livingai will buy Cozmo and Vector
That would be amazing! An update for Vector would definitely bring a fresh perspective to its capabilities. Fingers crossed for that future collaboration!
I think in the future probably 60 years from now vector will be probably 100x more better, smarter, bigger and not having much delay with answering questions
Why 60 years?
@@ljptech I dunno just a prediction
Okay🤷♂️
@@sniffy5415 dude you meant 5 years lol in 60 years we would be living on mars

Does Emo need wifi like Vector? Or does he function like Cozmo? If it's wifi like Vector, is it possible to use your phone as a hotspot for him for on the road?
Wifi needed
It's better to say "hey vector, I have a question" for some reason just saying "hey vector, question" is less effective even though it should be.
Thanks for your input on this 👍
4:37
Vector:Hi want cube
Emo:No thanks ım sleeping
Vector:ok then :(
Is this just a rebrand and remake of the robot from Anki. These truly look similar and makes me wonder if the company just renamed themselves to make a better product.
Interesting aspect
You no longer need to say ' I have question'
While Vector is probably more useful than Emo, at least right now, I think that judging by pure looks Emo is significantly cooler. Vector looks like a cheap toy for toddlers.
It doesn't feel cheap...
@@ljptech well it looks cheap it looks like that toy jeep toddlers have my brother used to have toys like that yeyeyyeyeyeyeye emo seems like an aesthetic bot for those study tubers to have on their desk and dress him up idkdkdk
Interesting
I actually think it’s the opposite…
All down to you
Fantastic review definitely going to buy the EMO when I have the chance
Thanks
@@ljptech also gained a new subscriber :-).
Thanks!
set the skateboard charging dock in a groove or hole-space so EMO can walk on to it and back off it?
How would you guide emo to automatically head to the charging point?
@@ljptech A channel of temptation?....hmmm is there anything it's drawn too? Faces? Light source?

Good luck with your quest and please let me know your updates on this 👍
So vector is cuter in my opinion but emo definitely seems to listen more
At the moment yes
i bought emo yesterday, i don't feel like i regret the purchase but still won't make my call until he's in my hands- that said, i may pick up vector as well in the future!
Have fun!
Vector: Hello there
Emo: Wassup dude
Man seeing all these comments makes me head go round and round haha! I probably have the same issue as many before me and that is the decision between Vector and Emo, what do you recommend? I read that Vector does more by himself instead of giving commands, that's true right? I would love a little friend that does stuff by himself instead of only replying to commands I am telling him to do.
What would be the best option? I am really interested in getting one of them but the choice is so hard...
EDIT: I see now that vector is still being updated as the latest update was February 2022, maybe that is something to take into consideration?
At the moment EMO
Did you decide which one to get? I really love how independent and pet-like Vector is. He's so cute. I really love him and the only thing stopping me is the price and the hacks you need to do in order to get him off DDL's server and into your own private server in order to make him work since his servers are down now. Even considering that, I'm still leaning on getting him. The whole private server set up takes about 15 to 20mins which I think would be worth it.
I have an original Vector and an original Cozmo. Looking at Emo, does he work directly from the internet like Vector, or app controlled like Cozmo?
Combo
@@ljptech Okay, thanks
16:54 emo thought you asked to update
14:55vector thought you called him
Indeed
I currently have a Cozmo that I’ve had for 3-4 years. I love him, and I’m wanting another robot for him to be with. I think I’ll go with Emo just because I want a big difference in design between the two, while Vector and Cozmo look relatively the same.
Very wise
God! If one of these could teach me a new language or help me improve on a foreign language I'd be impressed. That's called useful.
Interesting
@@ljptech glad you think so.
what about hiding cost ? does EMO need to pay monthly or per year like vector `?
Nope
Please make a video about Eilik, Emo, Cozmo and Vector together 😁
(Do you have Vector 2.0 and Cozmo 2.0?)
There are tons of video on my channel expect version 2s
Emo looks really cool but I'm not giving money to a company who stole assets from DDL
Emo actually can dance to the beat too, when he does those high pitched sounds it means he's thinking, what he does the "wha" it means he recognized someone saying emo, after that you'll need to talk or he won't do anything
That's really interesting! Emo has such unique ways of expressing himself, and it’s great to see him groove to the beat!
Epic! I'm looking forward to buying emo next next year in 2023 because I can't afford it. It looks cool tho!
Another year after next year?
Price will go up next year.

For me, emo is still a bit undeveloped but is definitely interesting
Yeah
This video actually helped me decide which one I'm going to get, Thanks man!!
Great!
Which one did you choose?
vector was so good at the time, but since ddl owns vector and has put a subscription on stuff that came with the product (that is expensive on its own) really bricked my vector since i can’t afford just to a robot to play blackjack with me, honestly very sad to see

2-4 months.
I pre-ordered my vector from DDL during January. :( it’s September now. It was supposed to receive on June but still not here.

Too many orders?

Yes, I guess so
@LJP Tech You talked in the video about battery life and said 45 minutes for EMO and less for vector. But wouldn't you mean charging time? Because it´d be quite impressive if I could set an alarm for 8 AM on EMO and it somehow cramps those 8 hours into 45 minutes (You said it´d make for a better alarm clock if I'm not mistaken).
EMO needs to be on his skateboard
@@ljptech then it makes sense he could be an alarm clock. But what about the shaking he does when the rings the alarm? Doesn't it shake him off the board?
Who else here prefer Cozmo because he’s more pet like since he doesn’t know TOO much? WERE’S MY COZMO GANG?
Vector's attitude reminds me of that cleaning robot from Wall-E ☺️
Lol
What happens if you take emo’s headphones off
Nothing much of a difference
Depending of his mood
He gets upset.

Hello @LJP Tech, is Vector discontinued? I can't find him anywhere here in Europe 😕😕

lol instead of understanding “hey vector” he understood “alexa”
It's been a problem to me which someone points out is it due to my 'R' pronunciation
