Kinda like 20%, people realize that scientists speaking about culture and society is not a very good thing in the end, they are just like everybody else in the midia and they also have an agenda, and we are tired of that, especialy the woke agenda.

An adult scientist is a kid who never grow up. That is the true side of Tyson and every scientist or science student fascinated deeply about the fascinating nature of nature. That was the best speech ever performed by Tyson. I hope it have made a difference.

Dislike from a person that thinks, unlike you fools that follow Neil.
Neil deDumbass Tyson asked about the start of the universe and if he believes in God:
Larry King, "Who started all this; do you believe in God?"
Neil, "The proper question should be who or what started it, but I don't know. If I don't know I'm going to say I don't know."
from the beginning of this video: th-cam.com/video/v-qU4F0lNfU/w-d-xo.html
What we KNOW and have NO doubts about...
Real science says nothing does nothing. Real science says if there was something there already it must fit with the evidence of what we know. We know the 1LT says there's a conservation of energy. It can change forms and neither can be created or destroyed. Creation cannot happen by natural means. The 2LT has various aspects, one being the universe is winding down, entropy. Usable energy is becoming less usable, so at one point usable energy was at its max. This all points to a supernatural creation, by a supernatural creator at a certain point in which matter, space and time were created. When I read how it can happen otherwise, ALL the fools resort to science-fiction. Once a supernatural creation is accepted, then the next step is finding proof of what supernatural power did it.
Neil does not know BASIC science. Not only can't we have creation without God, Neil does not know that we also can't have science without God. The laws of nature can only come from a Lawgiver, God.
Tyson says his crap at about 2:00 in the video below about the eye evolution. It is proven false in the rest of the video. But to dumbasses, to hell with details and what the evidence shows. Your agenda is all that matters.

You are a dumbass because calling someone a name to refute their argument is a cop out. I will watch
the 'evidence of your argument when I have more time + don't have 2 go 2 WORK. Meanwhile, of course he says "...I don't know... "
This is an answer from a scientific point of view, since we have yet to classify any type of transcendence of ration thought as a science. He is still living and is being honest in his public answer.

@@no12578 Laws of nature pertain to nature. When laws of nature show 100% certain things, like creation, can't happen naturally, we have only one choice left, it had to be supernatural. I hope he has a counterpart or perhaps an elon musk character as well that is more on ocean frontier. Space is one thing but our oceans is another. Perhaps someday someone can do something about stopping tsunamis, globe wide cleaning of our oceans, making sea exploration so easy that we can easily detect and rescue crashes that happens in the oceans no matter how far and how deep it may be.

His point about kids is awesome and sad ad the same time. I've seen kids "trained" not to touch anything. Kids that should know why they can't touch certain stuff are being told NO because NO and that's it. No works as a reason and the explaination. Some parents are happy when their child is just sitting quiet, messing with a phone because THEY prefer it. I'm sorry, as a 5 yo I have desintegrated my grandfather's radio cassette player just to see what's inside. He wasn't mad, he was astonished that I could find the tools to do it. Then I've made my first bow, bicycle trailer, little shed which took all of my grandfather's nails. I've made a lot of mistakes, learned from them and carried on. But I have to say that almost none of that would be possible I would have been born in some big city. Currently people are histerical when kids are playing in the sand because it might be dirty. I slept in my dog's house and made tea from straw. This was normal, kids knew to do things with knives and tools but today the same tools got warning stickers on them for adults! Where are we going?
Come to Poland, we'll teach you! Maybe not how to land on the Moon but you know...

"Saturn 5s are the moon rocket and in no way used to propel ICBMs"
a great point. if an SV, launched from earth, were to hit another place on earth, that location would be devastated in a way that ICBM designers could only dream of.

Long speech but every sentence is interesting. Even the improvised answers. Even though the intended audience is nasa people which I am not. With humor even though the message is dead serious. I couldn't stop listening halfway.

I have never ''believed'' in N. de G. Tyson or NASA but this speech does move me. Tyson has grown a lot from being an actor.

One problem I have, still have, is that people travelling through the Van Allen belts is impossible. They will die in microwaves.
Also, the Apollo missions are the most impressive ever, but somehow NASA lost ALL pictures, data and the rest. As mister Pettit from NASA says: "If we could go to the moon again, I would go today!".

I see a lot of this on YT but I don't see Dr Tyson as a politician, and worse...I would NOT want him to be mired in the bureaucratic mess that is the Federal Gov. He is in a far better position to affect change where he is at. :)

By going to more planets we can possibly find more resources. More resources can be used to make more things efficiently and etc. Its all about basic resources. People say there is no stupid question but at the same time think before you speak or comment.

Great talk. One more thing I'd like to add: the 60s-70s were great times for environmentalism not just because of our advancement in space, but partly thanks to the hippie movement - even the Whole Earth Catalog, which NDT mentioned, was created shortly after its creator, Stewart Brand, tripped on LSD. Psychedelic drugs opened our minds to the bigger picture and undoubtedly showed us our place in the the cosmos and our intimate relationship with nature. They certainly did so for me.

The survival of our species depends on the space program. If we stay here long enough, eventually we'll be wiped out by global disaster, pandemic, a big enough meteorite, etc.
Our species future is in the stars. If we want to thrive and survive we need to get out there.

The 60's was big in space programs because of the USSR had the first satellite launched during the cold war era. Not because the politicians in that era were so interested in space or space engineers. Like he said "if China put military bases on Mars , we will be in Mars in 10 months"

  • @twstf8905

    The most profound and effective anecdote I've heard him use to illustrate the reason for a population to demand their nation invest in exploration is;
"Steve Jobs was 13 years old in 1969.
    Bill Gates was 14.
In 1969, America successfully landed humans on the moon.
Despite an ongoing hot war in Southeast Asia, an anti-communism cold war, unprecedented social and political upheaval, (the civil rights movement, assassinations, and Presidential impeachment.) And civic unrest and social revolution.
The impact on the social, economic, and secure future of a Nation investing in exploration was demonstrated unequivocally.
The people leading invention and innovation, solving the world's economic and societal problems today, were DIRECTLY inspired by their experiences then."
If we want to keep maximizing the inspiration of our children, we HAVE to invest in the most inspirational, and audacious collective activities, as a society NOW.
The people making our communication and entertainment devices, cell phones, optimizing the Earth's habitability, and rehabilitating our fossil-fuel dependency, inventing new medicines and treatments, and perfecting our methods of transportation in 20 years, will be the ones inspired by the possibilities we demonstrate we are capable of TODAY!
