More bees Harris, I think you need more bees in your box.

I think you did everything right with grafting.. its after they started them... 45 is a bit too much to be left in to be finish. More bees or take some off and give it to others to finish. I like the more bees option because it's easier for me to work and l don't mind if they lower the number a little bit.
With finishers you will get more for sure than like l do all in one starter - finisher. I just do a couple of batches for me and some friends. And the starter ends in a bunch of broodless nucks with a queen cell and treated immediately

thinking about moving some to nucs at 48 hr. as I get more nucs going and the weather improves I may do it more. mating weather here is still a crap shoot.

@@harrisjoubertwithsleepycre1924 yeah I know.. and drones are finicky about flying out. They want perfect weather or start acting like little.....

You can always put a top or bottom on the entrance of the starter and shake bees on it from any hive. Marching in does something to them and they start working immediately. And the older bees fly home. It's not the same as shaking them in the hive

@@harrisjoubertwithsleepycre1924 The commercial keepers shake them in. You did good.

Why do you see the professional breeders simply shaking them in? Something to consider.

@@MinnesotaBeekeeper because they are in a hurry. I can see how shaking them in front would mean no older bees went inside and caused trouble, they will just fly home. the young bees that cant fly will walk in

Ofcourse he can shake them in.. especially when preparing the starter. I was talking to do it now immediately on that starter.
Than there is the other thing. Am I a professional, with over 50 years of beekeeping.. after my grandfather and father did it before me ? Don't make me laugh. Every beek on YT with 5 years experience is a pro... there's so much stuff people don't know about bees because it's not on YT. You couldn't learn it in a life time
