Rehash: Started like any other GOOD day to find DIRT BOSS posted a new video for us! The day looked beautiful, our 'Main Man', Mike - (The Big Guy) standing tall & proud for us alongside his two pieces of 'good-sized' equipment with one, the KOMATSU D51PX making its debut after purchase and hibernation of a long cold winter. So we watched as Mike, gingerly, gently but in command, worked the excavator (KOBELCO) then Mike jumped on the KOMATSU DOZER for our real first look & sound of this new machine. Watching it for a couple minutes I thought of that old song, "AIN'T NO MOUNTAIN HIGH ENOUGH" - and this beast would level and conquer it. That engine had a sound all its own (mean & bealthy) with its wide tracks that Mike insisted on and all the progress being made. Two great machines & Mike doing all this work and transforming & fine tuning this section of a 2,000 foot driveway. The work was turning out so well I said to myself, "he actually gets paid for all this fun"? How wonderful, this is so great, what could go wrong, I mean we already have the virus hanging overhead, but hey, this is DIRT, Excavation (at its finest) outdoors after a long cold winter, a new piece of equipment - "It Doesn't Get Better Than This" - UNTIL, OMG, Mike's face, this big dude we all know & love so much (Second Generation 'DIRT BOSS') looking troublesome at the END of the viceo - what could be wrong? Then he told us all. LISTEN: I'm not trying to be stupid and I read every comment and I think what I said above speaks for all who know and LOVE this GUY, his family and what he does. No, it's not corny it's concern for one of us. MIKE - a large POTHOLE in the road only until you fix it like ALL the other ones in life. (I can remember when the biggest concern was, "Who Shot JR?") Just when things were going along nicely, and that excellent suggestion about the change to the driveway - then this. Of all the things to fail! I feel for you, brother.
Nice work, my uncle and his father had an excavation company and they let me hang around as early as I can remember as long as I worked or didnt get in the way, lol, so they rewarded me by letting me run dozer when i was 9 or so and stayed right with it the rest of my life until I became crippled from a back injury about 10 years ago so I get my iron fix on TH-cam these days:) Just found your channel and I'll definitely be adding it to my rotation. Always wanted to try a 51 out, have quite a bit of time in the pre slant nose D31, 37 and 39 size Komatsu dozers and though I like a Deere dozer better personally, I enjoyed running the better then the G series Cat's

Serious coin on stone for that driveway! The homeowner better invest in good snow removal equipment! I live not far away from you, every excavating down here was working all year long. Little or no frost. Got lucky in NY this year. We are good for a few feet
That’s a bummer man. But honestly, You know how to pull wrench’s. I would pull the final and take it to someone who rebuilds them and knows the correct procedures. You can save on the labor by removing it yourself which isn’t all that complicated and also be sure you have a properly rebuilt one in the end.
Dirt Boss Masonry & Excavating I’m sure they are capable, but there are lots of places capable and some places that even specialize in finals and can do the job much cheaper than the dealer, and still have a quality job.
She just turned over 4k A Allen bolt backed out from inside and was rubbing in housing..had to be a factory defect unbelievable! I just subbed to you 👍🏼 Thanks
Mike what is the make and model number of the lift axle on the Kenworth T800, I am thinking of putting one on my truck, thanks. What size tires on the lift axle, and how much ground clearance under the lift tires when its up in the air? Ever get the truck hung up because of the lift axle so the truck could not travel?

I don't know, just seems weird that it happens on it's first real job? I know it's gotta be very frustrating, and can make a man angry. Ouch! how many hours on the D51PX? OK; so this is first job you have had the dozer on since you purchased it. Did you drain and replace the fluids in final drives and other compartments and had the oil analysis done for a base line for reference and comparison in future years. I would be pissed big time with the dealer I purchased it from, the dozer must be from a local contractor so the Komatsu dealer should have access to machine history including oil analysis. I feel for you man, $10 grand does not go far for repairs these days with this heavy equipment. Be thankful it is not the engine would be double that $10G or more. Ouch.
@@DIRT-BOSS What you changed the fluid in that final drive, was the fluid that came out new or old/used? Any metal in it? Hard to believe that the final drive went bad in the couple of hours you ran it.
Well, now you know why the last guy got out of it. That sucks. By your face I doubt it came with a warranty. But there should be some goodwill help from Able if the final drive goes out on the first mound of dirt. Do they owe you a full fix? No, not really, but it would be appropriate to maybe split part of the bill. The fact is they are just lucky the problem didn’t become apparent 2 hours of use sooner.
man, that really stinks....$10k plus repair and little revenue coming in. so sorry to hear this. i would take advantage of the time and do it myself to limit the hemorrhaging of money. im sure its a big job but i would be hard pressed to spend any money that isnt absolutely necessary until we start to climb out of this mess. i wish you the best bud.
She'll be back this week! Had to purchase a reman.. 🙄.. a major Allen bolt has been working its way out inside and rubbing on the housing probably for years and leaving shavings then finally took out seals and bearings! Thanks for asking!

Yeah i hear ya its at Anderson Equipment Komatsu dealer. In Latham... I bought the machine in PA so its my bill now! 🙄
