    There is an Indian branch president in Fiji who had been a tobacco-smoking taxi driver. “How did you get baptized?” “When I was a child, I was sick in bed for six weeks. Many nights, an angel came and sat with me, talked with me, comforted me. I kept telling my parents, “The angel came last night.” They said I was dreaming or feverish. Then one night, my brother slept in my bed, and awoke, exclaiming “The angel came last night.” “So when I heard the story of Joseph Smith, and the Angel Moroni in his bedroom, I knew it was true. Of course, an angel came. That happened to me.”

    I love Alma, I seriously can't wait to meet him in heaven and shake his hand. No story in the scriptures has hit me harder nor had a more profound impact on my heart than his. I'm glad he wasn't too embarrassed to tell his story. Just like Alma, we don't forge our bond with Christ from all of our good times, but rather when he cleanses us from our sins. In a weird way it is through our sins, we come to know him. or rather as we work through repentance we come to know Christ.

      While it is true we come to know Christ through repentance, we come to know Him so much more as we are obedient to the commandments and covenants, just as He was obedient to the Father during His earthly life. We can use the atonement of Jesus Christ for so much more than sins.

      @@richardholmes7199 I'd suggest ignoring David Hogg. He's only here to harass the Saints. He claims to believe in the bible, but you can quote verses straight from the Bible to support your beliefs, but if he doesn't agree he simply ignores it. He's been at it for months and doesn't listen to reason.

    I have struggled my entire life to read the Book of Mormon and to understand it and have not been able to. I have prayed for the understanding of this book. I fell away from the church for 40 plus years partially because of that. Now with these videos I am understanding more but still struggle with reading and understanding but these are helping.

      hearttoheart4me it is difficult for me too. What I found out. If you can follow along,I do books on Audio and I read along with it. I stop sometimes to ponder on what I read. I also watch these videos too. For I am forever grateful. The most important thing you can do is ask God. Ask him to help you read and to really understand what you are reading. Then when you ponder, keep your questions (or write it down, so you don’t forget.) Then ask God the question you have been pondering. You’ll see your answers will come. (Listen to small clues) Believe it or not. I get some of my questions answered my TH-cam. Or they get answered in church. God will help you I promise. You just have to ask. Then do. It gets easier with time. The Book of Mormon has changed my life. I too wasn’t active. (I can now hit myself up on head. Lol. Because I missed out on opportunities and blessings.) I know through Jesus Christ’s Atonement, that he loves me. You are a Child of God. You are loved and blessed. I wish I would’ve been doing this a long time ago. I admire you for being so brave as to speak up on this. There are many people who have a hard time. I just wanted to reach out to you, as I have witnessed myself, the blessings of prayer along with reading the scriptures. It change in my life for the better. I want everyone to have the knowledge and tools to read with full heart. Sending hugs from afar. 😉🙏💛😇

      Understanding scripture is a life long process, but the good news is that it won't all be on the final ;-) in the end, all that matters is that we know it is true, that God loves us and is our Father in Heaven, and that we are meant to live with Him again!

      I've read this wonderful book every day for 34 years now, only missing 62 days. I do NOT say this to brag as I needed this book to keep me on the path. I'm just as weak as anyone and it scares me sometimes. There was a time of approximately 3 years when I didn't feel the spirit at all but I kept reading it anyway as I had promised I would do so. I have had all kinds of experiences over this time that are so powerful and it has become the best part of my day. I now have a testimony that is like the Tree mentioned in Alma 32: strong, tall and unshakable. Of course, if I neglect it and stop reading and praying or fail to repent of sin, it can wither and die just like any tree would that doesn't get the water and nutrition it needs. Please just commit to reading it and be determined to do so. Eventually, the spirit will come in His own way and time. I can testify to that.

      Timothy Elliott I Too had to repent of my sins. I am going to a class that the church has. You can ask your Bishop about it. It’s through the LDS Family Services. It’s called Addiction Recovery Program. (A guide to addiction Recovery and Healing) My Bishop recommend it to me. At first I was like, “Well ok, if you think I should go, then I will go.” My family was like you don’t have any addictions. Well, I went anyways. I really enjoyed the lessons. I enjoyed the people. I listened to their testimonies as well. I no longer have any desire to drink alcohol or smoke, and I don’t even drink coffee. (I used to drink that everyday.) I just quite! Mostly because, my Savior suffered so much for me and I love him. When you you repent, pray first to God and ask him to help you to have the courage to talk to the Bishop. You will want to back up and not do it. (That will be the adversary.) Don’t listen just go. This is for you and YOU are a Child of God, and God loves you so very much. (Just like that of parents have for their children.) I can tell one thing, if this video touched your heart, like it touched mine. That means God wants to reach out to you. He wants you to come back in the fold. (When you do go everyone will rejoice. You mind (not your heart.) will play on it’s insecurities, Don’t listen. Instead pray to God to take that away and walk in the light. You have much to do on this earth. Always remember you are a Child of God. Best wishes to you. You can do this! 😉💛🙏😇

    Seeing it depicted this way made me realize what Alma the Elder must have gone through. Can you imagine being the prophet and having your son rebel against the church you are teaching? Unimaginable pain must have afflicted Alma the Elder. This story also shows how a loving parent whose child has gone astray can petition the Lord for help after all they can do, and that through the Atoning power of Christ, even the vilest sinner can be made whole again. This episode is probably the strongest I have felt the Spirit out of all of these. Well done!

    A My son, give ear to my words;
    B that inasmuch as ye shall keep the commandments of God, ye shall prosper in the land.
    C do as I have done,
    D in remembering the captivity of our fathers;
    E for they were in bondage, and none could deliver them
    F and he surely did deliver them
    G put his trust in God,
    H shall be supported in their trials, and their troubles, and their afflictions,
    I and shall be lifted up at the last day;
    J I know…of God.
    K born of God
    L seeking to destroy the church of God
    M neither had I the use of my limbs
    N the very thoughts of coming into the presence of my God, did rack my soul with inexpressible horror
    O the pains of a damned soul.
    P I was harrowed up by the memory of my many sins,
    Q I remembered…Jesus Christ, a Son of God
    Q’ I cried within my heart, O Jesus, thou Son of God
    P’ I was harrowed up by the memory of my sins no more.
    O’ joy as exceeding as was my pains
    N’ God sitting upon his throne…my soul did long to be there
    M’ my limbs did receive their strength again
    L’ I have labored…that I might bring souls unto repentance
    K’ born of God
    J’ as I do know…of God.
    H’ supported under trials and troubles…and in all manner of afflictions
    G’ yea, and I do put my trust in him,
    F’ and he will still deliver me;
    I’ and I know that he will raise me up at the last day
    E’ delivered them out of bondage and captivity…delivered them out of bondage and captivity
    D’ remembrance their captivity; yea…remembrance…their captivity.
    C’ ye had ought to know, as I do know,
    B’ that inasmuch as ye shall keep the commandments of God, ye shall prosper in the land
    A’ Now this is according to his word

    Wow! Fabulous! I thought I would be disappointed, how can any attempt to display the magnificent things which occurred in the ancient America's found in that holy and sacred book?! And yet, perhaps it is by the power of God even the Holy Spirit that enabled these to portray it so well, and to touch the viewer's hearts, perhaps the Holy Spirit changes it in our minds so that we see as though a vision the way it really was for Alma the Younger. History truly came alive and it was so real. Perhaps by divine intervention and inspiration these have re-created it perfectly, this is how it really was! The trees, the voices, the houses, the people. When I seen Ammon oh how my heart leapt and water of joy flowed from my eyes. And Alma and his brethren came alive with such power, and his parents, even the beloved Alma the Elder! Oh that we could've seen King Mosiah's joy also, but we did behold his sons. We see Mosiah in the other videos. Sufficient. Indeed! Thank God for these videos, those who made them, all who contribute to them, these videos suffice to accurately portray what God has done for the ancient inhabitants of America and yeah us also. And the entire earth! The scriptures now have yet one more avenue for being written on the hearts of all humankind! Hallelujah to God and the Lamb forever and ever Amen!

    I love how forgiving Alma the elder is of his son. He prayed for him everyday to come back because he knew he could. Alma the Elder too had sinned greviously against his god as one of Noah's priests, but he had repented and been forgiven. He never lost faith despite the circumstances.

    In the scriptures it says they were afraid the ground would divide asunder when the angel's voice boomed like the sound of thunder. The Earth was literally shaking so violently they thought it would crack beneath them and they would fall in. The angel even says, does not my voice cause the Earth to shake beneath you? It was awful power and fear that overcame alma, this encounter was no joke

    My favorite part of this story is that the friendship of Alma the younger and the sons of Mosiah lasts and that they're all changed from this experience. I remember reading the story of them meeting together before serving their missions and having them all be righteous still when I was a teenager and wanting the same thing for me and my friends. That we'd stay changed. We didn't see an angel, but we had spiritual experiences at church and in young women's and with some of them it didn't last, it's sad, but I know God never gives up on anyone ever. He will give them every opportunity to come back if they want to.

    This is the one episode in the Book of Mormon that sets it apart from any other book of scripture. It walks us through the ENTIRE conversion process, and explains in great detail the steps to repentance, and illustrates what a true change of heart is (and the restitution that is often required). This is why Our Heavenly Father had to bring forth the Book of Mormon in our day - to explain how we all need to fully repent and come unto Christ.

    We watched this during dinner after the special worldwide fast on 4/10/20. Had me in tears, well done. I wish they would've added a part where Alma makes amends to those he harmed, as it states in Mosiah 27:35; it would've helped the story come full circle in my opinion. Other than that, amazing video!

    I hadn't noticed this before, but the scene where the young men were about to set out to carry out their plan, I think it's Ammon who tells Alma the Younger, "We are with you!"
    Whether or not this was ever said before they took off is irrelevant, but if it's Ammon who said it, it's perfect for the relationship because later, Ammon was a leader of his brothers and helped aid in bringing the Laminates closer to God and becoming Converted unto the Lord, Jesus Christ.
    In the scriptures, Alma also becomes a missionary leader among the Nephites, while Ammon and his brothers were helping with the Laminate people.

      As I watched this video the thought occurred to me that, perhaps for some of our wayward children, their spiritual awakening experience with a divine being, like Alma, may come on the other side of the veil. We must never lose hope in the power and desire of the Savior to save His flock.

      It’s because your sons grew up in the Information Era. Now that the internet can efficiently link us together and spread practically all known information, all of the fallacies and inconsistencies of religion, especially Mormonism, are now very available to learn about. Basically, anyone who is Gen X or later can use the unfettered information of the internet to undo the propaganda and half-truths that religious leaders use to remain in power and collect tithing. I’m sure that you have “a witness,” in the form of an emotion, that your religion is the exception. But every member of every religion thinks that, and probably has a similar “witness” claim. Plus, emotion can be easily manipulated, like Mormonism does with Heartsell. Also, evidence has been revealed through the internet that LDS apostles get paid, so tithing isn’t really about the Widow’s Mite. It’s not that your sons are unfaithful, but rather, that faith has been debunked thanks to the internet.

    This is one of my favorite stories in the Book of Mormon. Similarly connected with this one is my other favorite one that's when Alma the Younger is teaching his son Helaman, found in Alma 36.
    One thing I learned to notice from my institute class is that even after this miraculous event, Alma still fasted, studied, and prayed much to know of assurity the truth of his powerful experience with the Angel of the Lord. I'm sure he also sought to go back to the scriptures and study the Gospel of Jesus Christ more fully, so as to keep his Testimony and to relearn what his Parents had strived to teach him.

    Part of what makes The Book of Mormon so powerful is that their experiences coming unto Christ can be just like our own. Each of us can either see ourselves as Alma the younger, his parents, his friends, the people, or even possibly as God saw him. God shows great love and power to help his people, if we humbly turn to Him.

    Thank you for this marvelous representation of what happened to Alma the younger! Truly it shows the pains of his soul. Before he did not see what wrong he was doing and damage to the church. The rest of us may not see an angel calling us to repent, but we have a living prophet who is calling us to repent. We heed his words.

    Alma reminds me a lot of myself. I, like Alma, was born into the church and the covenant, but fell away because of the foolish errors of my youth. I began to believe in things that were against the values of the church, and became swallowed up in the sins of the world. I became addicted to unhealthy things, which in turn made me miserable and afraid. One day I decided to turn away from this worldly influence and it wasnt until then that I realized just how miserable I had become because I had fallen away. That time, when I finally realized my sins, was both the worst yet best time of my life. It was hard, really hard, but during that hardship I came to understand the scriptures better and come closer to my Lord and Savior, and slowly became more and more converted to the church again. That was a year ago. I am still struggling, but my better understanding of the Savior has helped me easier overcome my weaknesses. Know that you too can repent and come unto Christ, no matter how many times you've sinned. God loves you too much to simply push you away. He wants you back. I have learned that, and you can too.

    What a crazy five months this has been since this video was released! I have to admit, it brought me to tears today. As with reading the Book of Mormon or the Bible, I am touched each time I watch these marvelous and divinely-timed videos.
    If this pandemic is getting to you, please reach out to someone who can help you. We all need those people, like Alma the Younger's amazing parents, in our lives. If you don't, you are welcome to reach out by responding to this post. I am far from perfect, but I can pray for you and with you. If anyone else sees your response before me and feels so inspired, maybe God led you here to help someone in need. We will make it through this trial! Let's help each other through this!
    For now, let's cling to our Savior's words, given to Paul for Timothy and for us, today: "For God hath not given us the Spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." (2 Timothy 1:7)

    The account of Alma the Younger in the Book of Mormon is my favorite (next to the climatic account of the Risen Lord, Jesus Christ ministering to the people in the Americas). The account of Alma shows to all the world the God whom we worship: a God of perfect forgiveness, a God of Redemption. Alma is the reason why of all the titles we intimately have for Jesus of Nazareth, the one which forever resonates with me is: Redeemer.

    Alma the younger is troubled about his many sins. His soul suffers until he remembers what his father taught him about Jesus Christ, the Redeemer. He calls upon the Savior for forgiveness. Suddenly Alma the younger’s sorrow and suffering are replaced with joy and peace. This is an awesome story in The Book of Mormon. We can all learn from his example.... Alma the younger wakes up and testifies to the people that the Savior Jesus Christ has taken away his sins and he is a new person. He says he has been born again. The sons of Mosiah repent and believe in God.
