“Blessed rather is he who hears the Word of God” is a bad translation. It should be translated “Even more blessed is he who hears the Word of God and keeps it!” Jesus is giving a Double Blessing to His mother: 1) for being His mother; AND 2) for being His best disciple. He is NOT taking one away in favor of the other.
