  • Follow Babylonian priestess and businesswoman Beltani as she investigates who is undermining her barley fields and tavern.
    --
It’s 1762 BCE. As dawn breaks in the Babylonian city of Sippar, Beltani- a priestess and businesswoman- receives an urgent visit from her brother. He makes a troubling accusation: her tavern keeper has been undermining the business Beltani relies on in her old age. Now she has just a few short hours to find out the truth. Soraya Field Fiorio details a day in the life of a Babylonian naditu.
Lesson by Soraya Field Fiorio, directed by Keegan Thornhill.

Yup, for instance the Code of Hammurabi is kinda... extreme on punishements. If someone cut your arm, the judge will cut the arm of your aggressor... (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code_of_Hammurabi, the french page is more complete, thus the artefact is in Paris) BUT it was one of the oldest record of "weighted" punishment and law in the History. For instance one of the "law" says " if you said you are married, but you does'nt have any contract, it means you are not married". Before that and without written rules... well there was just vendetta, revenge and self-justice.

I have read somewhere before that inequality between men and women arised in the ancient civilization when the need for work force also grew because of wars and farm works. The need for children were great because of work and so women were then forced give birth and stay at home because of their small kids. By that time, women were treated as economic properties and the inequality began.
