- 🇱🇰 SRI LANKA - My Indian visa was about to expire and a friend said to me: "Go to Sri Lanka!" . Friends and family told me I was crazy to go to a country with an economic and political crisis: Sri Lanka was going through a tough time, gas and fuel were hard to find and the Sinhalese population was taking to the streets to protest. But in life I have always chosen courage over caution, and I have never regretted it. Life needs to be lived chasing one's passions, and my passion is to travel, to learn and to make the world understand that there is nothing to fear in diversity: the world is full of wonderful people who give you their hearts.
On April 4th 2022, I boarded a nearly empty flight to Colombo. Once landed, I immediately knew that I had arrived at a special island. On the tuk tuk to my homestay, I instantly fell in love with this wonderful country: yet, I didn’t know that it would help me to change my life.

Sri Lanka is without doubt a beautiful Island ,full of wonderful people,amazing things to do ,full of History and unbelievable foods to try and enjoy .I have visited many times since 1978 when it was Ceylon
How wonderful it must have been also that time!
@@toohappytobehomesick it was amazing in 1978 and still amazing .I was a little shocked on my first visit ,no tv no a/c ,no telephone food took forever to arrive ,no fancy 5 star hotels ,they had the " Rest Houses" which were better than any fancy hotels ,sadly most of them have now vanished .
Since then I have always returned and am planning my next visit this November for 6 months or longer .I have booked a lovely boutique hotel ( Elegant Hotel in Kandy ( my favorite spot ) .I love the Hill stations and will be revisting them all again .

When I watched this video suddenly I remembered how we suffered at that time without cooking gas , gasoline. Fortunately now the country is much better than the time you recorded this video.
