Téa is doing that weird face because she doesn't want Yugi and Joey to tell anybody she works in Burger World because past time jobs are forbidden at Domino's High School. Also there are 3 movies : The Other Abridged Movie (based on Season 0), The Abridged Movie, Bonds Beyond Time. I'd recommend watching them after Marik's Evil Council (episode 1 to 5). Finally there are 3 songs : Leather Pants, Brooklyn Rage and Pharaoh's Throne.
Also there's another song: Without Yugi, where Yugi raps about other abridgers and how they suck... though that's an early song. And Yugi vs. Yugi: Rap Battle.
I read the manga back when Viz put it out in English. Even the duel masters parts were way darker. The manga goes into the ancient Egypt origins. I remember Bakura drags Atem's father mummified corpse. Bakura kills Atem's right hand man who then it's manifested as Dark Magician. Bunch of other crazy shit.
That's why I h*ted Season 4 fillers, my hometown's library does have all of the tomes and knowing how passionnate that last arc was, I got frustrated to lose time
YuGiOh was originally just a "game of the week/villain of the week" kind of manga, which Season Zero reflects. The "Magic and Wizards" episodes got so popular that it eventually morphed into the YuGiOh we all know and love today. Ngl Season Zero Yami is the best version. He really was "Dark Yugi" instead of "edgy misunderstood Yugi" in Season 1 onward
Yeah, ironically "Yugioh" literally means "King of Games," because the pharaoh was good at a variety of different games, and each episode they would have a new game, even the "you can only use one finger" game. Its weird how in the dub they use the phrase King of Games, but at that point its more like King of ONE game, that is the duel monsters card game TM Pegasus
I really love the manga. One of my favorite scenes is where Yami plays an improvised game with a whole gang who nearly tortured Joey to death. They all get electrocuted after losing.
tbh I find the anime version more unsettling. Yami used magic to trap him in an illusion were he believes he is burning to death. Then it cuts back to the real world and he's just screaming please help me it hurts and everyone's like "wtf?" I mean presumably he is stuck like this. Did he just descend into madness? Will this illusion just continue for the rest of his life? Pretty fucked up, Yugi. Pretty fucked up, Joey.
For the Bonds Beyond Time Abridged movie, they make lots of references to ShadyVox's Yugioh GX abridged (which was discontinued) & Yugioh 5Ds (which doesn't have an "official" abridged series), but you can get the gist of the jokes from LittleKuriboh's vids: "Card Games on Motorcycles" (which sets up the running jokes for 5Ds Abridged going forwards), "Yugi Vs Jaden Rap Battle" & "YGO 5Ds One Shot - Card Games For Charity" (which establishes the "lore" of what 5Ds is like in LK's Abridged verse). That's why the GX & 5Ds jokes were mentioned during the Noah arc because most of those vids came out at around/after the time. The 5Ds One Shot came much later afterwards, so its jokes get used for the BBT movie, too. LK also did a short parody series that's basically an abridged of Naruto Abridged. It's way crazier & frequently references stuff that went on behind the scenes in the Abridging community at the time & pokes fun at Naruto Abridged. You don't HAVE to watch all of Naruto Abridged to get the jokes in LK's parody, but it does help to know a bit about the jokes he's mocking.
Season 0 is very dark. They only play duel Monsters in about 3 episodes or so. Yami always changes the game. The games are known as yami games, penalty games, dark games, and punishment games. Kaiba is very evil in this season. Yami is so very cruel. Kaiba even tries to kill yugi and his friends. And yami mind crushes kaiba and puts him into a 6 month coma.
Apparently it was damn near impossible to find good quality uploads of season 0 back then. It did originally air in the 90s after all. And that was one of the main reasons littlekuriboh didn't continue with this series.
You can actually find 12 episodes of this fan dubbed on TH-cam and all 27 episodes subtitle. It starts this way and then moves towards the card game later on. I'm on episode 7 now, never knew this existed lol, just like some people don't know about the original Baki series.
The opening is my favorite song from the band They Might Be Giants, “Birdhouse in Your Soul.” It’s about a night light, and I highly suggest you give it a listen.
well, considering his health issues and how long it takes him to finish a regular episode, that would probably be too much to ask for him. that and he mentioned he can't do any more episode, as it's close to impossible to find the original video material without subtitles enbedded into them, so he has no material to work with.
I mean, you might want to just watch Season 0 straight up. It's super dark and kinda hilarious. I like that it doesn't focus strictly on the card game exclusively.
You can see the fan-made dub for season 0 the closest thing we have to an English version by team Millennium Productions they've done the first 11 episodes amazing series and you can see just how messed up some of these things get
Yep, he only made 3 episodes so far, and it seems like he's moved away from uploading this kind of random side content for the time being. These days he either uploads a new episode of the main series or a new review of a Yugioh GX episode. I would say his uploads are less frequent, but...tbh its always been pretty infrequent, so nothing new there.
yeah the Tea subplot in the original series is confusing from an American perspective. Japanese high schools have policies restricting how much students can work. They often have to get permission from teachers. I believe Tea didn't want to ask permission because she didn't want anyone to think she was neglecting her studies.
Yeah, she didn't want to get in trouble for breaking the rules, but she wanted to save up money to pursue her dream. This episode was even weirder, because at first the one other girl who keeps showing up randomly (named "Miho") kept saying she had to go, but was secretive about why, so Tea was like "I'll look into it." The next day both of them say they have to go, and Joey suggests maybe they're doing something sketchy like getting paid to make people...happy, if you catch my drift. Tristan says he will look into it, then sure enough the next day all 3 of them say they have to go, it's like wtf is going on. Then it turns out, oh they're just working at a fast food restaurant. The first half of the episode is like a detective movie with all the mysteries.
Season 0 was the best season of yugioh. The abridge made me watch the original and turn me to the band They might be giants who do the opening song in the abridge.
Pretty sure season 0 abridged wasn’t finished because little kuriboh couldn’t find decent quality season 0 episodes to edit amd work with. That and maybe legal trouble

@@marvelsandals4228 Yeah hopefully someone makes Yu-Gi-Oh anime that's really based on the Original Manga for the Kazuki-san Legacy.
Its funny how LittleKoribo used the original music from season 0 for his abridged serie but used another for season 0
Don't feel bad. It was just an illusion, the guy wasn't really burned to death... in the anime. He actually was burned to death in the manga.

3:39 High school rules forbid students to have a part time job, so Tea / Anzu is threatening Yugi and Joey / Jono-Uchi to stay silent
9:52 Melon caught that faster than Toei catches people using their content within fair use

There's spoof episodes like the ebonics one or just music videos. Don't worry about copyright claim little kuriboh sings them in character voices.

I love Yu-Gi-Oh so much my favorite cards are Baby Dragon Dark megison
Red eyes black Dragon
Dark megison? You mean Dark Magician haha
I wish they would reboot the series and stick with the manga, it was so dark and intense.
Who would have thought that the YPD would get even worse over the years...
Thanks Obama
