  • @119dozen55sweet

    OT depth chart told us they would draft a tackle high. Fisher is a better LT than RT right now. And he’s not a turd. He needs to build up his lower half, and his upper half will lean out in his 21 and 22 year old years. Plus, buying a top OT now means 2025 first rounder can go to CB or WR or iDL. And KG is an injury bust: meniscus, pec tear, high ankle sprain, labral tear all in a matter of about 6 months.

    • @reidawg72
      @reidawg72 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Your statement that Fisher is presently a better LT than RT is false. Alt played LT at ND so we have no clue if Fisher's any good at LT beyond his one start there in college. We can only hope that, unlike Heck, Fisher is capable of playing LT at a level consistent with his RT performance.

      years 30-34 are actually prime years, which veteran tackles play at their best. Tunsil's contract will be up when he is about 32, Nick views things in 2 year windows, so he may give Tunsil a 2 year deal then. Fisher doesn't have the pass blocking acumen to replace Tunsil in the next 2 years.

    Oline is the core of any good team. You have to protect your qb, and injuries tore us up last year. I see Tytus getting traded for a quality player or even some picks. Fischer will be the starting RT.

  • @Bull.Bash24
    @Bull.Bash24 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    The knock on Fisher is he is not a polished pass protector, he is a better run blocker. he tends to struggle mechanically snap to snap. He has quick feet and can mirror, his struggle is as a taller tackle he doesn't always bend and use the correct leverage. He is also susceptible to inside counters. That being said, this staff did a great job working with the rotational pieces being shuffled in and out of the lineup. We saw development out of Fant, Dieter, Kendrick Green, Patterson, and Scruggs. This is the first time since the Kubiak era, that I feel we can actually develop offensive lineman. best case scenario is Tytus is healthy all year and we don't get to see Fisher. Worst case scenario, Tytus gets injured again in training camp and Fisher gets thrust into the lineup before he is ready.

    • @119dozen55sweet

      Heh. Per a pretty smart NFL scout... Fisher is adept in pass pro, his weakness is in sustaining in run blocking/lower body power. And Fisher is 48th percentile in height amongst all Combine tackles, not ‘tall.’ The guy who played tackle opposite Fisher is a full 3 inches taller.

    • @Bull.Bash24
      @Bull.Bash24 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@119dozen55sweet Fisher is listed as 6"6" (depending on the website you reference) Alt was listed as 6"8". also note that the combine heights will factor in hundredths of an inch for that percentile average. Also a note, while reading through scouting reports, scouts tend to tail off on the detail when you get past the big board prospects and often regurgitate based upon a players height/weight profiles. Every player under 6'1" is on the small side, every player under 210 lbs has a thin frame and so forth. I collect data and watch film (yes Im a nerd that way) I have listened to Ross Tucker, Damien Parsons and Keith Sanchez on Locked on NFL Draft as well as Bucky Brooks for their opinions and see what they say, then I will go back after the draft and watch 6 games sometimes more, I look at how they progress year to year, their best performances and their worst. As to my assessment, you can be a decent pass protector and still have some flaws in your game, the lower half and sustaining/finishing run blocks is also a concern as you have mentioned. Now I am not a Notre Dame fan, nor have I watched a season of their games, some one who followed them would have a far better assessment than I. What I can say is he is raw for a 59th overall pick compared to most tackles, he hasn't played his snaps exclusively at Right or Left tackle, he is just 20 years old so he still has the time to be developed into hopefully a reliable, if not starting caliber tackle.

    So much complaining about this pick and I don't get it. Anyone remember starting practice squad players on the OL at times last year? Not investing in OL depth is like having a Corvette (CJ) and refusing to buy insurance. I'm curious if they plan to move him into a guard spot or not.

    Fisher should be backing up both Howard at right tackle, and our starting left guard.
    Will our starting left guard be Kenyon Green, Scruggs, or Patterson?
    I deny the possibility that Howard will play left guard this season outside of another complete loss of Oline personnel akin to last season.

    If you want to learn something about Blake Fisher, watch him vs Ohio State. You’ll see a polished kick-slide (drive-catch) in pass pro on a number of reps. That’s an NFL technique, you rarely see college kids use it. Note how quickly he covers the arc. Watch Alt opposite him… he jump sets, vertical sets, shuffle sets. Watch Fisher (and Alt) handle stunts - no panic, easy hand offs. Watch him shoot to second level, impressive explosion even if he’s out-leveraged from the snap. And that guy Fisher held down all game, #33 for Ohio State… that’s Jack Sawyer. He’s a top 50 EDGE in 2025 draft. 😎

    There were OLineman we could have drafted who would be starting day one = OC Jackson Powell-Johnson, OT Patrick Paul, OT Roger Rosengarten, OG Cooper Beebe, OT Matt Goncalves, OG Mason McCormick , OC Tanor Bortolini, OG Christian Mahogany,

      Hope I can help to clarify. Casserio was looking to trade up before pick 42, the cost of doing business was too steep for his likings. Casserio viewed a starting caliber cornerback higher than a reserve tackle, wether Lassiter plays outside or in the nickel, he will still be featured prominently in defensive packages. Fisher, when he was selected was the best tackle available according to experts and Casserios draft board. Our offensive line has many more promising options on the interior offensive line. Kendrick Green whom we acquired from Pittsburgh, improved significantly. Juice Scruggs and Patterson showed very encouraging signs at both guard and center. Mason, while not the best guard we have ever seen, was reliable. Hope is that Kenyon Green with his surgery, will now be healthy and develop into the player we thought we were drafting. There is not much drop off when you swap these names around, the drop off at tackle is significantly steeper, both our tackles have had injury concerns in the past.when you look at the draft, most of the players we have drafted rounds 1-4 are not projected starters, they were brought in to push the current starters, elevate the competition, and provide options in roles, rather than starting spots.
