Brad Delp was one of rock's most prolific vocalists. THe band's formula was amazing to say the least, such a pity there was so much strife. It really impacted Delp's mental health and was a contributing factor in the taking of his own life. He's deeply missed by my generation.
Because of the reaction channels, I recently learned about Brad's passing and how. It broke my heart 💔 to know that such a talented man with such a sweet crystal clear voice was gone... I remember the group Boston when they were new and I fell hard the moment I heard them on the radio and vinyl!!! 🌟 🇺🇸 🎤🥁🎸
Every time you think he can't sing any higher...he hits the note. So many outstanding singers back in the day!
Never gets old!!!! BOSTON'S FIRST ALBUM IS FIRE🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🎸🎸🎸🎸🎤🎤🎤🎤🎶🎵😎
70's music and talent can never be duplicated. It was more than a feeling!
The late great Brad Delp and Sib Hashian.
A lot of you guys remember when this came out and how huge it was
Between this & Frampton Comes Alive, yep....the mid 70s was magical indeed
Absolutely!! Their first album stayed with most of my brothers well into the 80's.
This is an edited version. The real (album) version is much longer and has an additional verse.
"Foreplay/Longtime' should be your next Boston song. Same album. Considered one of the all time best debut albums ever, and was the highest selling album for a good time. Great reaction guys!
Hell Yeah
RIP Brad Delp, one of greatest rock and roll voices ever...
My favorite song of all time. Boston had the best-selling debut album for decades. Every song is a banger. Brad Delp (RIP) is a truly underrated singer, he spans 4 octaves in this song. He also sings all backup vocals. (This video is not live, it has the album audio played over it.)
Tom Scholz (lead guitar in the video) is the genius behind Boston. He played all instruments except drums on the album and recorded it in his basement with Brad and a drummer (not the one in the video). They had to hire a band so they could tour. A deep dive is recommended here.
I think he (Tom) has the tan guitar, and he’s the only person without a mustache.
This song never gets old it's perfect! Nice reaction chaps ❤
Brad Delp with the golden pipes. Tom Schultz and "The Rockman" sound.
If I had a dollar everytime this song was played on radio in the 70's, I'd be stinking rich.
This whole Album is great front to back !!!!!
RIP Brad Delp😪 💗 One of many greats taken to soon..⭐
Great song. One of the best vocalist. Gone too soon rip brad delp.
Bradley Delp, a friend since age 14 and a singer with soul without compare....His own favorite music?....The Beatles.
They are one of the best in guitar rock… and this their debut album I challenge you to find a bad song…☮️❤️🙏
Boston was the first concert I attended in 1978. I was 14. I have been chasing that first-tme feeling my entire life. ❤❤❤
O to be 14 again. 1976 was a monster year for music
Seeing a More Than A Feeling reaction never gets old. It’s like re-living a first kiss or something. Thanks to the two cool brothers, wish my brother was as cool as u 2.
The Rock's late father in law on drums
Tom Scholz's 1 man masterpiece, conceived and recorded in his home studio (dude's an MIT educated engineer). I believe the rest of the 'band', other than vocalist Brad Delp and Sholtz himself, were put together for touring after most, if not all of the original LP was cut.
They had all played together over the years, but Tom had been taking so long making that second demo that they went other ways just to keep the money flowing and their chops sharp.
Vocal ability is crazy just when you think he's singing in a high pitch he takes it to another level. Just love Boston. Great reaction as usual guys and Peace out 🙏 ✌️ ☮️
Can't express enough, how huge this album was....!!
Just ALL over the radio waves....!
(STILL the #2 selling debut album..)
I absolutely love this song. His voice is...wow 😮
Made that album in a basement.
Alright Laa and Chee! One of the best first album s ever!
A fundamental rock track, and my favorite of theirs. A massive hit, and the one you'll hear on classic rock stations.
5 star banger. One for the centuries.
You cant tell where the drummers fro ends, and beard begins. its magnificent, i cant look away, lol
Boston
Smoking
Rock and Roll Band
My wife is a talented vocalist with 30 years experience from childhood, a family of musicians. I was taking her to see a "BOSTON" cover band "Long Time" (excellent by the way). So, I played this first album from beginning to end while we were driving to the venue and she was just floored by Brad Delp. Stopping, rewinding and listening again...She compared it to a "UFO" going from 30,000 feet to sea level and back again in 2 seconds.
True masterpiece
If I could establish a temporal loop from 1965 - 1985, I could be happy for eternity. I experienced this all as it was coming out new, so I know. Nothing before or after compares. IMO, peaked in 79.
Everyone I knew in high school had this cassette (I know I'm tellin' my age). In the student parking lot after school, we all jacked up the music for the ride home. And when Boston came to Macon, we were all there. I can honestly say they put on a fantastic show. My personal favorite is "Rock & Roll Band." Thanks, guys. Y'all ROCK!
Excellent choice!!! Love them ❤❤❤
Love Boston, so many great bands in this era. Thanks guys!
Saw Boston in concert on their Third Stage tour. Great concert. The music was so loud it was like it was coming up through the seats into our bodies
Boston's amazing debut album was released in 1976 and then 2 years later, another band from Boston "The Cars" released another amazing debut album. I grew up on the North Shore of Boston and those were some very good times in the Bay State.
Boston woke up the music world with their first album. It made all the other bands step up their own music.
Memories-One summer weekend at a friend’s parents lake cottage & this new release album blasting on a car stereo all day all night. It was torture. 😂 💜💜💜
You can do the entire album. Such a great debut album.
No falsetto. That’s full voice. Isolating the vocal track is unbelievably amazing.
Literally heard this an hour ago, at Nobo Cannabis store, and remarked to receptionist, “They need to play ‘More Than a Feeling’, more often.” Uncanny! 😳☺️✌🏽
Not only does the late Sib Hashian have a massive afro, he has a massive son-in-law. The Rock. Sib died of a heart attack while drumming on a cruise performance.
This album came out my senior year of high school. Like millions of other teenagers back then, I bought a copy. There isn't a bad song on this record.
The entire debut album is by far one of the all time greatest ever!!!!
You won't find a bad track on this album. It's epic!!! One of those you need to have in your collection.
Brad Delk should be mentioned in the top of the top singers EVER. Up there with Robert Plant, Steve Perry, Dennis De Young, Freddy Mercury ECT. Delks range is SICK! He's the male Mariah..... He never got the notoriety he was deserving of.
The band as a whole is simply AWESOME! What a sound..... Great band from the greatest decade in music the 70's
Boston burned soo brightly for such a short time. Such heavy hitting music.
❤ this! Boston chic here! What a time it was back then, a vibe that I was blessed to experience! I wouldn't change my age cause I had the best experiences! The music scene here back then was incredible! Che, you may be thinkin' of Heartbreaker by the Stones! You guys are the best, Keep on keepin' on! ✌️☮️❤️🎶
This song in the start uses the chords from CREAM called : BADGE
This song always gives me flashbacks. When I was in Navy basic training, back in early 1991, we'd run PT in a drill hall, because there was too much snow and ice to do anything outside. Our Company Commander would play this song on the sound system in the drill hall. That descending guitar part, right before it goes uptempo into the chorus, always seemed to give us a massive surge of energy.
Boston was playing in my car non-stop…all of it. An exceptional album.
Killer debut album and song
I remember wearing a Boston T-Shirt being harassed because kids said “Boston isn’t Rock and Roll”
Boston had a unique sound for the time. Album went to #3. Tom Scholz was the mastermind and basically was the band except for vocals and drums. Not a great live band but the album was fantastic.
We'd jam this on the jukebox in the cafeteria in high school when it cameout...that jukebox lasted about 2 months lol. Had Led and everything in it.
10th grade...riding around playing this casette loud.
Saw them this tour, too.
Hearing this the 1st time, I went out and bought the LP.
What a ride, RIP Brad Delp.
I was the barber for the band, Boston, from 77-81, but I never actually met any of them during that time.
This was the first rock album my parents let me buy. I was so excited and played it over and over!
I love that you can clearly hear every single note the guitars play.
Saw Boston in concert a few times over the years since the Don’t Look Back tour . Have a signed Don’t Look Back album cover with Brad Delp’s autograph.. Prized possession..
Amazing riff, and out-of-this-world vocals. Not only can Delf get to that lofty register that few males can reach, but his voice is quite rich and aesthetically pleasing. The subject is something most of us have been through, so it's relatable. This is one of the greatest rock songs of all time.
This genre of Ballad/Arena/progressive style rock was filled with other bands that were great in their own right:
Boston
Kansas
REO Speed Wagon
Styx
Chicago
Rush
Journey
I'm sure I'm missing some, but there are a lot of gems in there.
This was on repeat for months. The whole album is fire
Delps sustainment was incredible and duly noted in this video. The high notes as well...Wow!! Thanks for the review guys!
Amazing album! Every song is a gem!
I saw them play at the Uptown Theater in Chicago, their 2nd live performance ever anywhere. It was a stunning show as they had released this song the week before the show.
The only word I can use to describe this song is epic!
Best Debut Album of all Time. Every song on it is 🔥
2nd best. Not an insult. I rank Van Halen 1 above it. But u can't go wrong with either
Saw them live - sounded like the album…seriously. My guy can do that in 1980 multiple times.
The song “ A man I’ll never be” live is remarkable given the lack of technology.❤😊
The mastermind behind the bands sound is Tom Scholz, which he singlehandedly created in his basement. Collectively as a band, this is one of the best albums ever produced.
Lot of stone nights in the basement to this album 😎
What are the baddest jams ever made!
On the top of my "perfect song" list 🔥🔥💓💓💓
Great reaction! Such a great song and great vocals! So sad Brad Delp took his own life. 💔
When I was in my late teens we got a buddies guitar amp and portable 8-track player.. and cranked the first Boston release on a main road in my hometown!!!.. 👊🏼😂.. Was about 11:00 at night .. Needless to say the cops were called and we had to shut it down .. They were sympathetic and told us of a spot outside town where they knew there was an electrical outlet access for the amp .. We knew the place and went there and cranked to whole 8-track..
That Riff you Were Hearing somewhere before was Lifted By Nirvana For There Hit Teen Spirit .
Fran Sheehan is my favorite bass player because he always danced as he played.
THANK YOU, DONALD FAGEN, WALK BETWEEN THE RAINDROPS, VERY SMOOTH
What can you say about Brad Delp’s vocal acrobatics on this song. He hits that huge falsetto high and sustains the fuck out of it! Just an amazing performance. The whole band for that matter. Also the guitar riff is etched in my brain since the day this album hit the airwaves. Today’s weak music makes me realize without a doubt that we reached the mountain top in the 60s and 70s. No one has been there since as far as quantity, quality, musicianship and lyrical content. Yes there have been bangers in other decades but not in the abundance we had in the 60s and 70s. Today’s music just can’t touch it!
These guys were really something. Lots of great songs! Thanks for sharing this one. 🙂
Saw them live in 78, sounded just like studio!
1976 Boston , Moxy & Black Sabbath , San Antonio Texas , Convention center Arena i was 16 years old
Champagne for the ears.
Tom Scholtz is the bass player and the writer of the songs for Boston. He is a MIT graduate.
For sure . Every song on this album was good . Bands then , to sell an album, you had to have more than 3 bad ass songs to sell it . Loved growing up in the 70s .
I was at at a Blue Oyster Cult concert the night we heard about Brad, broke my heart
When everyone talks about classic rock vocals they all mention Robert Plant, Freddie Mercury, Ian Gillan, Annie Wilson, Ronnie James Dio... But Brad Delp was just as good OR BETTER than anyone!!!! Too bad we lost him in 2007(RIP to Brad). I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE YOU GUYS HAVEN'T HIT 100K YET!!!
Yes, you can't beat Boston - with Brad Delp's phenomenal voice and the harmonizing of the voices and guitars. Beyond classic, beyond timeless.
Amazing vocals!! This is an edited shortened version of the song.
BRAD DELP ON VOCALS AND TOM SHCOLZ ON GUITAR BEST DUO EVER
I'm amazed you're just getting to this band. Great stuff!
Love BRAD, miss U! RIP😅
Brad sang both lead and backup vocals on the albums.❤
MIT grad and recording Genius. That is the story
Hands down one of the greatest albums ever produced. Hit play and walk away!
Very cool expression
