Love the video and the ideas. I'm only one person so I don't really need to extreme budget, but I love to see how cheap I can eat anyway. You have better luck with the biscuits if you add some acid , replace 1 tbsp of water with white vinegar because both baking soda and powder react with the acid in buttermilk even the small amount in milk. Never twist when cutting biscuits, it seals the edges and can hinder rising. If you place the biscuits touching they will use each other to rise higher.
@@treasureyourtime The vinegar would make up for the acid that is in the buttermilk, but not in the water. If you use buttermilk you don't need vinegar.
I know I'm a year too late on this post but wanted to let you know that parsley naturally helps lower blood pressure (as well as looking beautiful). Using it is a total win-win!

Right??? I Subscribed as soon as i heared that ❤😊 was going to sub anyways. I will move to uk in a few (maybe 2) years to live with my boyfriend as Soon as our baby boy is born and we want to look for a house then😊
I use the quarters all the time. I roast 2 or 3, and the rest goes in the crock pot. Separate and shred the meat for casseroles, and the broth makes a large pot of soup with a bag of mixed vegetables and either noodles or dumplings.
The nice thing about the leg quarters is you can save the bones and trimmings to make a homemade broth too! Another nice thing about many of the recipes you shared with us this week, is that they can easily and affordably be adapted and changed. You can use different seasoning and ingredients to account for preferences/dietary restrictions or to use up whatever you have on hand.
Yes 👍 You are so right. I wish I wouldn't have forgot to mention the broth. That is such an important point for new cooks. Thanks for mentioning this. I love the idea of families adapting these recipes for their own tastes. Also I was kind of bummed that I didn't highlight the use of the shredded cheese in my recipes more. I could have topped those potatoes with it. I thought I would use it more at the end, but I just ran out of time.
Terrific recipes! You also might want to use some of the trimmed fat to render out for use in making your roux (it'll add flavor to the oil that you're using).
You are soooo creative with each meal! You truly amaze me with each plate that you serve up, very beautiful and pleasing to the eye! Your chicken looks scrumptious!!!
We use a simple drop biscuit recipe ALL of the time. I can’t find the original recipe online (my husband found it like ten years ago when we were newly wed college kids), but I love it because it’s no fuss and dirt cheap. It’s 2 C. Flour, 3 tsp. Baking powder, 2 Tbsp. Sugar, 1 tsp. Salt, 1/3 C. Oil, and 2/3 C. Milk. Stir together until combined, plop onto a baking sheet and bake at 450 Fahrenheit for 12-15 minutes (my I oven usually cooks them in 13). I’ve found they’re fluffier when you don’t overwork them, and work just fine for biscuits and gravy, without the extra mess and steps to roll and cut them out.
@@pennynickels5216 I haven't tried freezing before baking, but we've frozen them after and they seemed just fine, as far as I can remember. I haven't tried it in a few years, since my family is big enough now where my kids eat most of them right away.
Snowballing is what I call doing extreme budgeting. You have the first week high in carbs but will have leftover food you don’t have to buy next week and can Add a pack of frozen sausage if you can or markdown 😅meat. Remember to SAVE all your cooking oil for cooking. Taste is wonderful.
Thank you for the wonderful ideas. I was lucky enough to purchase 2 of the 10 pound bags of leg quarters from Aldi this week discounted to $1.49 each. I never catch the markdowns and was elated, and this gives me more ideas of how to use them for my family of four (adults). This weeks ideas were especially helpful for us, as my son has egg allergies and none were included in this haul. I love watching your videos, thank you for sharing with us.
Yay! 😁 I'm so glad you like this video and it's especially helpful for your family. Thanks so much for letting me know 🥰 Wow. You got a GREAT deal at ALDI. They do frequently have great markdowns but you have to be there when they do it because they move FAST. 😂 🏃♀️
You did a great job. You’d have enough from your crockpot chicken to make a chicken and rice soup for another dinner or lunch. Also with a little more rice a chicken fried rice for another lunch. Lots of possibilities with the extra chicken - chicken biscuit sandwiches? So many meals! People can feed their families but they actually need to cook and not use convenience foods. Snacks and drinks consume a lot of grocery budgets. Eat popcorn(popped yourself)for snacks and iced tea or water for drinks. That would save a lot of money for many families. A 12 pack of coke now cost around $7 - that same $7 can buy chicken to feed a family for a week. 100 teabags (house brand) is maybe $3 and would last a family two or three weeks for pitchers of iced tea for the whole family.
I agree - beverages and snacks eat up a lot of budgets. Better to drink water between meals and we used to have peanut butter on saltines or toast for after school snacks.
Mayonnaise makes a great sub for fat/buttermilk in biscuits. I love the big bags of chicken legs! I use one (frozen) leg in the instant pot with 3 cups water, poultry season, onion and garlic powders, and chicken bouillon. 25 minutes, natural release. Great soup plus shred half the chicken for other recipes. Customizable with rice, potatoes, veggies, etc., added after 1st natural release. Cook another 10 minutes or so with another natural release.
If someone is short on cooking oil or fat, save the fat you trim off the chicken and any skin you remove. You can render the fat out of that in a frying pan. Chicken skin chicharron is delicious.
I look forward to your videos every week! As someone who lives a continent away, it always amazes me how much food you can buy for $20! I feed a family of 7 every day and your creativity inspires me every time. I have a child with several food allergies and I've learnt to adapt so many recipes. Now I need to figure out how to make affordable gluten free biscuits, it's not something we eat here
Hi Jolene 😁 Thank you so much. I love reading comments like this. May I ask what continent you are on? I have a lot of viewers with health conditions and food intolerances so I usually try to have some variety but adapting recipes is definitely key. Hmmm.....gluten free biscuits 🤔 I may need to add this to the recipe "to do" list.
I also find if you ask the butcher at your grocery store when they put out the reduced meat each day you can get excellent deals usually half the price. I take it home and freeze it immediately. Thanks you gave me some excellent ideas.
I started yelling at the screen, “Wow, homemade KFC!” Amazing. I will try every recipe in this video. I had never heard of Hasselback potatoes, but I need those in my life now. So enjoyed this video, thank you!
Hi Becky 😁 Yay! 😁 I'm so glad you like my recipes. Obviously those biscuits are great with butter and honey too 😂 That's how I used to eat mine when I got them from KFC. Have a great week!
yeah and I noticed they have good deals on the Great Value brand frozen chicken too. Not quite as good, but still good. I wish I would have mentioned that. It was super busy at Walmart the day that I was filming. 😞
Michelle, I love how creative you get with making meals. We do a lot of shelf cooking towards the end of the month to empty out the freezer and the pantry. We always feel those are the best dishes when we just throw things together and use spices. Thank you for what you do 😊
Hi Dajana 😁 Thank you so much! I love the idea of doing the shelf/pantry/freezer cooking (no spend meals) on a regular basis towards the end of the month. That would be so helpful. Yes I agree...those meals are the best, because it forces you be more creative. You're welcome. I'm so glad you enjoy my content.
Good job! From scratch takes extra time but it’s better for you and the flavor is off the charts! My family wants to go out to eat all the time but they’re always disappointed. Restaurants cannot compete with from-scratch cooking.
Thanks Bethany 😁 This comment really hits home. My son and I went out to a Mexican restaurant last weekend - first time out in awhile, and it was SO BAD. We both hated our meals. It was such a waste of money. 😂 Everything is so expensive!
I don't know if you have an Aldi's near you, but the one 30 minutes from my house has that bag for even cheaper. The last time I checked it was about $5. Also, I like evaporated milk for milk/cream substitute because its shelf stable and it has a really nice flavor in cooked dishes.
Hi Maya 😁 I do have an Aldi near me. I haven't seen those there, but I wasn't really looking either. Thanks for the heads up. I'll check the next time I'm there. That's an awesome deal 🔥
You saved my mental wellness tonite. I was despairing over my food budget ( 2 weeks from a money drop), and you made gravey look doable and uncomplicated- I have always used canned gravey or the juice from a roast. So I made it with a glutenfree flour blend sub, and now I feel hopeful about my future. And I added gravy making to my resume! 😂 I promised myself I would tell you that my despair lifted while I was crafting a roux for my first time! Thanks.
Hi Claudia 😁 Thank you so much. I'm so glad this video was helpful for you. Yay! This makes me so happy 😁🌼🌺 Being able to make a roux is a total game changer in the kitchen because you can use it in so many different ways. If you only have rice in the pantry but you have bouillon and a little oil you can make a delicious and filling rice with gravy for dinner. I love that you were able to customize it with your gluten-free flour. As many others are pointing out, I could have also saved the drippings from the baked chicken to use in the roux. Thanks for letting me know this was helpful 🥰
Good use of your ingredients! Now I want some scalloped potatoes- one of my favorites that my mom made. You know you did a great video when it makes subscribers think of their mom’s cooking.
Yum! Great budget video. 😊 A thought for those who do not have a fat/oil in their pantry: boil down the skin and fat parts that were removed from the chicken, allow it to cool and skim the fat from the top. The water portion may also have a chicken flavor and can be set aside and used. When baking/broiling chicken in the oven, the sheet pan drippings can also be used as a fat/oil. Thanks for the great video!
Very impressed with all of your ideas and recipes. It is not necessary for me to stick to a budget but your ideas really motivate me to do so. Your recipes top the most intricate ones and the end results look more appetizing than the famous chefs' efforts. This is my favorite Utube read.
Yayyyy!!! I’m so glad you liked the idea! It was a lifesaver some weeks when my girls were little. It’s also great when you need to feed a ton of people and have a small budget. Two of our favorite ways to do it were 1) remove the skin and brown it with s & p, garlic, onion powder and paprika. Brown them in an oven proof skillet then add a teriyaki sauce, make some garlic butter rice and something green of your choice. Crazy cheap and easy but people go Gaga over it. 2) barbecue chicken and potato salad. Super cheap and easy but a big crowd pleaser.
My son and I are vegetarians, but my husband eats meat. Ideas like this help me plan crock pot meals for him to keep him happy too! Thanks, as always! ❤
We have vegetarians and meat eaters. I brown up ground beef, cook pork shoulders in crockpot, cook chicken in crock pot and then portion and freeze. My meals are tacos (lentils for vegetarians, beef for non), chicken a la king over rice (use white sauce with margarine, flour, and plant milk for veg. For meat eater add some instant chicken bullion powder and the chicken from freezer first dethawed in microwave. Use a bag of frozen mixed vegetables.), Loaded baked potatoes (steamed broccoli, margarine, vegan baked beans - for non veg also add bacon and ground beef crumbles), homemade pizza, Chinese stir fry, etc.
Great video. I liked all the ideas. I personally would have collected all the bones to make a bone broth in the slow cooker. That way you can control the salt level and freeze it in different portion sizes for future use such as gravies or soups or stir fries.
That's a great suggestion. 👍 I always run out of time on these videos, but I did want to mention that for those that are new to cooking. 👩🍳 I had those pieces of fat too that would have made a great broth.
Who would have thought that one bag of chicken could be stretched so far? Great job, AM! ~ I'd never heard of hasselback potatoes before. Thanks for the primer. ~ It was nice to see you put a few of your Temu purchases to use. Have you bought anything from them in the past few weeks? If so, we'd love to see them! ~ Have a great week!
Hi Linda 😁 Glad to introduce you to hasselback potatoes. 👩🍳 Temu wants to sponsor lots more videos so I'm sure you will see them again soon. Have a great week friend 😁
Your chicken meals look fabulous! Incredible that you got all of that chicken and veggies for only 20 dollars. Chicken and potatoes are so easy to prepare and always a big hit with my family. I've never tried to make biscuits or scalloped potatoes - now I will. :)
Hi Stephanie 😁 Thank you so much. I'm glad you like my recipes this week. Yay! I'm so glad you're gonna try the biscuits and scalloped potatoes. Hope you love them as much as me.
So this might feed one for a month! Excellent. After you pat out the biscuit dough, fold it over onto itself a few times. This will give them more layers. Also, if they touch each other while baking, they rise higher. 😋💛😊 I love chicken potpie
Hi I'm new to your Channel I want to thank you for the delicious meals that you prepared. During these times of inflation of food at the grocery store it's nice to know you have something in your back pocket to make for your family that's yummy delicious that you can afford.
I'm so glad to see people doing these kinds of videos. There are so many people struggling right now. Food in my Walmart (upstate SC) is higher than yours. But this would still be budget friendly.
Hi Michelle! More great meals, as always. I’m TRYING to get our oldest son to use some of your meal inspiration instead of the drive through and junk food he seems to live on, but no luck so far - I’m sure at 22 that I was more health minded and more of a cheapskate! And my kitchen torch hasn’t been what I’d hoped either, it’s most often used to light the fireplace! It does seem to work for crème brûlée, but that’s about it!
Hi friend 😁 Thank you so much for your support of my channel and for helping to make these kinds of videos possible. 💜 This isn't the kind of food I normally eat, so it's an extra expense for an unsponsored video. I can't even get my own sons to eat on a budget. They waste a lot of their money on UBER eats. 😞 Glad to hear the feedback on the torch. Thought it might be me 😂 I love creme brûlée but for some reason haven't made it yet.
That chicken is a great find, at less than one dollar per pound. When I found out about it, I bought it and prepped it all the same day. I cooked it in batches in my instant pot. I fully cooked some and partially cooked the rest. I am only feeding myself, so I froze single portions. I labeled with the date and fully or partially cooked. It's so easy to pull out a portion to fix any chicken dish that I'm in the mood for. The bonus of making in the instant pot, I ended up with more than a quart of broth.
You can also wash your chicken with lime water or a little vinegar mixed in water, let it soak in a bowl for about 5-10minutes then rinse. Also you can scrape & remove the little yellow 'skin' on the tip of the drumstick.
It’s just a PSA to people who use the Walmart app. Please be aware that sometimes things in the story could change before they switch it on the app for example. it might say that it silverware is in required aisle, but they might have recently changed it or they can say that they do not have any more eggs left, but there still could be some on the shelf two things to remember if stock is low, they will consider it as sold out or if they move things around the location may not be available for a few days. Especially seasonal items in some location’s lawn and garden.
You do such a good job with the money, make it look so appealing, flavor w seasonings just right not too much not too little, and make it look do-able. I just love your videos Michelle, thanks for sharing ❤❤❤
You can use oil, bacon grease, or butter to make biscuits. Any fat will do. Use what you have. You can also make a buttermilk substitute for the biscuits by adding 1 tablespoon of vinegar to 1 cup of milk. Let rest for 5 minutes. Add to your recipe like normal.
You did it again! A practical and creative tutorial. Your biscuits looked great and your meals looked appealing. In my area, biscuits made with oil are called pilot bread. I make vegan buttermilk by putting 1 qt of water 1/4 cup of oats, a pinch of salt and 2 Tablespoons of apple cider vinegar into a blender. I blend it until there isn't a trace of oats. Some recipes call for half a cup of oats which makes an even thicker product. I am with you....I bought a torch and cannot get the golden brown I want . I always get black char!
Michelle, I look forward to your videos. I receive so many ideas from you! These recipes look wonderful. Your thoughtfulness towards us and your apparent caring really come through. @@ArdentMichelle i adore mine! i just upgraded to the SepTree ten tray all SS from amazon ($200 w/free shipping) and i invested in silicone perferated sheets and silicone ''trays' for liquids like eggs., this is going up from the Nesco Gardenmaster (all plastic) i bought FORTY FIVE YEARS AGO, and still working! but now i learned to be concerned about micro/nano plastics we are ingesting from all the products we have contact with, and in the environment too , of course. the worst studies appear to show that microwaving or cooking in any type of plastic is very dangerous for us, releasing those unseen bits into the air we breath and the food we eat. i gave up my non stick pans years ago, teflon then, and also aluminum! i went to stainless steel, and of course, now they are saying that SS leaches nickle and cadmium into our food. you just cant keep track!! i would buy glass pots/pans, but pretty sure they wouldnt survive my kitchen!! Thank you for sharing your always delicious ideas and preparation tips. Especially appreciated in these economic times. Take good care ❤
I would scrape off the chicken fat/bits left on the foil for the roux, it would add great flavor for the gravy. Even an economical meal is a feast when served with love.
Just saw a video from Julie Pacheco and she priced the bag of mixed veggies frozen against the can of mixed veggies…the can was cheaper!! And the fresh broccoli was cheaper than the frozen. You remind me of her, you are clear and explain everything and very nice to listen to with a nice voice. And you’re so sweet to call us family!!! I am gonna check out your other videos, and I am definitely subscribing!!! Just added the leg quarters to my Walmart order!!😉😉🥰🥰
Hello 😁 Julie Pacheco is great! The can has water added though, and the frozen doesn't. I guess one would have to weigh out the actual product to be sure. I'm guessing they are probably equal. I'm partial to the frozen though, because it doesn't have all of the added salt that canned products do. But fresh is always my favorite. It's crazy how fresh can be cheaper than frozen. Glad you like this video and thanks so much for the nice complement. 🥰
Love your ideas. Re chicken hindquarters, particularly from Walmart, I found that they included a significant back bone, so there wasn't a lot of usable meat. Made incredible stock from the bones though! I've started to wonder if boneless breasts, often at $2 a pound now, aren't a better buy with 100% usable protein.
Thanks so much. 😁 Hmmm.....my Walmart has Great Value frozen breasts at about $3 a pound. 🤔 The bones definitely take up weight. 👍 My oldest son prefers the breast meat. Someone said ALDI has a great deal, so I want to check there next.
Hello and welcome 😁 Yes I've been thinking about making a "quick" bread. I haven't made a savory one before, although I've made plenty of sweet breads and zucchini bread. Thinking about trying it.
I've been looking for saffron recently at the Persian market. My son said they keep it at the counter so I have to ask for it. I've been playing with the idea of making a rice dish that calls for it. I've never used it before.
@@ArdentMichelle it's flavourless in my impression. I still use bouillon. The colour it adds is a soft yellow and I add it at the beginning. Not intense in colour or flavour as is turmeric. American saffron is less expensive than Spanish.
Our Super 1 Foods store had 10 lbs of chicken leg and thigh quarters for $2.70 before tax. Great deal and you can make so much food with it when you add other bargain grains, pasta, rice and beans.
I love watching your budget cooking videos, and the comments are full of more tips! I've tried subbing bacon grease in biscuits, they're super flaky and light with bacon flavor
Very nice! I love your videos. If you would like the biscuits to rise a little better and you do not have buttermilk, a little trick is to add just a tiny bit of something acidic, such as a teaspoon of vinegar or lemon juice. Both baking soda and baking powder will react a bit more with the presence of acid. Very nice. I love your creativity!
Adding herbs/garlic powder/onion powder to biscuits was a common thing for my grandmother. For those pinched very tight the chicken fat can be rendered to use in cooking.
Hi Victoria 😁 Thanks so much! 😊 and welcome to my channel. I hope you'll consider subscribing. I do a variety of content but the extreme budget videos are the most common. I have lots more on my channel that you can watch until I release the next one.
Thanks so much 😁 Glad you like this video. Yes...gravy is so much fun. You can do so many things with it, including making an awesome enchilada sauce. I made a great video on cheese enchiladas with this same technique.
Well done ! You did a fair job on the pricing. A bag of flour is crucial for budget meals, or any meal really. People just have to be willing to cook and do the work , as you did. A great tip (that I do when we get a Costco rotisserie chicken) is to use the bones, skin, any fat and left over meat to make stock in my crock pot. I put those things in, with water, seasonings and any veggies I have and let it cook on low over night. This makes a beautiful chicken stock. 🥰🌱🌿🌷💐☔💗✝
Thanks so much 😁 That is a really great tip. We sometimes boil the carcass but I love the idea of using the crockpot . LOVE this. Thanks for sharing this.

Thank you for these ideas. I love all the meals you created. I am fortunate that I do not have to watch my food budget too much, but I know that food insecurity and extreme low food budget can happen to any of us on a blink of an eye.
Hi Debbie 😁 You're welcome. Glad you like these meals. I have a wide range of viewers. Some don't have enough money for food and others that do are living on tight budgets in order to pay off their houses. I agree-- you never know what is going to happen in life. Better to be prepared. 😳
Thanks for a great video again! Since I'm in Canada I went on the Walmart online grocery and put everything in my basket from this video just for comparison. For us it came up to $63.51. Great video! You could even take some of the cooked chicken meat, shred it, season it with taco seasoning (or however you like it), and make stuffed baked potatoes for a meal. Bake the potatoes about an hour or until done…split them open, and top with seasoned chicken and some of your favorite toppings….which could be simple things like sour cream and shredded cheese. Yummy!
Thank you. You are such an inspiration to me - I dont personally eat meat either but I can always think of ways to substitute for plant based or legume or bean things.
Look into maseca in the flour section. I like the yellow corn variety. You only need to add water to make corn cakes or tortillas. They may look bad at first but try them as a layer in casserole with beans, meat, rice etc. Iv branched out to extruding soft dough into hot oil and salting for snacks.
Love the video and the ideas. I'm only one person so I don't really need to extreme budget, but I love to see how cheap I can eat anyway. Buttermilk wasn’t used in the recipe so would vinegar still be of benefit?

Agree completely!

And bake your own treats! Oats are cheap and are nutrient dense. Bars, biscotti, cookies, crust, granola, oat scones, topping.
Thanks so much 😁 yeah it's amazing what you can buy when you purchase basic whole foods.
Hi Becky 😁 These are useful tips 👍 Thanks for sharing with us!
I never liked mayonnaise, but I did try it making biscuits with it once 😊😊I like trying new recipe too
❤❤, thanks for sharing, next time chicken go on sale I am going to do it, thank you so much, that's a great 👍👍 ideal ❤❤
I save all my (clean) potato peels, toss with seasonings and oil, then bake into crunchy snacks.
I meant to mention this in my video. Potato peels are delicious!
Yes! This is one of my favorite snacks! Or as a garnish on potato soup.
I used to take the potato peels and soak them in salt water to make starchy water that I used to turn it into sourdough starter.
If someone is short on cooking oil or fat, save the fat you trim off the chicken and any skin you remove. You can render the fat out of that in a frying pan. Chicken skin chicharron is delicious.
Great tip 👍 glad you mentioned this.
@@ArdentMichelle I'm in South Africa 😁 Not only a continent, but a hemisphere away 😂
@@mommajo got it 😂 feel free to send me recipes from South Africa 😁
@@ArdentMichelle I definitely will 😉
@Jolene van Niekerk that would be great if you can send some recipes from your country. I would like to try foods from different kontinents. 😊😊
Re-watching in June 2024 & this chicken is $8.72. Still a great deal.
agreed. 👍 That IS still a good deal!
I also find if you ask the butcher at your grocery store when they put out the reduced meat each day you can get excellent deals usually half the price. I take it home and freeze it immediately. Thanks you gave me some excellent ideas.
Hi Connie 😁 That's a great tip. Thanks for sharing this!
I pour some bottled Italian dressing over my hasselback potatoes then bake. Incredible flavor!
@@ksacosta69 I'll have to try that.
Congratulations on 30,000! Well deserved!
Thank you so much 😀 🥰
I bought the chicken leg from Walmart a few times it really does make a lot of dinners even for a party of 6 like us.
yeah and I noticed they have good deals on the Great Value brand frozen chicken too. Not quite as good, but still good. I wish I would have mentioned that. It was super busy at Walmart the day that I was filming. 😞
Fresh leafy greens, cabbage, and carrots are also very economical. Versatile, have fiber, and are nutritious.
true 👍 I make a ton of carrots on my channel 😂
@@ArdentMichelle I usually find the bags on the bottom shelf where the whole chickens are, kind of tucked back in a corner if that helps 😄
Thanks.
The quaint housewife is also a great budget cooking resource. Good luck
Hi Jerrie 😁 Thank you so much! Regarding my subs thinking of their moms cooking- 😂 Well I do want my channel to feel like home. 🥰
My mom made those too.
I love seeing you post!!!
Same!! Always so excited to watch one of her vids!!
Yay! I'm so glad. 😁
Thank you so much 😁 Love these helpful tips 👍
Chicken fat is called schmaltz it is loved in Yiddish cooking. I used to save it all the time but somehow lost the habit.
Very impressed with all of your ideas and recipes. It is not necessary for me to stick to a budget but your ideas really motivate me to do so. Your recipes top the most intricate ones and the end results look more appetizing than the famous chefs' efforts. This is my favorite Utube read.
Hi Margaret 😁 Wow. Thank you for the nice complement. I'm so grateful for the positive feedback 🥰
Hi Barbara 😁 You're welcome. Yay! I'm so glad you found this helpful. We have to feed those carnivores too. 😂
Plus I love your idea of freezing it in different portion sizes. That's very helpful.
Who would have thought that one bag of chicken could be stretched so far? Great job, AM! ~ I'd never heard of hasselback potatoes before. I'm so glad to see people doing these kinds of videos. There are so many people struggling right now. Food in my Walmart (upstate SC) is higher than yours. But this would still be budget friendly.
Hi Sara 😁 Glad you like my video.
@@ArdentMichelle I guess it’s a blessing then that we’re so far out in the boonies that our boys can’t Uber Eat! 😂

Yes it really is a good find. Thanks for sharing this info. 😁
You and Justin need to open your own restaurant Michelle. It would be wildly popular ❤

Hi Stace 😁 Thank you so much. I'm glad my videos inspire you.
You can also wash your chicken with lime water or a little vinegar mixed in water, let it soak in a bowl for about 5-10minutes then rinse. Also you can scrape & remove the little yellow 'skin' on the tip of the drumstick.
Thanks for these tips 👍
I love watching your videos. It gives me a lot of ideas for meals. Keep them coming
Hi Rhea 😁 I'm so glad you enjoy my videos. Thanks for letting me know. 🥰
We buy the chicken quarters at walmart often great way to add protein stretching the budget as well. I really enjoyed this video.
You have a very relaxing voice🙂 great meal ideas!

You could put cheese & ham in the hassle back potatoes or make a cream cheese& herb drizzle to top it.

Yes, thanks for this reminder about the buttermilk!

I am with you....I bought a torch and cannot get the golden brown I want
. I always get black char!
Thanks Sara 😁 I love your vegan buttermilk recipe 👍 I'm saving this. I think the vinegar definitely would have helped.

That is a good point and one that I should have mentioned 👍 I agree- love makes everything taste better 💜 It's an ingredient that I ALWAYS use.

To put color in my chicken n gravy dishes I use American saffron. I get it very inexpensively at a local Middle East grocer.

In my experience dough doesn’t stick to wooden rolling pins after it is seasoned by using alot. The oils sink in.
Very nice! I love your videos. If you would like the biscuits to rise a little better and you do not have buttermilk, a little trick is to add just a tiny bit of something acidic, such as a teaspoon of vinegar or lemon juice. Both baking soda and baking powder will react a bit more with the presence of acid. Very nice. I love your creativity!
thanks for the tip 😁 and also the complement 💜
Adding herbs/garlic powder/onion powder to biscuits was a common thing for my grandmother. For those pinched very tight the chicken fat can be rendered to use in cooking.
great tips 👍 yeah it makes sense about the garlic or onion powder - it would lend a nice flavor to the biscuits.

Look into maseca in the flour section. I like the yellow corn variety. You only need to add water to make corn cakes or tortillas. They may look bad at first but try them as a layer in casserole with beans, meat, rice etc. Iv branched out to extruding soft dough into hot oil and salting for snacks.
maseca is on my bucket list to try 👍
