Honestly the first time I watched Supergirl, I didn't even notice her accent. It wasn't until I watched interview did I start catching it. Katie is awesome!
I think it works for her because while the American accent is kinda bad, she still delivers every line with such conviction. Plus it's fun to think Lena's mom was Irish. Season 6 had a few fun moments but I don't consider it cannon
Obviously Lena's biological mother was Irish. That would explain Lena's Irish accent since she is, after all, Lex's half-sister. It's a perfect casting since Lena's actress Katie McGrath is Irish in real life
I love the Irish accent. Ms. s on Orphan Black was the best of all. And they both have that Irish heart shaped hairline and black hair with green eyes.

Maybe her character *is* Irish, or supposed to be; that's hinted at with the cautionary tales she said she grew up listening to. Well, regardless of that; her interest in witchcraft was real proof that she's really darn dumb for a genius like herself on what to associate with, and the fact that she was trying to oh, *reboot* Alexander Luthor's *conscience/soul* and going for *that* mechanism; seriously, young lady; how stupid do you have to be to take oh, Hell's Red Tsar's assistance to liberate your stepbrother from under its thumb?! That's NEVER going to work, Least of all how you'd *want* it too! I mean: that evil alien is flat-out SADISTIC in the extreme- it takes the greatest joy it can have in causing harm, *especially* to us humans; and the occult?! that's directly dialing up that mafia don for "favors"!
supergirl OMG such a shit show...... i cant stand the lead actress. and or writers. katie i seen her in old series........ wizard guy. king arthur or something series. she was cute. by the end of series she grown into amazing women. i noticed every roll i see her in is basically same thing. she is loner, single, alpha female. so i just go out on a limb and assume that is how she is in person lol.
