Thanks for all these videos on the Boss IR2, I'm just waiting patiently to get mine next year, it's on Back Order. So these videos help me get through the day.
Glad I could help! I am sure you will not be disappointed when you get yours. It is refreshing to not have to menu dive to get a good amp sound. the stereo effects loop and all its features are what I think was missing in these type of units. Have a great day!
@@ThePaddedPedalroom What I would really like to see is a video with it being used Live or with a Band. I'd really like to see how it performs in that setting.
It's probably just me but I like all of the higher gain sounds from the BRIT onwards. It reminds me of what Ani Di Franco was doing during the Dilate album. Thanks man!
After listening to it again, you are right, they are not that bad, it depends on what sound you are going for, but they are still very usable. Thanks for your comment. Have a great day! ;)
Interesting to hear an acoustic through the pedal. I bought the IR-2 a week ago here in England but haven't had a chance to try it on a gig or open mic. I have the same Gibson acoustic but only use it at home but I will try the pedal with my Fender Acoustasonic Telecaster. Many thanks!
My Pleasure! I have a video coming out later today or tomorrow where I try the IR-2 with an acoustic IR , I was rather impressed with the results, tell me what you think when you see it. and let me know how the IR-2 performs on a gig, I am curious. Have a great day!
Cool sounds out of your acoustic! What pickup is in you Gibson? I have a hybrid system in my Martin. Part piezo and part microphone. Pretty sure my mic would start to feedback pretty quickly...
Hi Chris, thanks! This is the Gibson L00 studio with solid walnut back and sides it has a LR Baggs Element Bronze acoustic pickup system in it. Rock on!
Just started the video but I expect it to not sound fantastic without some compression and parametric eq shaping beforehand. I like the idea and would love to hear it with those tone shaping steps in place.
I will have to see about making another video with eq and comp In front of the IR2. I did do another video where I swapped out the cab for an acoustic IR, if you want to check it out here it is. th-cam.com/video/2azl2-X0DTQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=SCsK60rc1Z5MFFgC
If a Piezo pickup and a Magnetic pickup both produce an electrical current (I think piezo transducers work in the range of 10 -100 millivolts, and magnetic pickups somewhere between 100 - 300 millivolts?) my question would be: "Wouldn't the sound be the same, since the amplifier and speaker are what we are actually hearing?" 😄 Sorry Francis, I had to throw at least one spanner into the works!! That said "clean" amplifier settings will sound more "acoustic-ish" sounds, so my question would truthfully be better phrased: "Can you by-pass the amp clones, and just get a slight boost in gain from the pre-amps in the Boss IR2?"
Hey brother, thanks for the great insight. Unfortunately I think not, the only possibility would be to turn the amp setting off and just have an IR on, it could be an acoustic IR which could sound great but I don't think the way to switch it on and off would be conducive to a live application. I would just turn off the pedal and kick in a preamp pedal for the acoustic instead. Rock on Brother! ;)
It may sound better that way but I was testing it our for someone and I don't think that it would be ideal for the simple purpose to switch on and off the amp / IR in a live setting would work. Personally I would just turn off the pedal and kick in an acoustic preamp pedal instead, but ultimately a microphone always sounds best. Thanks for your info, it may help others. Have a great day.

@@rihraw I understand but according to the manual the amps are either on or off, I do not think you can save one off and the other on. I will try it but I doubt it.

Love that acoustic guitar tone. A really cool toy. I like the Brit Amp setting
Thanks Brother! Hope you are doing well!
Sounds beautiful, Francis !! ♫
Thanks Hubert! ;)
Oh thank you!!!
👍👍👍 My favorite were the clean and Tweed
Mine too! Rock on!

I know jack about tech stuff, pedals, or tone, but I wanted to say hello Francis. Nice job @The Padded Pedal Room.-dl
PS: I really, really love that TWEED sound.

deffo the tweed mate....i kinda liked the diamond too.
good video mate , informative for those looking at these pedals ect.
Tweed is really sweet! Rock on Mate!
what about wearing a suit made of it for the next video pragnatti?@@ThePaddedPedalroom
Great video...
How about on Bass guitar? Is there any way to change an IR and get an acceptable tone for the bass?
Thanks! I don't think it was intended for bass not sure how it would sound but I could give it a try if you would like to hear it.

i agree with Atlanteans comment :)
Right on Moon!
You might be better off turning off the amp sim, load an IR meant to work with your piezo pick up.

Best to turn off the amp and use an acoustic ir

I was thinking more of saving the acoustic settings on one of the channels.
Or yes one could bypass the ir2 completely when using acoustic. I dont need a preamp as i have one in my guitar
