quick note, the song 'The Sound of Snow Falling' has ties to Emperor Hongli and Empress Fuca's relationship and ties to Fuheng and Yingluo's relationship and how they just generally ended in sadness for both of those relationships as they are all bound by the rules of the palace (even Yingluo to some extent as she does use them to her advantage) especially since she married the emperor she is also bound to the palace
0:47 This whole line also just screams Yingluo and Fuheng
0:59 'melting' quick, soon, fast, meaning that it won't last or will be gone soon, I interpreted it as the snow and that it melts fast
1:09 'cold bitterness' literal is a cold heart so 'Clearly, speaking with such a cold heart'
1:20 'instruction' to give instructions carefully and insistently / to urge / to warn / exhortation - urging someone to do something / for the emperor, this could mean that all he's known is the palace life and that his life of obeying rules and regulations is normal for him (and in a way because he has to do it, he becomes angry that the empress struggles to despite not acknowledging the difference in the roles they have to play) / for fuheng, he follows the regulations of society well and is known to be a model citizen and it could connect back to how he takes orders from the emperor / also, this reminds me of when empress fuca was talking about how when she had spoken more words than her husband and was punished for it, so she's pretending that she was just being given instructions on how to act accordingly and that it didn't hurt her and that it was right of her to be punished

1:42 the line 'born under a misfortunate star' is just an alternate translation to 'with a fate as thin as paper' as they are using the same words with different possible meanings. For example:
"This life has a fate as thin as paper" meaning that their fate (or destiny or hope for a happy life) is shallow and not good
/ "This life was born under an unlucky star" meaning just that at birth, they are destined to have an unlucky life / 'misfortunate star' usually refers to women being born under an unlucky star

2:10 I think what I really love about this line is that (since this song is both sung by qin lan, the empress, and lu hu, who represents the emperor in the song 'Look') she is saying that he has decided that she is inconstant in her love for him when in reality she just wants to escape the rules and regulations that both bind them (it's especially tragic since the Emperor feels the same way) this is also true for both fuheng and yingluo, while yingluo was willing to defy the emperor, fuheng was not and tried his best to free yingluo from punishment within the rules of society / this can also be taken as everyone's desire to live how they want
2:21 'merciful person' imitating the image of buddha or imitating buddha / this line just means they are being idealized and are being trapped by that idealization / there is also an expectation for someone to act a certain way / rongyin is expected to be the perfect empress that does not allow her emotions to affect the harem / the emperor is expected to be as enlightened as he can be (like buddha), hongli thinks that rongyin has also made him out to be someone he is not supposed to be (given that even giving her pity would be inappropriate for their stations in life since she is the mother of the world as the empress) also, because he is emperor, he wasn't even allowed to cry over the death of his children / fuheng is also tied to society and being the model official under the emperor / yingluo has told fuheng before that she is not as kind as he thinks of her and cannot easily forgive once she has been wronged, since she sees fuheng's marriage as him giving her up, she also did the same / in some shape or form, they are all idealized by the relationship they want and by the fact that they are each other's first loves
2:21 'greeting' greet is also yell, shout, call out, hail, order
2:21 'terms of endearment' the qing qing here means three different things 'a high ranking official' or 'a term of endearment between spouses' or 'what an emperor calls his subjects' / I decided to use greeting because everyone is supposed to greet the emperor even the empress so the use of qing qing here not only ties them together as a married couple but also as ruler and subject which is what Empress Fuca struggled with the most as the empress since her deepest desire was to just be a normal woman and to have normal marriage despite being with the emperor / the use of qing qing here for fuheng and yingluo is that after fuheng marries, they can no longer be seen as anything other than how their station in life puts them as / when yingluo is a maid she no longer calls him young master affectionately / when yingluo marries the emperor, even though fuheng calls her yingluo, she always reminds him of her title / it's also so that they don't get in trouble for having an alleged affair
2:26 'unsentimental' pitiless, ruthless, heartless / the literal means that the snow hasn't been influenced by their feelings
/ given that the word 'falling' isn't mentioned, it could also be that the snow has stopped falling which was not what was wanted (especially because of the word unsentimental)
