  • After 9 months of refurbishment work, is the brand newly reopened Bab Al Shams hotel living up to expectation? Let's find out...
Located around 45 minutes away from the city, the Bab Al Shams hotel is nicely located within easy reach of Dubai. As part of the review, we'll check out the newly refurbished hotel following major works by the new owner. We'll check out the public areas, new rooms and new restaurants to see whether this high end desert experience hotel is worth the money.
I stayed a number of times under the old design and loved every minute of each stay. My expectations then were sky high on this trip following a number of upgrades including to my favourite restaurant under the desert stars.

Im so glad you enjoyed the changes! Im part of the brand team for Bab Al Shams in Kerzner and we worked so hard to keep the original heritage while updating the branding and the interior of it, we recently launched Bab Al Shams Spa & Hammam as well and later this year we will have another big launch in Bab Al Shams, come back and experience it even better!

Very much so, you all did such a super job!
The new developments sound exciting. No immediate plans to return however, get in touch via email if you’d like to partner together on some video content for it.

I stayed here just 2 days ago while vacationing in dubai it was the best hotel room I got in dubai. If not, the best room out of all countries hotel rooms I stayed at.

I have to admit I am really saddened by the changes. I had been a regular in bab Al shams for years. The older Ages Bedouin style just gave it this less luxury more authentic oasis feel. The bathtub in the rooms was just one of the most impressive things about the rooms so very sad that they are gone.

Interesting to hear another opinion on this one. For sure the baths are a shame, optimistically I wondered whether they still do something similar in the higher end room options but not so sure.
Having checked out pictures of the old design this week, I felt it was looking it’s age a little bit with the new touches mixing the new and the old really well.
From a heritage point of view it was amazing staying at the old design Bab al Shams for sure.

Thank you for your specific explanation video. 🥰
I plan to go to this hotel in August, I'd like to know about the temperature there.
Will it be too hot for the outdoor buffet at night in August? 🥺🔥

You’re very welcome, glad it was useful!
I’ve visited in the summer and it’s for sure really hot. That said, I still found it enjoyable round the pool and the rates I would expect are much cheaper than peak season in winter also.
As for the buffet, again I did this in the summer, night time temps never fall much below 33 so it’s very warm but with really lightweight clothing it was ok.
      Enjoy!
