Thanks so much for making this video. With your help I was able to do the displays on both my machines. I have newfound respect for the skills and dexterity of the workers who put these little machines together - those buttons and screening foils are b*st*rd fiddly to keep in the right places. Thanks again!
oh man - so glad to hear it helped! Sir68k did some amazing work to create them, and I'm glad to contribute in any way. And yes, I hear you - these things were made 20 years ago and are still amazingly complicated little devices with precision mechanisms. I love them!
Thank you! I hope you're enjoying your MZ-N1! I never would have bought one if I hadn't heard that Sir68k was working on displays... before they became a reality I bought one "cheap" and it sat in a drawer for 6 months
Magnificent Instructional Video (as per your usual high standards) and very intricate work!! Thank You for sharing your knowledge, experience and expertise. 👍😊
Huge difference to the old version. Tiny little comment... using the old tape is maybe the easy way but I prefere a new strip of double sided tape. Now we only need the RH10 displays ;)
I didn't have any thin tape but I would have tried that, too! And yes, I'm eagerly awaiting the RH10 display project... I have a nice orange one waiting for a new screen =)
@@TechnicalInitiative Do you have any video on how to disassemble a RH10? I bought one but I'm not able to open it. not sure if the mechanism is broken. Do you know how to open it? (waiting also for the screens for this one)
It's connected to the main board via a flat ribbon cable and in case you damage it, the kit comes with a replacement. As for the fit of the panels, they fit perfectly without having to worry about lining them up. They take up the entire space that is reserved for the original OLEDs
I was wondering what this Thing Iis and my dad used that Discs for recording in a Rack Type Recorder. So i searched mz-rh1 in used Market and wow this still costs used 250€ to 500€ Well it seems to be a great device. Edited Autocorrection errors =P
Thanks! Yes, they seem to have crept up in price now that there are display replacements, but a keen eye may snag you one cheaply since people can't test without a charger, battery, and working display. I got one recently with bad displays for around $150 USD then swapped the display.
Much better version and thanks for reshowing the procedure. I wish they're back on stock soon!
Thank you! Definitely keep watching for re-stocks because they go very quickly!
Thanks a lot for the instruction video, just fixed my unit with a new display and couldn't have done it that easily without this.
That's awesome! I'm so glad it was useful and I think we're both thankful that someone like Sir68k made this possible! Enjoy your "new again" MZ-RH1!
Nice job man! This video will help for lots of RH1 owners that have faded out original oled displays. Cheers!
Thank you! I hope it helps at least 1 person!
Great instruction, I just succeeded repairing my player
So glad it could help!
I've always wanted an MD player/recorder and MZ-RH1 is one of the coolest.
It's a great choice!

When I was a kid I wanted a minidisk walkman more than air
Now's the time to re-live your childhood dreams!
Mine arrived in New Zealand today. That is me sorted for a couple of hours on the weekend. Great video. Looking forward to having my displays running.
I know you'll be so happy to see them come back to life!
You are just so unbelieveable professional with these things, Hien.
Amazing really. Just wow.
Thank you - Sir68k made it easy!
I dont have and plan to get the RH1. Bought another RH10, mine died and I just love that one. A new screen for that...oh. would be a dream.
Thanks for the video TI, I would love to have one of these MZ-RH1s. I often feel like I am betraying the MD community not having one of these. Cheers.

Fantastic video!!! Thank you so much for recording this! 🎉❤💽
Thank you, very much appreciated!
I have my eye on a Sony MZ-RH1
Good luck! If you can snag one relatively cheap because of the dead displays, then at least you know there's a way to replace them now!
Great vid!!
Thank you!
Great video thanks
You're very welcome - I hope it was helpful!
Does the display panel have registration pins to line it up?

I just check that it is out of stock in your provided website.
Sorry - it's been i high demand, there will be more coming
@@TechnicalInitiative If there is restock, I would like to buy one.
Thanks a lot for sharing the installation guide for the updated OLED version 😊💽
You're very welcome! When the time comes, you'll be ready!
@@TechnicalInitiative Definitely 💯
CDs are more secure than memory chips. You can't use radio reflectivity to read the data.
I want one of this so bad I can't find any in good shape online 😢
I hear ya - prices have gone up since the screen replacements are out. I actually have two silvers, but I want a black one!
@ Do you still have them?
Yes I do!
@ Are you interested in selling one of them?
hmmmm maybe? Can you email me at hien @ technicalinitiative.com or message me on Instagram? Thanks!
