Hot 8 Brass Band cover Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing”, filmed in Brighton’s North Laines.
Taken from their 2007 album ‘Rock with the Hot8’ this band continue to produce highly energetic music, blending hip-hop, jazz and funk styles with their signature New Orleans fat brass sound.
The video coincides with the band's 20th Anniversary and Tru Thoughts' first ever set of official remixes for their iconic “Sexual Healing” cover.
This New Orleans style cover of the stone-cold classic - originally released on vinyl on the back of a club play (in a Quantic DJ set), has been featured in Sex Education: Season 2, 'Music from Sex Education: Season 2 (2020)', the 2014 film "Chef" by Jon Favreau, both distributed by Netflix.

After watching that movie, I downloaded this song and it is in constant rotation on my play list, even more so the Marvin Gaye's version of it

The scene in Chef with this song has got to be my favorite scene from that movie. They just sing it so well, a lot of feeling (I know they're acting but still.)

Beautiful!! I’m seeing the Hot 8 Brass Band in June this year, 2023. I live in the North Laine area of Brighton so it was great to see them here playing. I’ve visited New Orleans a few times and love the city and it’s atmosphere of love and great music!! A great band to represent their fabulous city!! ❤
They’re great! I went to New Orleans for Mardi Gras and they performed at the blue Nile…. I fell in love with their music ❤

One of my dreams came true on Sunday night. I got to see these cats perform live in NOLA. Exceeded all expectations -which were high. Top 5 live music shows I’ve ever been to (and I’ve been to A LOT). The amount of energy they brought to each song for the entire set -I felt that shiz in my bones. They are a must-see while in NOLA -10:30 at Howlin’ Wolf every Sunday (get your tix in advance). You will not regret it.

It’s tradition. The brass bands have a evolved sound of jazz very unique to New Orleans. If you loved this, there is hundreds more songs with the same feel and they are great!
