    You should really come to Portugal. We have a 2nd language called "Mirandês", that's mostly spoken in the Miranda do Douro region, but mostly by old people, and it's disappearing rapidly. In a few years there won't be a single person who actually speaks it.
    I'd be totally down to help you out here in Portugal to make it happen. Send me a message!

    • @IchorX
      @IchorX 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +12

      They should feel welcome here; there's no reason to be cruel, nor do any downsides remotely outweigh the upsides of having a diverse society. The United States and many first-world countries were and are built on immigrants looking for a better life, and that's why we even have such a thing to offer. It's a tragedy that in spite of clear-cut statistics, they are still labeled as violent criminals by brainwashed fools with stone-cold hearts, and even sadder that those bozos are getting their way lately.

    • @JoeMaamas
      @JoeMaamas 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +22

      @@IchorX no, the US was built on settler colonialism over a few hundred years. modern mass illegal migration is completely not comparable even in basic numbers of people alone.

    • @WigglyBro
      @WigglyBro 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +25

      Perhaps they should get papers to make a legit income then? We can achieve a diverse society through due process, not by allowing people to cheat the system and technically break the laws by doing so. There's a process to integrate people from foreign nations and to educate them on the country they wish to reside in to better help them assimilate and therefore see Americans as their own people. Every country has this process but somehow, it's only wrong for the USA to adopt the same policies.
      As for "clear-cut statistics," the data isn't lying when it shows the criminality rates and disparities between which groups are committing the most crimes, especially violent crimes. Per capita is important to observe. We don't need to become the next Sweden or Germany and NYC re-releasing criminals multiples time until they finally murder an American citizen is not OK. That's why the pendulum has swung so far back into the opposite direction. You're brainwashed if you believe otherwise.

    Most of West Africa was colonized by the French. The big exceptions were the Ghana, Nigeria, and Sierra-Leone which were mostly UK, and Cameroon which was German. Eastern Africa was mostly claimed by the UK, with the major exception of the Congo which was Belgian. Unfortunately It was just the way things were from the 15th century up until the mid-20th. The major powers just literally drew arbitrary lines on maps and claimed everything inside as their domain without much regard to the people or cultures.

I tried it in Montreal but I got the feeling they prefer I didn't. My pronunciation is awful but I do remember a fair bit of vocabulary. German always came easier and I have been there a few times. Often when I can't remember the word in French, I know it in German and vice versa. Well done, Ari.

      Don't read too much about the response you got to using your French in Montreal. Quebec has its own unique dialect, and people up there can get very sensitive on matters related to language. I can tell you several stories of personal experiences related to this (I went to college in Plattsburgh NY, just south of the border near Montreal).

I've heard stories about the "ugly American" in France insisting on English, and that it's always a form of respect to learn at least some of the language and make an attempt at it. I've always applied that as it seems universal. Plus, I like languages. Anyway, i made the attempt in Montreal. I know my pronunciation is awful but I didn't think it was THAT bad. Aside from that, I really liked Montreal. I had gone there for the summer jazz festival so maybe they were a tad fatigued with tourists.

      I disagree, a 360 lens means better content because he can film everything even if his camera isn't awkwardly pointed at someone. He might be able to adjust the lens distortion a bit in post, but I'm sure you could get used it, I didn't even notice it because I'm not really looking at the edge of the screen much.

    damn I need to learn more about African culture especially the food.
    Thieboudienne (Ceebu Jën) - Senegal’s National Dish
    A flavorful fish and rice dish cooked with tomatoes, vegetables (carrots, cabbage, eggplant, cassava), and spices.
    The name "Ceebu Jën" comes from the Wolof language, meaning "rice with fish."
    Often served with bissap (hibiscus) juice or tamarind sauce.

      Sadly all I speak is google translate lol.
      To be fair...I really want a 99.9% accuracy universal translator in this world, and while I have alot of distaste towards many uses of AI...I still have hope for how all of the nerds you never hear about are actually doing something cool and useful.
      The framework exists, the AI is almost ready. Time to sprint?

    • @IchorX
      @IchorX 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@py_a_thon Chatgpt alone can already translate far better and more reliably than google translate, but you'll have trouble ever making an AI that can do "universal" translation, languages can be extremely abstract and varied, so training a neural network on all of them is something there almost definitely isn't enough data for on the internet.
      That's not to say AI won't revolutionize cross-language communication though, on top of being far more fluent with translating bigger languages than any other technology, the coolest use of AI translators by far is the ones being developed for other animals. We've made a few big steps thanks to AI, and it seems like AI has already somewhat figured out how to talk to whales specifically, we just can't currently understand the conversations it's having with them.
      AI is villainized because it's a big unknown and definitely going to disrupt our way of life significantly and cause a lot of strife along with that, but so did agriculture, so did the printing press, etc. The benefits, especially in medical advancements, will eventually be far greater than the downsides. (Either that or it will kill us all, but...probably not)
