- Ajit Mahato is a prominent voice in the long-running movement by the Kurmi community in West Bengal to be granted Scheduled Tribe (ST) status. Hailing from the Purulia district, where the Kurmi population plays a decisive role in elections, Mahato has been at the forefront of protests and rail blockades demanding ST status for his community. In this interview, Mahato expresses frustration with both the State and Central governments for failing to address the Kurmi demand despite proposals and resolutions being sent. Mahato has decided to contest the upcoming election as an independent candidate from Purulia, saying the Kurmi community will keep equal distance from both the BJP and Trinamool Congress as neither party has taken up their cause sincerely.

-Yes, casteism is a special grant. They enjoyed special status and treatment for centuries that was passed on from generation to generation as a birth right.

- Most of the zamindars were Brahmins (at least in the Bengal Presidency). They acquired the land that they never cultivated themselves via unscrupulous money-lending practices.

- Read about Pushyamitra Shunga. Also, most early India British soldiers were Brahmins. Even Rajputs and Pathans became their subordinate soldiers later.

-- Yes, for themselves, meaning Brahmins only, not for all. The perculation to other castes came later during British influence. Creation of idol centric gods and goddesses is not a measuring rod for culture or civilization. Declaring Kings as avatars of Gods is political subjugation through psychological manipulation and propaganda. There is nothing spiritual about it.
Having said that, some Brahmins did contribute towards human progress but they never shared the fruits of that knowledge and outcomes with non-Brahmins. Today's social discontent is a result of that. You can't pick and choose the propagation of casteism only when it benefits you.

Idotic concept framed by few idiots . Special grant have not been claimed . Landed property have not been snatched from anyone before the invasion by the foreign barbarians on 1192 AD .
