    Agree with you wholeheartedly Shane and Bill. I just returned from a trip to Perlisten Headquarters where I demoed the S5m with a pair of their 10" subwoofers (new series) and a Perlisten Home Theater Tour.. Gorgeous sound from all volume levels. Lots of detail without being harsh. And with 21 THX Dominus Certifications, I believe they are going to make some serious waves in the HiFi and Home Theater space.

      Shane is just making stuff up! These speakers measure so much better than nearly anything else he’s had I honestly don’t know where he comes up with this. That missing detail is probably the massively boosted treble of his preferred Focals and Bowers. The 805D4 treble is 6dB hot at 10khz relative to 1khz. It’s anything but neutral. There is also about 10dB less distortion in much of the treble.

  • @דןנגר
    @דןנגר 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Great review ...BUT - if you missing any micro-detail ,safe to say that you should check elsewhere .
    either there bass extension is masking some details that you can hear with less wide bandwidth speaker ,but more likely - that an unbalanced speaker, especially one who emphasis the higher end spectrum - let you perceive this anomaly as extra detail .
    i have compared the S7T to 60K and above "audiophile speakers " - and there always had much more micro- detail, which make sense considering there low mass drivers and the 2 (smaller than usual) mid than usual mid domes - add to that an almost non excitant level of distortion - and that's a recipe for extreme micro detail .

      @johndaddabbo9383 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ditto!

    • @C--A
      @C--A 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I heard similar story with a guy who bought a couple of Perlisten D215s subwoofers. He complained the bass wasn't as weighty as he liked.
      His dealer got a guy to come and take measurements. And he found it was because of the super low distortion giving a cleaner more uncoloured sound.
      Probably takes some people a while to get used to hearing speakers like the Perlisten S5m, S7t. That have such low distortion.
      compared to some other speakers thinking your hearing extra detail. But in fact it's some distortion mixed into the sound your actually hearing.

    • @davidlynam8729
      @davidlynam8729 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree on the "missing" micro detail, James Larson tested and reviewed the bookshelf version of this speaker, with the same drivers, and gave it a superlative 5 star rating, no noted missing detail

    • @ffdfdfdfdfdfdfdf
      @ffdfdfdfdfdfdfdf 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The detail people miss with PErlisten is normally distortion. I've seen it myself in their subs. RPO had a scene I thought it was missing something.. it was.. the boomy excitation of a room node. It wasn't in the recording - just something I'd grown accustomed to

  • @C--A

    The Perlisten speakers look amazing but their website needs a few fixes. It only vaguely says Dominus rated for the Perlisten S5m monitors and the other S series speakers. Also the Perlisten S7c centre channel speaker is wrongly specced as having a bass reflex when it's Infact sealed.
    The Perlisten S5m monitors are THX Certified Dominus as surround speakers and THX Certified Ultra as front speakers. The correct information for the Dominus ratings are available on the THX website.

    Recording quality is way better on the Cowboy Junkies, this suggests to me the Perlistens are more revealing. Your digital source is pretty basic, would be cool to hear the comparison on a better DAC and Preamp. On the Rolling Stones Sympathy for the Devil track, while it's not the best recording, that harshness can be tamed with a good digital rig. I'm wondering if the B&Ws are adding colorations to the harshness, so you don't hear it as much?

    Information for the Perlisten S5m monitors at timestamp 0:21 is incorrect. That's the info for the Perlisten S7t towers.

      Klipschhorn isn’t a similar or comparable speaker. It’s a technically bad speaker with a terrible measured response. People who like those are either into their dynamics and efficiency or like the nostalgia. The Perlisten is a technically excellent speaker. It’s completely neutral.
