David's son is David's Lord?! - The Case for Messiah

- Many psalms are labeled "A Psalm of David", but one of the most important Psalms of David is found in Psalm 110! "The LORD [YHVH] says to my Lord [Adonai]: “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.” Yeshua quoted this Psalm in a question to the Pharisees in Matthew 22 asking how can David's son also be his Lord? As you can imagine this Psalm is still hotly debated today!

If man can not prove how the Lord was born to a virgin, how did He rise from the dead, how did He change languages , does that make man superior? Abraham believed God could raise Isaac. His faith was credited as righteousness. Jewishness is faith in God. Even after God parted the seas, Moses knew Israel would rebel. Our Lord knew His Father's business even at the age of 12. He knows He was before Abraham. He knows the eternal Kingdom is His. He is living and will bring His Kingdom on the last day.
If their was a second coming then any false Messiah could be proven right.

Many denominations purposely don't read or want to understand the Book of Hebrews because if they did, they would have to dismantle their denomination. I love the Book of Hebrews and have often said that it is a commentary on the Psalms.
You guys did another excellent job of taking this thing apart and putting it back together. Your doctrine is consistent and coherent and that's the highest complement I can pay anybody.

@@bairfreedom - If the Book of Hebrews does not make you repent of being a member of any mainstream denomination then you're not converted. It defines a church that denominations do not manifest. Which denomination goes by the Book of Hebrews? I'm 67 years old and have been a Christian most of my life. I have studied the doctrines and theologies of many denominations and none of them comply with the Book of Hebrews 100%. They all depart from this book in some way.

When Lord sent the Holy Spirit, it was on Pentecost. People spoke all different languages, and they too spread His word everywhere He took them! It is such a blessing to know how to worship the Creator and one true God who saves from evil. Moses knew already Israel would be unfaithful. Her kings introduced pagan practices until the Savior born of the Holy Spirit delivered first the Jews and then Gentiles from wicked ways!

Isn't this amazing, in the New Testament Yeshua said that the Holy Spirit will teach us everything we need to know, and I agree as few years ago I read the Psalm110 and that is what I understood and believed that it was a Messianic chapter. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen" - [The Day] when Allah will say, "O Aaeesa(The Messiah) Son of Mary, remember My favor upon you and upon your mother when I supported you with the Pure Spirit [i.e., the angel Gabriel] and you spoke to the people in the cradle and in maturity; and [remember] when I taught you writing and wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel; and when you designed from clay [what was] like the form of a bird with My permission, then you breathed into it, and it became a bird with My permission; and you healed the blind [from birth] and the leper with My permission; and when you brought forth the dead with My permission; and when I restrained the Children of Israel from [killing] you when you came to them with clear proofs and those who disbelieved among them said, "This is not but obvious magic."When I enjoined upon the disciples, “Believe in Me and in My Messenger(Jesus),” they said, “We believed. Bear witness that we are the submitting ones.”Remember˺ when the disciples asked, “O Aaeesa(Jesus) son of Mary! And He (God) will teach him(the Messiah) writing and wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel and ˹make him˺ a messenger to the Children of Israel ˹to proclaim,˺ “I have come to you with a sign from your Lord: I will make for you a bird from clay, breathe into it, and it will become a ˹real˺ bird-by Allah’s Will. I will heal the blind and the leper and raise the dead to life-by Allah’s Will. And I will prophesize what you eat and store in your houses. Surely in this is a sign for you if you ˹truly˺ believe. And I will confirm the Torah revealed before me and legalize some of what had been forbidden to you. I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so be mindful of Allah and obey me. Surely Allah is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him ˹alone˺. This is the Straight Path.”(Quran Aal-E-Imran[3]:48- 51)✅
Those who say, “Allah(God) is the Messiah(jesus), son of Mary,” have certainly fallen into disbelief. The Messiah ˹himself˺ said, “O Children of Israel! Worship Allah(God)-my Lord and your Lord.” Whoever associates others with Allah(God) ˹in worship˺ will surely be forbidden Paradise by Allah(God). Their home will be the Fire. And the wrongdoers will have no helpers.
Those who say, “Allah(God) is one in a Trinity,” have certainly fallen into disbelief. There is only One God. If they do not stop saying this, those who disbelieve among them will be afflicted with a painful punishment.
Will they not turn to Allah(God) in repentance and seek His forgiveness? And Allah(God) is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
The Messiah, son of Mary, was no more than a messenger. ˹Many˺ messengers had ˹come and˺ gone before him. His mother was a woman of truth. They both ate food. See how We make the signs clear to them, yet see how they are deluded ˹from the truth˺!
Say,˺ “How can you worship besides Allah(God) those who can neither harm nor benefit you? And Allah(God) ˹alone˺ is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.”

I ran into a Oneness Pentacostals, and I brought up this verse. He said "they are different types of lords" and I said, "ok cool, so we established that they are different.....now, who is the Lord of the king?" And then the subject got changed and he wouldn't go back to it.

Greetings in christ... Just this march i came across this verse in Romans and it really disturbed me that i started to think Paul twisted things. I tried to reach a lot of sources to check over it and none satisfied me. I prayed God to teach me on it and later i forgot this as I went with my daily chores. But after months I am now relieved from this dilemma as the Lord taught me this through you. Even though I forgot what I prayed over God didn't forget my prayer and answered it at the right time. David was a Psalmist as well as a prophet. I believe God gave him a revelation of things to come just as God gave, Enoch, Daniel, Jeremiah, Isaiah and others! It’s not uncommon for God to reveal an End from the Beginning; He’s the LORD God Jehovah! Moses said, a Prophet like onto him, God would give us/them. I don’t believe David is praising himself, he’s used to praising God or praying to God. That’s what the Psalms are all about. Praise God!

This is a great teaching. Ps 110 is a Messianic Psalm . Frequently quoted in the NT referring to Jesus the Messiah . David was led prophetically to write by the Holy Spirit .This psalm is a continuation of PS 2 for it completes the prophetic account of Jesus Christ final victory.
The “musical chairs” comment reminded me of this passage:
“Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. For “God has put all things in subjection under his feet.” But when it says, “all things are put in subjection,” it is plain that he is excepted who put all things in subjection under him. When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things in subjection under him, that God may be all in all.”

Amen. Thank you for this study. Its so fascinating that as you were giving responses to Psalm 110 objects, the parallels in Psalm 2 were also playing over and over in my mind. I also appreciated how you showed in the New Testament Jesus raising the question about Psalm 110. None of his opponents is raise the kinds of objections that we see some doing today hundreds of years later. I often think we should be very aware of the influence of Masoratic and Hellenistic traditions on the way we read the Bible, which can sometimes cause us to not see clear statements and concepts that are taught. Some of these ways can often be foreign to the context of a 1st century mind wrestling with the text and can often cause confusion. Thank you to you both and your team for putting this together and reminding us of what are proper ways to view the text and re-engage in the excitement and coherent message of the whole Bible. Jesus is LORD and is the only way! God bless and take care.

More than that, the Pharisees of Jesus' time obviously agreed that this psalm was Messianic, or else the question Jesus posed to them wouldn't have made any sense. "How can the Messiah be David's son?"

Remember your Lord often and glorify ˹Him˺ morning and evening.”And [mention] when the angels said, "O Mary, indeed Allah has chosen you and purified you and chosen you above the women of the worlds. O Mary! Be devout to your Lord, prostrate yourself ˹in prayer˺ and bow along with those who bow down.” That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you, [O Muhammad]. They don't mention the possibility that someone else wrote it about David or to honor David. Other people wrote psalms too like Asaph. I can't watch the rest of the video because they start it off by giving only a few possible explanations and leave out the most likely one.

2:12-In what way can the rulers of the nations “kiss the son”? In Bible times, kissing was an expression of friendship and faithfulness. It was a way to welcome guests. The kings of the earth are commanded to kiss the Son-that is, welcome him as the Messianic King.

Here the verse says honor the Son, or else GOD will be indignant, so when the verse says "for His anger...." is God anger, and then when it says "Happy are all those taking refuge in Him" the Him there is also God.

NASB Psalm 2
Kiss the Son, that He not be angry and you perish on the way, For His wrath may be kindled quickly. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!
In this correct translation from the Hebrew, we see that you have to "kiss the son" (it is the literal hebrew but it can mean honor the son) last HE (the SON) be angry and you perish in your way, so we can see here that the Son will be angry, not God, let's continue. "For His wrath may be kindled quickly" His wrath here, is the Wrath of the Son, not of God as NWT tries to make it to be. "How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!" Him here is also the Son, how blessed are those who take refuge in the Son, because they will not suffer the Son's wrath in the last days.

What is needed is complete trust in God's will boys
