Nice tractor!! I rode with my dad when I was little on my dad's G. I have the G now. Oversize pistons in it. Was our big tractor for years. Mint condition yet!! Been in the family for 60 years!! Nice video!!
I grew up on a 1951 G just like this, same 4x14 IH plow. Third gear, full throttle, 4.5 mph on 13x38 tires, weighted with calcium chloride. Our G had .125 over aluminum pistons, Big nut #51 carburetor with the improved main fuel nozzle. Delco 1111558 distributor, timing advance 25 degrees. Plow was set at 8 inches depth in mixed land, NE Arkansas. Sound is spot on. Notice when he nears the end and pulls back on the throttle, G just keeps going. Grandpa's Super M Farmall couldn't do that.
Great running G. I'm Guessing not quite stock. Gas manifold and oversize high compression pistons are my guess. I had a stock 49 G that wasn't quite that stout. I grew up inwest central Illinois in the 50's and early 60's and the guy's around us who had them pulled 3-14's or 3-16's.
Thank you from South Africa. Great video. I was a small kid when my grandfather ploughed with a G. He also had a B for lighter work. Before that it was teams of oxen. Then after the G and B he and my Dad switched to diesel tractors. Diesel is more economic in South African farming.
This is, I trust, not in New England :-) Going 4 or 5 mph with a 4 bottom would destroy my GM's, what with the rocky ground and sticky soil. Sounds good, tho. Thanks for sharing.
I pulled an IH 4 14 from about 1960-68, changed from an all fuel to gas intake. Added a bit of power, I bumped from 4th to 5th pulling 30 ft drag. Still used 2nd on plow because of the rocks. I think a 1951, but cranked by hand. The generator quit and dad didn't have the money to get it repaired. Took starter off so that fingers didn't hit starter.

I could seriously watch and listen to this all day!!!!!! Thanks for the great video!!!
I haven't heard a tractor under max load in many years. What a sweet sound.

Love hearing that sound again. I grew up on a farm too. Love the sounds of old farming equipment. Those back then were made to last.
Very nice. The G is walking them 4 bottoms pretty good. I enjoyed watching that.
Excellent running 🏃♂ and job plowing

I think those guys should take the rest of the day off and go fishing and let me finish that field for them.
Oh to have those days again
Old John isn't even breaking a sweat, better track down a 5 bottom! Keep'em working!!!!!!
Need a JD plow to make a better plowing of the corn ground.
Great to hear that G barking easily along.
Enjoyed one as a kid.. tks for the video.

Love this video.
I pulled a 4 bottom with my G even after the dealer said it wouldn't work. I showed him.
I could sleep to the sound of those old John Deeres.
The old G is stout!!!
Like nobody's business.
Not even breaking a sweat!
Los legendarios pos pos de John Deere,lo mejor en maquinaria agrícola

Wow! 4 bottoms! I expected 3 bottoms.
Mc Cormick Deering # 16 plow?
You will need a fuel truck close by.
That's a nice tractor it sounds good too I had one except I had a white friend plenty of power
These guys know their business. Moisture content looks good to fly dirt.
.90 or .125 oversize pistons, I take it?
I’ll have to ask my father inlaw

Old tractr
No one should ever be allowed ride on a tractor like that.
I can’t begin to guess how many miles I did that between our farm and my Uncle’s in the 1960’s.
Hi don the passenger jumped on land side to help get some extra weight only pulled the four bottom for one round like that
I’ve done it for miles. Probably not a great idea but I always got a lecture about the PTO.

The neighbor had a G with a straight pipe. Dad said he could hear him start it up in the shed some mornings.
