It definitely gets hot in July/August and getting hotter every year. Mid-high 80s (>30c) easily. Also the rain can be torrential with hailstorms becoming more common. That said, it's still one of the most beautiful places on the planet.
The place is Varenna, Italy. Directly North of Milan. Perhaps easiest to take a ferry from Como or Bellagio. Here are coordinates: 46.01046° N, 9.28245° E
Im looking to go in August. Useful video with some useful tips. No idea where to start or which village to get a hotel in, so this is a great video to give me an idea. Thanks Brad
I didn’t stay overnight in Varenna. I do believe you’ll find a fair number of smaller boutique style hotels. Pretty sure you won’t find any major brands in Varenna (or most of the lake towns except maybe Como). I’ve had good look finding places to stay on Hotels.com so that’s generally what I recommend. Their rating system is reliable as well… anything over 8.5 with 20+ reviews is usually excellent.
I was there in May. September is typically a beautiful month at Lake Como… weather is nice (a little cooler than July/Aug but only 8 rainy days out of 30). Have a wonderful time.
@@alaaalshammari I’m an advocate of renting a car (or… as we did a van). It can be expensive, but it provides ultimate flexibility to see a wide variety of places and you’re not having to be constantly dragging your luggage everywhere. Driving in Italy is fun. I would check for good offers online at the major car rental companies. We used Hertz.
Great video! What month did you travel to the lake? I am wondering because this summer is extremely hot in Italy, but on the video there are clouds and rain.
Yes… if you get an early start. It won’t be a relaxing day, and you certainly won’t see everything. However, you can get a feel for each town spending just a few hours in each.
Thanks for watching the video. To answer your question, we stayed in a VRBO home in a small town called Molina on the Southwestern arm of Lake Como (about 15 km north of Como). Our rental was a nice size and accommodating for our family. It overlooked the Lake and the immediate town was nice. However, it was not very accessible and it required us to drive to Como or Bellagio to catch a ferry. I would not stay in the same place again... but would prefer to stay in a town with accessible ferry service.
Yes… though on a more limited basis. Here’s an article with some good info about Lake Como in the off season: www.heremagazine.com/articles/lake-como-off-season
I know it's been a scorcher this year. Average high temps in the summer months are typically around 26 C (80 F). www.holiday-weather.com/lake_como/averages/
Great tips, thanks. However. Bellaggio is a haven for tourists. And the locals know about it. Italians wouldn't go there, and if they do, they certainly wouldn't be falling for all the tourist traps. Oh, and it's Varenna, not Verena
You also need to know that tourist are killing it! They queues are long as are the waits at popular cafes and restaurants, the authenticity is fading as locals are priced out, the locals in hot spots are fed up with selfish, self entitled noisy tourists who push, shove and take endless photos and TikTok contents. Try some of the other equally beautiful lakes or visit some of the lesser known towns - you will have a better and more authentic experience.
Great video. My wife and I spent several days in Varenna this past september, absolutely spectacular. Thanks for the reminder!
Thanks for watching. Varenna is a place I’m hoping to visit again… my time there was too short!
5:29 mother talking daughters picture is sooo pure!!

Just beautiful! We’re going to stay in Lenno so I hope that area is good too!
Thanks for watching. Have fun!
Love the place- explore the north lake Domaso, Gravedona & Colico
Excellent advice, thank you!
Great tips! The only lake como I've visited is in Minnesota. Looking forward to visiting Lake Como in Italy. It looks beautiful.
Hi Friend - Awesome video, Can you pls tell me , (from Milan) how to reach the place which you are showing in the opening spot @ 0:06 ?

Great video! My beautiful Hometown
Thank you. Glad you liked it.
Best travel video that I have seen about Lake Como. Most show scenery but give no information.
Thanks for your kind words. Much appreciated!
Wow beautiful place and lake❤️❤️❤️
Hello 👋 thanks for the video, beautiful shots of the lake & Street views. Do you remember the names of any of the restaurants you ate at?
The restaurant in Verenna was called Albergo Del Sole. Mid-range place... but had terrific pizza and pasta.
@@bradball Grazie!
Fantastiche riprese bravo😃😀😀
Could you offer suggestions of where your family stayed in the Lake Como area as we will have a family of 5 or 6 (adults).
Excelente! Thanks for share😊
Glad you liked it!

Wow this is very helpful as I'm planning to visit lake como and you have added more for me to explore. Thank you so much for sharing. New subscriber
Thanks for watching… enjoy your upcoming visit to Lake Como!
I looked up lake como because of a puzzle I did. And literally the puzzle was that first shot of those colorful little houses.
great one! seems I don't to research elsewhere about Como 🙂
Glad it was helpful!
Very nice 🎉🎉🎉
Awesome video!
Thanks for your kind words. Glad you enjoyed.
Great informative video
Do you recall, in Varenna, if the train station is close to the ferry stop?
We didn't visit the train station in Varenna, but I believe there is a station somewhat nearby the ferry stop.
It is a short walk uphill
My daughter and her husband have a ski school there!
Great video. Thinking about staying in Varenna. Any recommendations for basic - mid level hotels?

This year it was sooo hot😮😮😮
It sure was. Probably close to 90f in mid July.
Which month did you visit?
hi what month did you go?
@@biosailgirl May
What month did you go - concerned about the rain when I go this September 17th - 20th

well if u loved this lake try to visit Halstat..i guess that was the most beautiful lake i have ever seen..
Where is halstat? Thanks
What’s your advice on renting a car vs using trains. For a family of 6.

We were at Lake Como during the last week of May.
Is 1 day enough to visit all the places you went to?
Yes… if you get an early start. It won’t be a relaxing day, and you certainly won’t see everything. However, you can get a feel for each town spending just a few hours in each.
Bellagio vs Lugano. We need to choose one. Pls advise.
Both are great… but I love Lake Como more. Bellagio / Varenna would be my preference.
What month did you go in..coz its rainy. :O
5:05 Is that ex-Ferarri F1 boss Mattia Binotto ?
Great video . Did u guys drive to Bellagio from Milan or train?
We drove from Lucerne, Switzerland to Bellagio via Como. Afterwards we drove down to Milan then down to Cinque Terra.
The most beautiful Lake in the world, even sponsored by New York Times! 🌍🤩

how did you get around ? did you drive?
We drove to Bellagio, then travelled by ferry to everywhere else.
❤❤❤
97F in Lenno yesterday…
Way too hot… way above normal. Hope Europe can get some cool soon!
do the ferries operate in winter?
Yes… though on a more limited basis. Here’s an article with some good info about Lake Como in the off season: www.heremagazine.com/articles/lake-como-off-season
The temperature goes from 96 in summer to 14 in winter.. subtropical what??
I know it's been a scorcher this year. Average high temps in the summer months are typically around 26 C (80 F). www.holiday-weather.com/lake_como/averages/
The winter is short and they have many palm trees. I was shocked
Warning it's 36c here this week It gets *HOT* during the summer at least since global warming has kicked in.
You were there a week and chose filming on an overcast, rainy, dismal day?
We were there for three days. It was overcast most of the time we were at Lake Como. Still had fun.

Did you take a cooking class?
I wish we would have. That's a great idea for our next visit!
Great tips, thanks.
