Great vid ImMarksman. Been a M&K player since LOL... "Quake". I've played FPS games on a controller. But I salute those that can truly master the art. Honestly if it was "easier" for me, I'd make the switch... Playing the Halo games, few FPS titles, incl. some COD titles on XBOX. I just cannot get the knack of mastering the controller. I enjoy M&K, it's what I know, and that's where I'll probably stay, at least for fast paced, high reaction intensity titles like COD, etc... Honestly, I was expecting the gap to be more favorable towards controller. Having to work harder, but at the same time, enjoying it when I do jump on. But this was great to watch, to see there is advantages and disadvantages on both input styles, although controller can be more of an advantage. Guess I just need to become better, but being 52yo.... I'm too old & stubborn to relearn, LOL.
I’ve grown up on controller and it was never as strong as it is now. I’ve played on MNK for over 6 years now and it is in no way easier to learn than controller it took me time to get better aim vs I can hop on a controller and fry within 2 hours of playing and have no issues aiming.

I understand that you don’t play controller a lot anymore, but it’s still like riding a bike. Just give it a few games then the legend in you will kick in lol
Been on strictly M&K for roughly 2.5-3 years now(1.46K/D). Came back to CoD a 1/4 way through last years, After not playing since 2019s game. I'm considering switching back just for the simple fact I can't compete with AA...
Been on mnk for 7 years and I can't compete with it either. When The Finals nerfed the AA a while ago before they rebuffed it, I felt like I was having actual gunfights again. Then they buffed it again and added SBMM and I deleted the game.
Especially with the MM system. It just feels horrible and unfun to play. I can try and compete at 100%, but burn-out after a game or two. MKB since 2020, and turned off aim assist since the 360 days. I've never liked it, but I guess might be picking it back up; aim-assist and all.
You need to know what gunfights to take and which dont and how to position yourself to have a distance between controller players. Playing small map playlists on a mouse for example with that kind of SBMM is fucking stupid unless you want to nuke your KD for some reason or you want to use a shotty. Upclose you are right we cannot compete against rotational AA that has 0MS reaction time and pixel perfect tracking which means you need to learn to position yourself on smaller maps because going for close ranged gunfights against controller is not a good idea regardless of how good your mouse tracking is and how many hours you have in Koovaks or other aim trainers. Its not just insane AA but also idle aim sway, firing stability, visual recoil and other stuff that affects mouse more too. Shit ton of elements in new CoDs are straight up designed to work against mouse input lmao. Also if you are on MnK you need to stop copying builds that streamers use who play on gamepad because mouse gun setups are different to feel good. Truth is that nowadays mouse=high skill ceiling and gap while gamepad=small ceiling and gap and only delusional pad users will tell you otherwise when Marksman just demonstrated that in this very video and best of the best players talk about this for years now not just in CoD games but every single PvP game with crossplay. When AA started to work like literal software based aimlock built in by default we started to have problems - reminder that by very definition rotational AA is a cheat by default.
@@doooodehthat’s the thing, we shouldn’t have to play a certain just to combat aa. It’s so dumb but everything you said is correct unfortunately. I mean when even scump says shooting takes no skill now you know aa is extremely powerful. Doesn’t help that they fucked mnk input from mw19. That game felt so good on mnk
@@doooodeh The whole game is small to mid sized maps. I have always played aggressive whether it be on controller or M&K. I shouldnt have to play outsides of the maps or play like a rat just because AA is insanely OP.
When I bring this topic up to my friends on console they call me crazy. I think they are just ignorant and they argue that we (on PC) move too fast and smoothly. Anyway, love the video marks. SND is the only reason I play COD.
Aim assist getting stronger is the reason I jumped from controller to mouse and keyboard. COD got boring for me because there is no skill with controller. Mouse and keyboard saved COD for me because i enjoy getting better at the game without the game aiming for me.
I feel it's untested a/b, but you do feel you get easier lobbies overall in both mp and wz on controller. on mnk i'd get mp games sent to FL servers while being in north west coast playing vs fizz high kd stack while on controller i didn't. In WZ i get sent to mari, GA and FL/NY for games, while on controller i get more games in SJ, LA, at least in the same gd time zone
I played on KB&M in Fortnite(first time switching over from controller 2019), I got good and comfy on it. Then I played MW2019 on KB&M, took some aim training to get the tracking down to a good level, I loved it. Felt so accomplished when I’d get kills and do good because it was all skill and time training my aim. Had a 2KD in search. Took almost 2 years off from gaming and came back to MW3, couldn’t play KB&M anymore. Was rusty and I kept losing my up close gun fights, so I bought a scuff controller and got used to controller again after 4 years of not using it. Was instantly easier to win gun fights and within 1 week of using controller I’m back to a 2KD in search. It’s the easier input for aiming. Everything else I prefer KB&M. For those saying it’s balanced, yall are wrong and misinformed.
If you've never seen Wanted it'd the final scene where the protagonist shoots the Villanova from miles away and the camera follows the bullet threw a bu ch of impossible gaps amazing ending to what is a great movie
Another control variable is how many games you played with friends ( high level teammates that may limit the opportunity for kills ) just saying! Love the videos!
That is actually a good idea for perhaps a follow up video.. you should do another where you use snipers for 10 games on each and see how things differ. This video could be a "Controller advantage" video while the sniper can be more "PC advantage". I would be interested to see how those stats would be in comparison aswell
There’s no need for that video though, everyone knows with one shot guns mouse has the advantage. Issue is most guns are not one shot, and if you miss your one shot, you’re probably dead to the MCW. It’s not “fair and balanced” if the only way someone can compete is using snipers, especially since they removed snipers from ranked because people complained.
Crazy thing is if you fine tune all the in depth settings you can get really nutty. My accuracy is around a 35% in diamond ranked lobbies. Dashy from OpTic has like a 50% accuracy in pubs😂
imagine 8+% accurancy difference from a person mainly playing MnK ( not your average MnK player) and bearly touching a controller. this could reach 15%-20% accurancy difference. The gap could be even bigger in warzone as well due to longer TTK
It would be interesting to see the stats of 25, 50, and 100 games for each K&M vs Controller. Maybe mix it up different styles of aim assist and maybe no aim assist? Great video as always, love your content.
@Marksman I have been playing Cod probably as long if not longer than you and totally agree with most of your points in some manner. Another great topic covered. Here are my thoughts... Controller players will complain about M&K, M&K will complain about controller. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. Aim assist is way to strong in the past few CoDs. It eliminates skill gap and allows lower skill players to play better then they actually are. There will never be a perfect balance for M&K against controller. With all that said I do believe some aim assist is needed to play controller against M&K. It just needs toned down 33%-50% to help balance things.
One of the games with the craziest aim assist is Enlisted. Each player has a squad of NPC’s so the maps seem like there are more people (maybe 10v10 actual players but like 100-200 bodies in a match). Aim assist literally snaps you to the closest enemy (within medium/close range). So with a one-shot bolt action gun (it’s a WW2 game), you can just ADS/un-ADS repeatedly and wipe a squad without aiming. However, mouse and keyboard players seem to have an advantage in both long range sniping and full auto gun fights. Their movement is also insane, I believe they can lean and controllers players can’t. Overall it seems pretty balanced with the way things are and honestly comes down to both player skill and if you can kill the actual player out of the squad because the NPC’s are brain dead.
Let’s be real: yes controller has aim assist. But mouse and keyboard also got its advantages. I’ve seen things done on mouse and keyboard, that ain’t possible with controllers. So the way I see it, It’s balance.
Completely agree. Switching to mouse and keyboard made me a much better player. I can do the craziest flicks and never press an accidental button that gets me killed
i used controller my whole life i always defended controller, because i never used other inputs i never realized how strong aimassist even is till i switched to Keyboard & mouse
Nah while controller settings are harder to refine to specific people and in general even nowadays you can get such a high sense on controller doesn't matter. Aim assist in mw3 is insanely good and all the advantages MNK have take skill nothing on mouse is given as its just raw imput.
If you think its balanced then you're not being real, you know how you stated that you can do some things on keyboard and mouse that you cannot do on controller? Well guess what, controller aim assist tracks for you with 0ms delay, literally inhuman. kbm can do some things that controller cant do, sure, but at least its done with human input and human reaction speed.
Like marksman, I too played many years on controller in the past. The last 5 years I’ve been on mouse and keyboard. The movement and the ability to turn on people with a mouse is unmatched. With that said, close to mid ranged on a controller in MW3 is absolutely unstoppable. I plugged in a controller after watching this video just to see if I still had it after 5 years. It was like I had never put it down. I’m not by any means a professional player but it’s very easy to see that aim assist has gotten much stronger than it was in the past.
22:44 In general, careful with that car on Meat. Not sure if there are other triggers, but I've died too many times to it while throwing a Tactical. Not really sure why it happens.
I think it would be interesting to do this again but the next time have the comparisons of all the individual games stats including the overall. That way we can see outliers. It could also be argued that while playing KnM your accuracy is lower because you’re up against other KnM players who tend to have better movement than controller players. We would have to pay attention to the input of your opponents.
I think if you wanted to get any more accurate you should do 2 sets of 10 games on each. Do 1 set of 10 on MKB, next set on Controller, Next on MKB, then last on Controller and average the two trials for MKB and Controller. That would also help eliminate the potential you're a little more warmed up by the time you get to the second set of 10 games on controller. Still, pretty eye opening to see the stats just from this!
When you hit 39.47% more of your shots on controller when you've been using mouse and keyboard the vast majority of the time for the past 5 years, you know there's a problem.
Honestly Head shot percentage being higher on M&K makes sense since AA locks onto upper torso. But I don’t know how it’s even an argument. COD gives all the advantage to controller players and it’s such a disadvantage to play on M&K
Hey Nick you’re the channel I watch for getting better at search for 5+ years now and it would be cool if you did private 1v1s for educational purposes to teach the subscribers personally what they need to work on cus I would love to 1v1 you! (For fun of course cus ima for sure lose
I only play against consoles and controllers no matter where i play(PC or console) So honestly... even if im an avarage player, bellow avarage in SnD, controller or KBM, i cant get away from playing against aim assist, when i go to a leveling weapon session, i get placed in MCW only lobbies, and the games gets boring. Id really love for the option of playing only against KBM only players, idk i mean COD has long been dead, it can be fun at times, but you cant fix something they support badly. It started as a PC game, and now they just want to focus on console, and thats is all it will ever be. probably not gonna buy the next game. I mean im still gonna watch your vids, cuz i love them as they are fun and insightful. Till CoD actually make a decent game again, ill probably give other FPS games a chance than a 70$ game a year
No one needs that because everyone knows one shot weapons are better on MNK. The argument here was the amount of people saying aim assist isn’t op, where he just proved it now gives a good advantage with every other gun.
Mk and controller has benefits and cons. But the real test would be console vs pc. Try playing on a regular 55” tv or whatever size people play on and console vs your high grade pc setup. That’s a test I’d like to see.
I think you’re always one game behind! Like your stats update every two games. I could be wrong. So what I mean is call of duty stats are always one game off !! I still enjoyed the video!!
is there any chance of testing platform effect on matchmaking? I hover around a 1k/d on PlayStation and hardly ever come across pc with either input. But I would be curious if someone with your lvl of k/d has a different experience?
*NOTI GANG* @immarksman always love the content. This was a dope video GG! Also, what kind of monitor and GPU do you have? I have an i7-10700k and a 3080Ti FTW3 paired with a 165hz monitor and trying to figure out what to invest in for higher frame rates. 240hz monitor? Sorry this is my first PC and I’m learning. My bad for the novel lol.
You could go for a 240 but you likely won’t notice a true difference, with your set up you should be getting well over 200fps I’d imagine, so I don’t think you really need to currently be aiming for more.
results honestly could've been further apart tbh. 8.8% more accurate is wild though, for a guy like you. imagine someone who plays casually trying this same test, i imagine their values would change drastically from m&k to controller, given how much aim assist has been improved over the past 5 years.
Mouse and Keyboard: Better movement, sniping on distance easier. Controller: Aimassist and, at least in my opinion, more ergonomically. I wouldn't want to return to Mouse and keyboard....I am just not used to all the buttons anymore. 😂
I'm nowhere near your level but I still manage to have fun using M&K.. when I pull of something good, I know it's all down me and not the game holding my hand.
What is your crouch, prone or change stance button if all you have to do to snake is hit WASD, space and shift? Bc for me I hit C twice (bound to only stance down), hit W and shift to stand up and then I back up so hit D and repeat.
@@Marksmantrust I understand that. Mine was getting to the point of not being able to left click anymore it also doesn't help that I threw it at a wall...
nick it was effectively the same 😭 you had 18 more kills on controller u can chalk that up to skill base match makin honestly and ur accuracy stats are even since one is better by 10% and the other is better by 8% and my stance has always been the same that we shouldn’t have cross plat because things will never be equal and honestly it shouldn’t be games aren’t fun when there equal as much as people don’t want to admit it
Good content even though i think a different gamemode would have been a little bit more representative (bigger sample size) because yeah, more kills, more deaths, more bullets being shot and so on
They will never slightly nerf aim assist ever because they need bad players to have an easier time otherwise they won’t enjoy the game 😂 that’s there strategy.

I shouldnt have to play outsides of the maps or play like a rat just because AA is insanely OP.
been watching for years and years love you marksman
Playing on mouse, and keyboard, for this particular game is absolutely exhausting, but I refuse to switch over to controller
@10:50 , that sequence was clean . 🪖™️
@31:30 , thousands of hrs played . 💥™️
Love the longer videos! Thank you
When I bring this topic up to my friends on console they call me crazy. I think they are just ignorant and they argue that we (on PC) move too fast and smoothly. Anyway, love the video marks. SND is the only reason I play COD.
Are they wrong though? Do pc players not move faster and smoothly? I’ve never played pc just console, so
I’m just curious.
Aim assist getting stronger is the reason I jumped from controller to mouse and keyboard. COD got boring for me because there is no skill with controller. Mouse and keyboard saved COD for me because i enjoy getting better at the game without the game aiming for me.
Great video dude. Loved watching this live
10:56 that play was legit insane bruh super skill 🫡
If you've never seen Wanted it'd the final scene where the protagonist shoots the Villanova from miles away and the camera follows the bullet threw a bu ch of impossible gaps amazing ending to what is a great movie
Another control variable is how many games you played with friends ( high level teammates that may limit the opportunity for kills ) just saying! Love the videos!
10:56 now that was insane double kill needs to reload picks up a sniper 180 quick scope back to pick up mcw. Man that was nice 👍
@ImMorble i was more so just thinking stat wise how much of a difference it would be between M&K and Controller
Loving the longer video and man 2Pac is gaming hard
Great video marksman! Long format and a cool comparison video! I refuse to buy COD these days but I love your streams and Vids
Good work, good video. Also feels rhetorical in that nobody was surprised by this. Appreciate you're work though.
That wanted bullet scene is so cool
It would be interesting to see the stats of 25, 50, and 100 games for each K&M vs Controller. Maybe mix it up different styles of aim assist and maybe no aim assist?
Great video as always, love your content.
Loved the video would love to see the sniper comparison
Everyone should do this challenge
@Marksman
I have been playing Cod probably as long if not longer than you and totally agree with most of your points in some manner.
Bro exactly like they just need to tone it down but I know they won’t because they want bad players to feel like there good.
Overall it seems pretty balanced with the way things are and honestly comes down to both player skill and if you can kill the actual player out of the squad because the NPC’s are brain dead.
wildcat was fed up with the shifty guy lol
i played controller for roughly 10 years and haven't played it sense 2019 and i try to use it every now and then and i swear im like a toddler now.
I can finally listen to what marksman was TRYING TO SAY!
@@JA-ur8obI don’t believe for a second you’re good on mnk 😂😂😂
I prefer watching controller. The choppiness is nostalgic since i burned out in 2020.
22:44 In general, careful with that car on Meat. Not sure if there are other triggers, but I've died too many times to it while throwing a Tactical. Not really sure why it happens.
The fact he is doing this to see if his complaints are justified is great. Who else is doing that
Games 9 and 10 (Mercado and Meat) holy hell, sweaty AF lobbies.
Let the mustache grow 😎
I think if you wanted to get any more accurate you should do 2 sets of 10 games on each. Do 1 set of 10 on MKB, next set on Controller, Next on MKB, then last on Controller and average the two trials for MKB and Controller. That would also help eliminate the potential you're a little more warmed up by the time you get to the second set of 10 games on controller. Still, pretty eye opening to see the stats just from this!
I miss the marksman controller days
That nade @ 33:08 was fuckin awesome lol 🔥
I really like how almost never any round is won if our guy marksman is dead, must me nice for him!
When you hit 39.47% more of your shots on controller when you've been using mouse and keyboard the vast majority of the time for the past 5 years, you know there's a problem.
Marksman will you do a video on the new optic? Love the videos btw
Do the sniper comparison between mouse and keyboard & controller!
Can you do a sniping comparison next. Or shotgun if you're on a small map
One shot weapons, MnK has the advantage. B
kbam - long range king
controller - close range king
both balanced fine.
Except aim assist works at long distances, so good controller players can absolutely map with the MCW.
mcw is just broken.@@ImMorble
Reupload needs the extra comment
Awesome content to watch while eating
Honestly Head shot percentage being higher on M&K makes sense since AA locks onto upper torso. But I don’t know how it’s even an argument. COD gives all the advantage to controller players and it’s such a disadvantage to play on M&K
I like how he calls one shot and he’s only put one shot in the guy
There is a reason you see controller players more in pro apex and cod than MNK 😂 it’s insanely strong now.
Hmm don't forget to calculate all that snaking in game 7 into the equation 😂
Hey Nick you’re the channel I watch for getting better at search for 5+ years now and it would be cool if you did private 1v1s for educational purposes to teach the subscribers personally what they need to work on cus I would love to 1v1 you! (For fun of course cus ima for sure lose
i tried to play on controller again after playing M&K for 5 years and couldn't even play for 2 minutes without switching back it feels terrible.
Predicting Murksman is still a Chad on controller at 0:35
you are underrated pal.
I only play against consoles and controllers no matter where i play(PC or console)
So honestly... even if im an avarage player, bellow avarage in SnD, controller or KBM, i cant get away from playing against aim assist, when i go to a leveling weapon session, i get placed in MCW only lobbies, and the games gets boring.
Till CoD actually make a decent game again, ill probably give other FPS games a chance than a 70$ game a year
I fully understand that’s it’s a disadvantage for reg guns on mnk but the snipers are stupid op
I would like to see another comparison, but with one-shot weapons.
One thing will never fail: m&k players complaining about aim assist when they die
is there any chance of testing platform effect on matchmaking? I hover around a 1k/d on PlayStation and hardly ever come across pc with either input. But I would be curious if someone with your lvl of k/d has a different experience?
*NOTI GANG* @immarksman always love the content. This was a dope video GG!
Also, what kind of monitor and GPU do you have? I have an i7-10700k and a 3080Ti FTW3 paired with a 165hz monitor and trying to figure out what to invest in for higher frame rates. 240hz monitor? Sorry this is my first PC and I’m learning. My bad for the novel lol.
You could go for a 240 but you likely won’t notice a true difference, with your set up you should be getting well over 200fps I’d imagine, so I don’t think you really need to currently be aiming for more.
you should do a custom game and do like 5-10 games of a 6 man of good players controller vs pc players and see what happens
results honestly could've been further apart tbh. 8.8% more accurate is wild though, for a guy like you.
imagine someone who plays casually trying this same test, i imagine their values would change drastically from m&k to controller, given how much aim assist has been improved over the past 5 years.
Hey Nick I wanted to start making content do you recommend ElGato or OBS for capture and editing
Mouse and Keyboard: Better movement, sniping on distance easier.
Controller: Aimassist and, at least in my opinion, more ergonomically.
I wouldn't want to return to Mouse and keyboard....I am just not used to all the buttons anymore. 😂
Giving MnK aim assist is the stupidest thing i’ve heard lol
I'm nowhere near your level but I still manage to have fun using M&K.. when I pull of something good, I know it's all down me and not the game holding my hand.
What is your crouch, prone or change stance button if all you have to do to snake is hit WASD, space and shift? Bc for me I hit C twice (bound to only stance down), hit W and shift to stand up and then I back up so hit D and repeat.
Don't think so, mice can have issues reading inputs sometimes if they're worn out, old, etc, then you gotta get a new one, there's no fixing it really
@@Marksmantrust I understand that. Mine was getting to the point of not being able to left click anymore it also doesn't help that I threw it at a wall...
nick it was effectively the same 😭 you had 18 more kills on controller u can chalk that up to skill base match makin honestly and ur accuracy stats are even since one is better by 10% and the other is better by 8% and my stance has always been the same that we shouldn’t have cross plat because things will never be equal and honestly it shouldn’t be games aren’t fun when there equal as much as people don’t want to admit it
Mouse and key is definitely superior proof is in the accuracy and kill ratio comparison
I think you read it wrong.
Good content even though i think a different gamemode would have been a little bit more representative (bigger sample size) because yeah, more kills, more deaths, more bullets being shot and so on
10:57 was just a nasty 4pc
Hamofgod will forgive your sins
They will never slightly nerf aim assist ever because they need bad players to have an easier time otherwise they won’t enjoy the game 😂 that’s there strategy.
To anyone who thinks that it’s balanced please tell me if top level mnk players can compete with top level controller players. I’ll wait
