Fun fact: Those enemies aren't bugging out and losing textures. That's how a creature looks when it's killed with necrotic damage! A bunch of damage types have unique death animations and make the body look different after death. For example, if you make the killing blow with radiant damage, the creature will die screaming and burning in holy fire, and the body will look charred.
Absolutely, correlating fun fact: if you intend to speak with the dead, do not finish them with fire/holy fire, lightning, acid, necrotic and other magical effects that would particularly damage a body. (Also don't behead them... or just talk to them _before_ .)
Fun fact but Astarion sleeps like that because he's an elf and they don't really sleep they just go into a kind of trance. I only started realizing this when i played as an elf myself, but it really does look so hilarious.
Your Speak with Animals spell is a ritual, which means it doesn't consume a spell slot. You can cast that on yourself each day after a long rest, and you'll have it all day until the next long rest. Yay! And *always* keep it active. The animals have so much to say!
32:07 that’s not a bug; they aren’t losing their textures on death, that’s just what happens to a body that you’ve killed using Necrotic Damage (Inflict Wounds)
Yeah, you definitely don't need to edit too much. For example, looting and trading and all the talking with the characters we would like to see how you experience those things. Something like inventory management maybe you can edit out, but for the most part we don't have an issue with extra stuff. I would've loved to see you spend an hour in the character creator even. Side note, you should definitely do inventory management at some point as you get further in the game. There's going to be so much stuff and managing all of the things between half a dozen different characters is going to be a pain if it's all cluttered about. What I did was just pick up bunch of backpacks and put like different items in each of them like potions, keys, food, wearables, weapons, scrolls etc. This way if you need to change something or use something, you just need to open that backpack and you will find it.
I love your lil edits being sprinkled in, but also love seeing your reactions to every little thing to be honest. Don't worry about always being entertaining; people watch to see your reaction and choices to everything they saw in their playthrough, so being able to see everything is why we're here.
That really means a lot, thank you so much! I'm trying to get used to the idea that some people might actually want to see the 'less entertaining' stuff. Comments like yours are very helpful and encouraging 💛
Important standard tactic: before clicking "end turn", click on the character's melee weapon so they have that in hand in case something attacks them or runs past for an opportunity attack.

Fun watching you play! Just remember, Astarion can use sneak attack when one of your allies is next to a target even if you aren't hidden. So at 29:08 you used a normal attack and it could have been a sneak attack.
Just to add to this, if you go to Astarion's Character Sheet (the inventory screen for him) and tab over to the Reactions screen, you should be able to toggle on "ask" for sneak attacks. This makes it so you never have to manually choose to sneak attack, and instead it will prompt you to apply it when you get a hit with an attack eligible to apply it. This also saves you from using the sneak attack on an attack that ends up missing! I recommend setting every reaction to "ask" for all of your characters to give yourself maximum control over things like opportunity attacks, reckless attacks for barbarians, sneak attacks for rogues, etc.

I agree that you don't need to edit a lot. I actually enjoy watching people just exploring and experiencing this world and I find your gameplay very entertaining. Also, when you mentioned that you insist on your brother/DM providing you with menus when you're playing D&D, I had to laugh. As a DM, I have always liked using/preparing game props. So, I draw up inn/tavern menus and item list for various shops my players visit complete with inn/shop letterhead, proprietor's name, and prices.
Yay, a new episode! I'm very glad to be one of the new subscribers, Ash! Honestly, after your first video you've already become one of my favourite BG3 youtubers (and I've seen MANY streams of the game 😅) I love the editing, the humour, and you seem like a lovely person overall! Really looking forward to following your playthrough, I hope you're having as much fun playing as I am watching your videos! Btw the "texture issue" is just how corpses look after being dying to necrotic damage (inflict wounds in this case), it's supposed to look like this, kinda like their bodies have been drained of any life, every type of magic damage leaves corpses looking differently :)
If you want to see the approval rating, not only go to character sheet (at the first page you only see a rough rating) but on every persons character sheets, there are three tabs. Switch to the details (most right) tab of the single sheet and you see a number that normally goes from 0-100. Normally you start at 0 and it goes up. It also can go down, if you do real stupid things, but I did not happen to have that yet -- I guess, ypur rating can go into minus and at some point a companion might decide to leave you -- but as I said, normally happens onlz when you acting real stupid or convert to a murder hobo.
Once again with a little tip (maybe you know it by now) : when you have a dialogue option with a check in it - point your mouse at the stat in square brackets and it will show you the bonuses and penalties you’re gonna have for this particular roll. Also, use guidance when rolling, like, always.
When it comes to D&D, or any loot capable game Tenser is my spirit animal. Anything not nailed down is loot, anything that can be pried up/off is also loot.
Shadowheart: a goth half-elf who is a cleric to an [spoiler]? Oh my. That sounds like exactly the kind of dorky thing a pen & paper player would cook up. Dorkbangs and all.
One thing you should do is go into your character sheet and turn all your reactions to ask. Makes the game a lot better since you can choose when to use certain reactions, like sneak attack on Astarion, rather then them being used automatically
LZ did have an exclamation mark over her head, it's how the game let's you know she wants to talk to you. Instead, she watched you walk over and talk to EVERYONE else before coming to see her, which given how well she's roleplaying that character means you've just to m given her a social insult. Hence what she says to you when you finally make it over to her tent.
Just edit out repeated things like from dying. Otherwise its fun to see different peoples plans and strategies. Also watching the way they come up with them. What they buy, sell, hoarde, equip. Definitely the story choices you pick.
you "didn't know it was that kind of game"? what rock have you been living under lol this is Baldur's Dating-sim also. elves don't sleep, lol. the game added a trance (meditation) animation for all elves. personally i'd rather they just had elves staying up - sitting there and eating or reading or whatever - in the longrest cutscene, but oh well 🤷♀️
Been looking forward to your second episode all week. 🙂 Allows me an excuse to put off painting minis, which is what I should be doing... I forgot; do you mind a few general quality-of-life gameplay suggestions?
High praise coming from a DM and fellow autistic brain! I've still got a lot to learn, but DND is slowly but surely becoming a hyperfixation of mine haha
only found your channel today and i have to say you are delightful and adorable to watch🥰 your edits are hilariours as hell! keep doing what you're doing, love to get some more baldur's gate from you. - lots of love from from a fellow loot goblin and a very easy sub from me 😉
Interesting to see how a d&d paper player approaches the game versus a computer RPG player. Bg3 makes me wish that they released a Neverwinter 3 game. I loved the NWN mechanics and the ability to create your own mini modules.
If you are still playing, you might have figured this out, but Larian really took the style of "figure it out as you go along" on this game XD. So I thought it worth mentioning! When you got the "Detect Thoughts" prompt with the Tiefling in the grove, it was actually because you'd already used "Detect Thoughts" with Gale earlier. (Either that or you hadn't used your worm abilities just yet). It won't show you options in dialogue that require potions unless you've already taken the potion ahead of the conversation. And each day you get one free use of your worm to do.... some effect. I won't spoil the others in case you aren't there, but the freeing Shadowheart from the pod was one, then mind reading Gale to find out his past was another. And if you use the "detect thoughts" effect, it works like the spell would and lasts until you long rest again. It took me halfway through my first playthrough to realize certain effects and potions last until a long rest XD. I'm so used to D&D where things have a set (shorter) duration, and I"m really glad they put everything on rest timers instead.
@@AshbeeGaming Wait, so...Asmongolds editor uses an AI...I had no idea. Man people are going to hard into using AI for things. Though I can't say I haven't slightly dabbled in it.
Great episode! So many interesting stories to be found! Also, while it is likely too late for Volo by the time you read this, when talking to an NPC on the bottom left of your screen there are little circular icons, sometimes there will be one in the middle (of the 5) that is an open palm with some circles (coins) above it. If you click on that icon it will open up a trade window with that NPC.
oh my gosh the songs are tooooo funny! lol. I for one am also okay with not cutting so much out, a little bumbling around in menus and looting about and such doesn't bother me one bit. but with your editing skills, I won't begrudge anything you want to do! it will all be greatly entertaining. the world of bg3 is slowly opening up already. there's such a sense of wonder for me that this game elicits and it's wonderful to experience that all over again. I'm I already seeing dialogues I've never seen before, so I'm excited for what other turns this play-through takes!
Heya, wow somehow at the time, I didn't know there was already a part 2 when I saw part 1, so I had so much fun seeing part 2 finally! Are you going to release part 3? I hope the bit of a dip in viewers doesn't scare you away from it. I'm betting that just like me for some reason many ppl didn't have the second part show up like it should have a month ago. I really wonder why, but when I went looking for ya specifically, I found it lol.
You're quirky and funny and just an all-around lovely person to hang out with. Love your channel 😊 I can't say that you're my favorite though, because my best friend has an RPG gaming channel and she would scowl at me severely 😎
11:40 Assuming you wanted it to be 50/50 (or rather 10/10, as it were), then 10 would be part of the lower group to have two equal groups of 10 (1-10 and 11-20).
I love comboing Grease with Firebolt. The grease lights on fire and gives burn damage to everything standing inside it. You can combo so many things, if you hit someone standing in water with lighting they take double damage. Pools of blood count as water for this effect. And like there are bottles of grease, there are also bottles of water you can through at people.
With Asterion, you don't have to be in sneak mode for sneak attack. Just target enemies in melee range of allies and you get sneak attack. Also, if you hover your cursor over things like Persuasion or Intimidation, it will tell you what bonuses or debuffs you will get in your rolls during dialog.
@45:04 Bartering is definitely the way to go. Notice that the merchant has an attitude meter with you. When bartering, you can take less value back then you give to them. When you do this, their attitude towards you improves. The higher the attituded they have with you, the better the prices they give you (lower cost for items purchased, higher prices for items you sell them). Giving away the cheap junk goods for free is a good way to raise their attitude with you. Note though that not all merchants are worth the effort.
The int modifier on the cantrip shouldn't be too too bad. People usually go either something utility or the ranged fire one for the utility of burning things, but you should get advantage and double damage in a lot of cases with shocking grasp, which will make up for the int problem. Just gotta reserve it for wet enemies wearing metal armor. Also yeah, editing isn't quite so necessary if you have the chapters so people can skip past stuff themselves. A lot of people appreciate seeing things you might consider really boring.
Depending on your str score you can actually get more movement if you select jump and extend it as far out as you can. This will cause you to move and then jump bringing enemies in range that wouldn't have been if you selected the move action instead. This is especially useful if you are jumping down from higher ground as you get more jump distance from that as well. There is fall damage though, so it's best to use it from the top of some stairs or a ramp, not buildings.
Make sure you climb up on the rock behind Astarion in the camp, totally worth your time. I also enjoy having a little sit down on Shadowbae's chair. Also, you keep asking what we want to see - we want to see you make the decisions you want. This game supports choices very well, it's practically impossible to mess up, they account for most things. It's rare to find a game that does this well, _you do you_ - that's what we're here for. Some other random advice, performing a song around a crowd will make them gather to watch, I know a certain sneaky man with amazing hair that could...shall we say...capitalise on such opportunities. (Ok, I see you figured that out, nice). Gale's Portent Die are some of the most powerful game changers there are, and he can eventually refresh their uses by the prophecy system, check it all out and make those little bunnies dance to your tunes. Speaking of tunes, performing without an instrument means you whistle...and other bard type NPC's will often join in if you play near them. All the songs account for multiple musicians, there are counter melodies and solos and all that good stuff. You can even respec everyone into bard and have a band. For a good laugh - make someone not proficient in instruments play one. Gale on the flute is my favorite. Dont forget to long rest a lot, even if you dont need it - there's plenty of food, and you run the risk of missing all the amazing camp dialogue if you dont. I hope this all isnt TMI, just want to make sure you get the full experience. Like some others have said, it's a good idea to let people know how much info you want. Plenty of us nerds are full of useful tips, but it can be a little hard to know just how much you want.
Also, Divination seems AWESOME, but just shooting a gigantic Fireball at yourself and any enemies around you and being totally safe while the enemies get roasted.... That's pretty cool, too.
You seem to have a good grasp on the rules already, just a bit of advice on general rules: Seek height advantage whenever you can and try to limit enemies from getting it. Positioning plays a huge role in this kind of combat.
Love the playthrough so far! And I agree, less editing is good. When folks watch someone play through a game like this, we really get into as though we are there with you. If you do a jump-cut, it's a bit jarring for those of us watching. If you do need to cut some tedious stuff out, maybe let us know first, then do it, then let us know you are back. It smooths things out. :) As far as your inventory, quick hint: Don't carry all your food around with you. Just keep it in your camp chest in a bag. You only eat it when doing a long rest, and that only happens in camp. The long rest mechanism will take food out of your camp chest no problem, so no need to carry it around. Saves weight!
Hi! I am excited about your playthrough just finished my first one not too long ago, it becomes an addiction, had to start a new one after only a day lol.
They're part of the 'Deluxe Pack' you can get on Steam. You then find them in the 'Traveller's Chest' at camp (2:28), inside the 'Peculiar Clothing Chest' (3:18)
i love watching you play and your editing cracks me up! it's really cool to see how things unfold for you because you made so many decisions that have been different from my own :)
Thank you so much, I'm so glad you enjoy the editing! Yes it's amazing how many different options this game has, any personal favorites that were different from my own?
@@AshbeeGaming i was lowkey stressing on the nautiloid and wanted to get out of there asap, so i loved seeing you investigate everything that i missed! i had no idea you could even do arcana checks for the buttons in the room where you find shadowheart. also, i didn't actually get to talk to mol until after i had already helped/saved a few of her friends, so you got some dialogue (and gang initiation) that was super interesting! :D i don't want to spoil too much for you though so i'll leave it at that lol
It's nice when someone playing this game for the first time doesn't immediately dismiss/kill Lae'zel because of how mean she is! (she's nice by githyanki standards to be fair) She's one of the most important characters in my opinion, but I won't spoil anything I'll just say I think not having her in your party/camp means you kind of miss out a little bit story wise - also she's good in a fight lol
It stresses me out how little you save 😅 But loving your playthrough! You are very fun to watch. A tip for pickpocketing stealing and using minor illusion. Going in to turn based mood makes it much easier in my opinion. Also putting out the lights! For some reason no one gets suspicious about you running around turn out all the lights 😄 And you absolutely need to get your hand on the darkness spell! So good for doing mischief 💜
Yes a few people have mentioned I need to save more frequently, I'll get on that just for you guys 😅 Oh great tip! I hadn't thought about going into turn based mode. I'm planning on some thievery in part 3 so your tips will be very helpful. Nothing suspicious about turning lights out, nothing at all...muhahaha I'll try and hunt down a darkness spell for Gale!
Corpses turn white if they've been killed by a necromancy spell. There are unique effects for corpses that die to a number of effects; for example corpses get charred when they die to fire
Happy to see the 2nd Part. Regarding hier Astarion sleeps - this is because he is an elf and elves don't really sleep. It's more like meditation. Well done on the fight in front of the grove. It is not easy to keep everyone alive. If you had a fighter like Laezel in your party, you would have gotten inspiration for that. That's how I noticed on my first playthrough that no-one had died. On my second try however. First time, I died. 😂

Astarion does have the best hair in the camp.
he can't even see himself in the mirror, but he knows it's true
And he knows it.
ring of the lekinesus... ring of te lekinesus... ring of telekinesis...
Hope you're doing ok
When it comes to D&D, or any loot capable game Tenser is my spirit animal. Anything not nailed down is loot, anything that can be pried up/off is also loot.
It seems you and I are the same, everything is loot. Even little knick knacks like forks = precious loot
Oh I had no idea you could do this, thanks for the tip! I'll for sure turn it on for part 3 😊
The cutscene with Wyll stabbing the goblin, is actually Shadowheart voiceactor's gf (Aliona) doing it :)
th-cam.com/video/q8-Wv5yayLA/w-d-xo.html
Oh no way that's such a fun fact! Plus she does mocap, multi talented lady 🙌
Definitely the story choices you pick.
you "didn't know it was that kind of game"? what rock have you been living under lol
this is Baldur's Dating-sim
also. elves don't sleep, lol. the game added a trance (meditation) animation for all elves. personally i'd rather they just had elves staying up - sitting there and eating or reading or whatever - in the longrest cutscene, but oh well 🤷♀️
A very comfortable rock haha!
Ahh, good to know. That explains the goofy boy pose. Can always do with more cutscenes haha
Been looking forward to your second episode all week. 🙂 Allows me an excuse to put off painting minis, which is what I should be doing...
I forgot; do you mind a few general quality-of-life gameplay suggestions?
I didn’t know the deluxe edition gives items referencing divinity original sin 2 (besides fane’s mask), that’s really neat
Also, kudos, you seem to really know your 5e :) this makes your videos not that frustrating for my autistic brain!
- lots of love from from a fellow loot goblin and a very easy sub from me 😉
Thank you so much that is so sweet! 🤗 Part 3 will be up soon. Always a pleasure to converse with a fellow loot goblin 😉 Welcome to the channel!
Interesting to see how a d&d paper player approaches the game versus a computer RPG player.
Bg3 makes me wish that they released a Neverwinter 3 game. I loved the NWN mechanics and the ability to create your own mini modules.
Just getting to the channel love the bunny dice and hope for good rolls. Hope you enjoy the game!!
My bunny dice and campaign thank you haha! 🤗
Not me thinking that if i long rest too much i will transform and ending up skipping those dialogues apparently😢
Oh no! Hopefully we can discover the dialogues together then 😊
I like you, really enjoy watching you have fun
Excited to see some of you upcoming decisions ❤
Astarion is a full elf, not a half-elf like Shadowheart. That thing he was doing was meditating instead of sleeping, which elves can do.
At 1:03:04 the edit of "A true professional" that voice.....that's asmongold's editor....
Oh really! That's awesome, it's an AI voice generator
@@AshbeeGaming Wait, so...Asmongolds editor uses an AI...I had no idea. Man people are going to hard into using AI for things. Though I can't say I haven't slightly dabbled in it.
The edits are hilarious 🤣
Oh hey, I'm in this video!
... Well, my comment is, at least :D
19:32 Would you be surprised to learn that all elves sleep like that? Even half elves and drow sleep like that, I have no idea why
oh my gosh the songs are tooooo funny!
@4:57 Shadowheart is being extra snarky because she is mad at you for adding Lae'zell to the party. let her pout, she'll get over it.
I enjoy your narration, you are quite entertaining. Well played my Lady
Omg I love your David Attenborough narrator when you were fumbling around in Mattis shop.
Love your editing, I do that in my head irl. Probably why I get funny looks as I space out to imaginary music lol. Thanks for making me smile!
Firebolt is based on Intelligence, and Shadowheart is a Cleric. I think she has a different cantrip Clerics can use for basic ranged damage.
Hey, just found these , the first 1.9 videos were good, guess the series didn't work out :( Hope to see more sometime though
This game is so damn cool!!!
Also, Divination seems AWESOME, but just shooting a gigantic Fireball at yourself and any enemies around you and being totally safe while the enemies get roasted.... That's pretty cool, too.
@@Tcrror Yeah it's cool, but thanks to Larian even something this cool is the 'boring' option.
You seem to have a good grasp on the rules already, just a bit of advice on general rules: Seek height advantage whenever you can and try to limit enemies from getting it. Positioning plays a huge role in this kind of combat.
Those dice are pretty spiffy, i must say : )
*desperately trying to satiate the curse.."
I really like how you play this :) Hope u continue.
Btw, love the hat and name of your character :)
Your editing is so fun!
Now - that's all I have to say besides - and I really mean this - _moo._
Thank you so much! 🥰
Strange Ox is that you?
You definitely don’t need to edit out so much more than happy to see all the inventory management.
P.s. please go find my best boi scratch ❤
As far as your inventory, quick hint: Don't carry all your food around with you. Just keep it in your camp chest in a bag. You only eat it when doing a long rest, and that only happens in camp. The long rest mechanism will take food out of your camp chest no problem, so no need to carry it around. Saves weight!
Hi! I am excited about your playthrough just finished my first one not too long ago, it becomes an addiction, had to start a new one after only a day lol.
where did you find the bard hat and cape?
They're part of the 'Deluxe Pack' you can get on Steam. You then find them in the 'Traveller's Chest' at camp (2:28), inside the 'Peculiar Clothing Chest' (3:18)
Truly, plain brown leather is far more fitting for a Bard than an elegant, showy, and attention drawing outfit
You're right, the plain brown leather doesn't do the bardic profession justice, but those frills! I'll hunt down a showier outfit just for you 😉
@@AshbeeGaming Steal Astarion's, it looks better on a Bard, and he looks better without it 😈
Loot Goblin Loot Goblin
What happened to her?
If you jump first then move you can get closer, the npc enemies do that all the time.
i love watching you play and your editing cracks me up! it's really cool to see how things unfold for you because you made so many decisions that have been different from my own :)
Keep those dark minds - no spoilers, but there is an interaction with them much later in the game
Yes I actually really like her! Looking forward to breaking through that tough exterior of hers. I'll put her in my party for a bit just for you 😊
It stresses me out how little you save 😅
But loving your playthrough! You are very fun to watch.
A tip for pickpocketing stealing and using minor illusion. Going in to turn based mood makes it much easier in my opinion.
Also putting out the lights! For some reason no one gets suspicious about you running around turn out all the lights 😄
And you absolutely need to get your hand on the darkness spell! So good for doing mischief 💜
Yes a few people have mentioned I need to save more frequently, I'll get on that just for you guys 😅
Oh great tip! I hadn't thought about going into turn based mode.
I'm planning on some thievery in part 3 so your tips will be very helpful. Nothing suspicious about turning lights out, nothing at all...muhahaha
I'll try and hunt down a darkness spell for Gale!
As a DM, you getting a lot of d20s now is a dire sign indeed. Maybe not during Baldur’s Gate 3, but during the next session of your campaign…. :O
My brother (and my DM) isn't going to know what hit him 😋
I'm relieved you had as a goal the NPCs survival in the goblin fight. I see many people just not caring!
Lol at the Attenborough narration.
Yes 100% I get emotionally attached to NPCs haha, and knowing Larian the death might make us miss out on content.
Glad you enjoyed 🤗
Corpses turn white if they've been killed by a necromancy spell. There are unique effects for corpses that die to a number of effects; for example corpses get charred when they die to fire
Ahhhh that makes sense, literally had the color sucked out of them. Whoops, kind of obvious in hindsight haha 😅
Disappointed she edited out character creation button
V
Welcome back Ashbee!
Im really enjoying your play through. I look forward to more I hope. Your edits are funny btw.
Yay! Thank you so much 😊 I really appreciate that, they take a lot of time lol
1:21:58 I'm dying :D
I'm a true professional when it comes to pronunciations 😉
Happy to see the 2nd Part.
Regarding hier Astarion sleeps - this is because he is an elf and elves don't really sleep. It's more like meditation.
Well done on the fight in front of the grove. It is not easy to keep everyone alive. If you had a fighter like Laezel in your party, you would have gotten inspiration for that.
That's how I noticed on my first playthrough that no-one had died. On my second try however. First time, I died. 😂
Your edits are amazing 😂 I laughed so hard, thank you for making my day brighter 🎉
Thank you so much! That means a lot 🥰
And now? How is your advanture going on?
